f**k, Ecuador up 2-0 now... EDIT: Spain up 3-0 as well, this could be quite embarrassing for Australia...

If the JAW's end up progressing, it's Spain who they will play too...

I'd rather be knocked out than embarrassed by Spain

ive got a song that wont take long, Adelaide are rubbish.. the second verse is same as the first.. ADELAIDE ARE RUBBISH

Goals in the 6th, 13th and 18th minutes. I wonder if it is attacking brilliance or poor defending that is causing it.

As much as it is great to see Aussies get thumped, we really need Kosta Rica to score a couple of goals.

Interesting because their side is flooded with A-League players.

Half time in both games, Ecuador up 2-0 and Spain up 5-1.

At least one of the results is going our way

Do we really want to progress and go up against Spain though??

I think so, even though we will probably lose, qualifying for the second round in a FIFA World Cup is a mighty achievement.

It's always depressing.

Three for me, and two for them.

Fair point. To be honest we were never really going to have much chance in the second round, no matter who our opposition was.

How much chance does Kosta Rica have of pulling back for a win/draw?
Permalink Permalink
over 14 years ago · edited over 13 years ago
They are only 2-0 down, so anything could happen. Shots/shots on target was pretty even in the first half, so fingers crossed!

Australia doing well this half, they are playing a lot better than they did last half. Still no goals for Kosta Rica though...

3-0 to Ecuador. Damn.

Lets hope for a draw between Croatia and Guatemala now.

Looking grim for the lads to be honest. Croatia don't have a particularly strong team in Colombia as some of the boys stayed home to play in Champions League and Europa League qualifiers, but Guatemala are the worst team in the tournament, and Croatia know a 1-0 win will be enough.

Oh well, theres a small glimmer of hope... I guess if we dont qualify then at least we dont have to come up against a rampant Spain

That is correct EG, but if that is all we care about our standards are not going to improve to where we should be.
Have not seen our boys play, but apart from a pretty poor defence, the Aussie are a good side.

Individually maybe but as a team they suck. True, NZ hasn't exactly set the world on fire with their style of football but they will take a lot more out of the tournament than the Aussies.

0-0 will be a great result for us. Both Croatia and Guatemala will know that if they can win, they will qualify. I'm guessing it will be an attacking game of football, so 0-0 seems unlikely

Awful game so far. I'd put money on 0-0 to be honest.

Yep. Croatia had a couple of decent chances, but look very pedestrian and disinterested. Guatemala trying their best, but lack quality.
