A mate of mine works for Flight Centre and can get us a sweet deal on these:

www.cashpassport.com

Main benefits as we discussed
- 2 cards not one.
- if both cards lost then new cards delivered free of charge within 2 days & emergency funds usually within 20 minutes if needed.
- no $20 joining fee
- reloadable online
- card is not embossed so prevents anyone taking an imprint (reduces that kind of c/card fraud)

He can waive the setup fees and such.

He'll be at our booze up at 4Kings on the 30th.

BigDunc already has one.

Note that we're not making money off of it, we're just endorsing it.

We're just shy of a ton.

About 90 or something, including those joining from other countries when we get there.

AFAIK the biggest tour from NZ by a country mile.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

Everywhere uses different plugs to us.  Take one adapter, and an NZ powerboard if you have several things electronic.

There might be busses to Pretoria from O.R Tambo.
exactly take a universal adaptor then a 4 way multi then you'll be sweet

bought my adapter this morning, so I am sorted for bringing my decks over.  All you on the tour who love thumping old school drum and bass, you know where to come.

All I do is make the stuff I would've liked
Reference things I wanna watch, reference girls I wanna bite
Now I'm firefly like a burning kite
And yousa fake fuck like a fleshlight

Be careful with these. On top of the NZD4 per transaction, they gouge a margin of 5.95% on the currency conversion rate (eg if you withdraw rand from a SAf ATM using a NZD Cash Passport ATM card). It's all in the small print (Clause 9.4 of the Terms & Conditions).

Any of these White Noise WC tee's coming to Melbourne for sale at all?

I've also heard that a credit card that is unembossed can be hard to use.

Not really gauging, you'll get a conversion fee and a transaction fee no matter which way you do it.  These are similar to ANZ travel cards.  Think ANZ fee is 2.5%, but $7.50 per transaction.

Yeah basically it's all gauging, just different formulas to give you the sense of a choice over your reaming.

Still think Westpac Travel Card is the best way...I may be biased though coz I already have one =S

BTW - anyone wanting to take over a cheap flag should pop down to '2 cheap' on Courtenay Place.  Has a large silver fern flag with 'New Zealand' written on it.  $5.

Guys I'm having a last minute change of heart about going to SA & going over for our second & third game only.

May talk to my bank about a loan.

I'm skint now anyway..so wtf.
What do people think is the best thing to do re travel between both Game Towns & the arrv/dept town of J'burg?
Would overland be easy or would domestic flights be the better option

I've tried looking through this thread but I can't really find the relevant info, plus I'd be leaving via Sydney.

Yeah, it is several of percent more in FX exchange fees than a general bank.  Unfortunately Travelex don't currently have cards that can be loaded in South African Rand.  Gutted.  Until they do, this is still one of the safest way of travelling with money - difficult to skim, 2 cards, not attached to your bank acount etc.  I'm taking mine as a back up as it's reloadable from internet banking. If I'm boozed at one of the games and loose my bank card I'm done like a dogs dinner 'cos I won't be getting another one for at least 7 days - at a cost too.  Travelex don't charge for replacement cards and can get them to you in less than 2 days with some back up cash in 20 minutes to tide you over. Sweet.  It's all about spreading the risk aye.  Bank card for normal day to day stuff and travelex card for at the games and when out in the bars so if I get pick pocketed, who gives a damn - got the other one back in my suitcase.

Just been looking at the SIM cards we got with FIFA tickets.  Looks like these are the two plan options we get....
1) Call per second (default)
2) Zone

I am assuming that we can drink on the bus, and that there will be a toilet on there as well.  I have the bladder of an old women with severe bladder problems, so need to use the bathroom every 7 minutes when drinking beer (normally right when James Dean gets to the "interesting" point of his story).
