All Whites to AMI Stadium 9 October!! http://twitition.com/c4rz2

I know that this might not be everyone's preferred option but it would be nice to get some support from you lot I always push for football stuff to be in Wellington over Auckland, now that this game is confirmed to not be in Wellington I would be grateful for a bit of love from you North Islanders
what happened to your legendary FaceBook campaigning??? Play to your strenghts Ahmad.
Quietly, Chch would prob suit me best. Easiest, quickest and cheapest to get to and from for me.

I'd love to go to them both, but it'll come down to money. I'd be surprised if Auckland doesn't get Honduras, to be honest. New Zealand Football would want it to sell out, which Auckland will do, but I'm not so sure if it would in Christchurch.

Where would it be in Auckland? Pukekohe has an ITM eggball game, and according to One News (great source that), that leaves them unlikely to hold the game?

Which ground would Auckland use?

And sellout at Auckland? Seriously?

The eggball match in question being Counties-Manukau v. Auckland. Certain to draw away a fair amount of general punters.

I really hope the Honduras game is in Auckland. People here do love football. The atmosphere in the pub for Slovakia game was like nothing I've seen (and I was at Kings for other NZ WC games). I have no doubt that the game would get a massive crowd. Come on NZF, give us a chance to prove ourselves again

Price will a key factor in how fulll the stadium is on a Tuesday nite in Welly...hope its pitched at WC qualifier level or below.

I think up to $40 would be fair and more than affordable. If $50 I'd still pay but wouldn't be as happen.

Under Bahrain $35 is surely unlikely?

The Honduras game should be in the home of New Zealand football too imo.

Depends on motive...reward or money spinner?  The fight for the disposable dollar is real and it is just a friendly..$40 silvr adult and a decent kids discount would do it for me.

There are some interesting options around those dates for those of you who like a bit of music to go with your football.

For the punkers GBH (oh yes!) are on tour at that time:
Thu 7 Oct - Kings Arms Auckland
Fri 8 Oct - San Fran Bathhouse Wellington
Sat 9 Oct - Al's Bar Christchurch (could be a great night if the game's down there!)

For the funkers Ricki's Gooch's Eru Dangerspiel are also playing:
Fri 8 Oct - Auckland Town Hall (travel up a day early if the match is in Auckland)
Sat 9 Oct - Wellington Town Hall (will anybody who's anybody be left in town that night?)

Paramore also playing at Vector Arena in Auckland on Fri 8 Oct for all you Twilight fans.

Please please be Auckland, any excuse to get a load of dunkin donuts! Oh and visit friends.

Was amazed watching 3 News that it was the 4th story! Was first on CGW and TV1.   I didn't watch either channels main news so don't know if was mentioned there or not.

"Cant see Auckland getting it. They have the U20 World Cup Quaifiers there in October, which brings another issue, will Wood get cleared for that."

Actually, UIron, Auckland is hosting the OFC Women's World Cup qualifiers at NHS between September 29 and October 8.

And some dates for your diary - again, these events will be at NHS:

Jan 08 - 21:  OFC U-17 World Cup qualifiers
Apr 18 - 29:  OFC U-20 World Cup qualifiers

Cheers,

Please be in Christchurch.  We have more fans than Auckland and they are better fans as well.

Waits for bait to be taken.

Booked my flights up from CHCH. Cheap as chips, but imagine that won't last long. Hopefully the Oct 9th game is in CHCH too. A nice way to cap off the end of the uni year

According this link the U20 mens OFC championship is being played in Auckland in October (details to be confirmed).

Hopefully with details to be confirmed the venue and/or Chris Wood could be made available.

Either that, or fly to Wellington. They have options.

As it says, Hammer Head, to be confirmed.

The tournament is run by Oceania, and they confirmed the dates for all three tournaments with me a couple of weeks ago. So unless they've changed since ...

I'm biased but isn't it remarkably affordable for Aucklanders to travel to Wellington (and even Christchurch) compared to South Islanders trying to get to Welly?

From Dunedin we really get screwed for fares, and I'm sure it's even worse from Invercargill and possibly even Queenstown.

Basically it seems that 50%+ of domestic flights go between Auckland, Wellington, and Christchurch.

Would seem fair to me to have a game in each Island. I'd probably say this even if I did live in Wellington.

I've always pushed for North Island/National one-off stuff to happen in Wellington (my thoughts on the Coca-Cola World Cup Trophy Tour are well documented here). But if there are going to be two games then it would be heartbreaking not to have one of the games in the South Island. Being able to drive makes it affordable and I can bring others along.

10 hours return in the car won't be fun but I'll do that for the All Whites.

I agree, CHCH  proved themselves with the Phoenix, give them an AWs game. Remember that article not so long ago about CHCH being a potential new club for A-League expansion? If they are keen then let them keep showing it.

AMI stadium folk were trying to get the Paraguay game pushed back to Oct 9 so they could host that game, but now with the announcement of this game, it fits the glove nicely. I can't imagine why it won't be held in chch. There was a bumper crowd at the phoenix game last december and nz's football profile has gone through the roof since then, so crowd number shouldn't be an issue.

As an aside i see you can watch Italy v Ivory Coast at West Ham for 20 pound and 5 pound for under 16. Hard to compare the two games.

You do realise Auckland is still the home of NZF.

Three for me, and two for them.

Not confirmed.  NHS, Chch and Hamilton are the three in the running.

Hey the Tron got 10k for a pointless Nix freindly in the middle of winter and the rugby season, I recon we would get a great crowd in the summer.

Notably it is well located to AKL, BOP, Taranaki, and not that bad a drive to the East Coast/Hawkes Bay and defo not out the question for a road trip from the Manawatu/Welli region.  As to South Island...Meh

Plus best square (soccer/rugby specific if your a yank) stadium in NZ!!!
(better then the half finished NHS).
Supporter world's best and worst football teams: Waikato/WaiBop, Kingz, Knights, Phoenix, The Argyle, The Whites & the All Whites

Totally agree with you on all counts. Huge catchment area and packed stadium would make for great atmosphere. I'm in Palmerston North and will be going to the Paraguay game but would seriously consider going to Hamilton as well.

To be honest though, I think Christchurch will get it.

I think Auckland, Chch and Hamilton all have good cases and I'm just happy that we know there is an extra game to be played outside Wellington. As I've said they shouldnt have the monopoly on the AW's and unlike the rest of us they get to watch the Nix every other week.

According to radiosport there are more games to come...

After confirming home matches against Paraguay and Honduras in October, New Zealand Football says there will be more matches to come.

New Zealand Football chief executive Michael Glading has confirmed there will be more matches to come for the All Whites in 2011.

Glading's announced the All Whites will face Honduras and Paraguay in an international double header on the 9th and 12th of October respectively.

He says the All Whites will also be heading abroad. Glading says coach Ricki Herbert's been talking with the High Performance Manager and they're putting together a possible schedule.

NZ Football is in talks with numerous countries but he won't be reveal who.
