Not unknown though are they.... at least to us. I'm not sure either would ad much but I don't know that much about Del Moro.

I'm on record as being a supporter of Ramon and Neil as a duo. I think Ramon is a smart operator. He is not going to make comments like that unless he can back it up so I'm pretty confident he has done his homework.

Imagine the opposite. He gets the job and can't deliver. He would look like a complete cock. I think he knows what he is on about.

I hope you are right Vader but it appears similar to our politicians in election year. Here's a lolly scramble, vote for me and you will get ahead. Vote for Ramon and you wil get four unknown superstars that only I know about.

Saying all that I would vote for him verses Emblem solely down to the style of play he would implement.

Absolutely no problems with a Ramon and Emben duo. Would seem obvious considering they both know the NZ scene very well. Both have had international exposure....Emblen as Ricki's assistant/ Olympic coach and Ramon at Club WC. They both seem in sync with the playing style that would suit the young brigade coming through. If Ramon knows some eligible kiwis who could be AW possibles then who are we to question. He seems to have amazing contacts globally.

Lets face it we don't have the $$ to recruit some fancy international coach. There is no money to pay a big salary or money to get the AW's on a regular playing schedule. IMO Give it to those two guys and have another look at it in a couple of years.

Not Ramons style to talk shyte. If it was, I would be with you but I seriously think he is on the level.

He didn't say superstars, he said "will do a job for us." And by "unknowns" he might be meaning something more like 'previously unconsidered/overlooked' i.e. because of eligibility - or maybe age. I'm thinking someone like Chris Bale, who could "do a job for us" short-term in the tricky DM role if he was to apply for an NZ passport. He's been here for years.

That's not such a silly shout there Jerzy but is exactly the 'looking outside the square' mentality that might be needed when looking for players.

What I like about Ramon is how positive he is. He has a vision and a plan for the AW game and seems fired up to make his mark. Emblen is a good coach but does not seem confident to take the main job. IMO Ramon with Emblen as assistant would be just the right combo to develop the young AW talent.

So Ramon to All Whites and Calcott to ACFC then?

Am I HardNews in disguise?

Calcott is not the right coach for ACFC. Not saying he is a bad coach, far from it (I was never a fan of his but I have come around) I just think that team needs a certain type of coach and its probably not him.

I think Ramon should stay as the coach of ACFC. Keeps his hand in if you are only going to coach 3-4 games a year.

Not many calls for Ryan Nelson on here for a while. Toronto have spent a lot of money on the salaries of big name new players ahead of the new MLS season. If they get off to a bad start Ryan will again be under pressure and his job at risk.

How would everyone feel about Nelson?

English based All Whites fan! Would love to watch an All White game one day.

I don't think he'd want it.

Still too green behind the ears and I'm not sure if he would work well in an amateur environment with no money.

Yes he has a 100% record right now but look at who the club splashed out on.  Even the Kingz and Knights worst coaches would have at least two draws with that squad.

Ryan may well prove to be a great coach only time will tell.

Ryan was an obsessive fantastic football-mad player, I hope he gets the same as football coach from his players.  Diego Simeone was the same, so much into the small details around football as Nelsen is...

Ray Gatt ‏@Gatty54  4m

I can reveal that Graham Arnold has been flooded with offers including one to coach the NZ national team

Don't believe that. Probably rang to gauge his interest.

Arnold would be a great All Whites coach

Ray Gatt has since clarified he got that information from Creedence Clearwater Revival.

Ray Gatt seems to be rather close to Arnie, so I asked him if he thought the job would appeal to him. He didn't think it would and that he would probably come back to an A-League gig.

Arnie has also said he's done pretty much all there is to do in OZ and wants the overseas challenge. Where he'll find that? Lower leagues in UK? China?

Kotahitanga. We are one.

Would be a good choice but only if he stays until Russia. You would imagine that being the coach of the AW's would prevent him from coaching outside of Australia for the foreseeable future. If he still has aspirations of coaching in a higher league then this would only be a temporary job for him.

Saying that the current AW will be peaking around qualifying and the WC (and have a fighting chance of qualifying) so it will potentially be a big stage for Arnold to show his talents if he wants to move into the big leagues, and he obviously knows McGlinchey and Roux well.

So I guess the questions that come out of that (if you assume that the speculation has an element of truth)

1: Have interviews been conducted?

2: If they have, then you would assume that NZF have the independent report in their hands. When is that coming out?

3: If there have been no interviews, is this a head hunt offering him the gig or have NZF asked Arnold to apply?

4: If its a head hunt, you can bet this is not Andy Martin making the call as he is new to the landscape. Who is making these calls then? FDJ? FVH?

Just interesting questions if you assume there is some truth to the speculation.

In a story today on the SMH website about Sydney FC's quest for a coach, I found this nugget which seems to answer a couple of Jeff's questions.

"Graham Arnold has emerged as a favourite to take charge of Sydney FC but has not yet received an official approach from the club. Arnold has already received a multi-year deal from Newcastle Jets as well as an offer from New Zealand Football to become the next All Whites coach. He has already twice met with the Jets since returning to Australia from Japan and is set to meet with New Zealand Football next week."

I really hope we come in with a strong offer here, but you'd assume the Sydney FC job is more favourable.

I'd be content with having Arnie as both All Whites and Newcastle coach. It might even help some more fringe All Whites players pick up A-League contracts.

Sign him up now!!

Sydney FC is a poisoned chalice though isn't it? Who has lasted there for any decent period of time?

I'd be happy with Arnold, more than happy actually. Really like to see him take on a kiwi assistant to develop as well, if possible.

Probably financially feasible if he's got an A-League gig as well.

It would really show some initiate and ambition by NZ football if they snared him. I however think they will take the cheap option in emblem. p>

Lavica for 3 years. He did quite well.

If you are old and wise you were probably young and stupid

Arnie looks set for the Sydney job, guess that measn he wont be able to do double duty with the AWs

The fact that Gatt calls it the NZFA and mentions the government are involved makes me think this is horse.
