Emblen would be a step back for NZ Football. I would like to know what successes he had with U23 and what do you believe he would bring to our game?
Are we going to do the same thing like with Darren Bazley? He went to U17 World Cup got beaten in all three games (goal difference?) without scoring a single goal and got promoted to U20 coach? He is a nice block but this is just bizarre...
With all overseas players that Ramon brought to ACFC, he managed to win only O league. It is completely different to be the coach of the best funded club in ASB league, where other clubs have very limited funds and/or pool of players, to lead NZ selection against much stronger teams (with an exception, but no disrespect of Oceania countries).
We need to invest in very good overseas coach. How we would know? This needs to be determined by the style of football that we want All Whites to play and the coaches currently available with that particular style. We have a bunch of talented young players who need to be led by well known, respected coach with a clear vision of All Whites future.
In my view, the best model would be German style of football which would suit us well.
