We will not qualify if we are facing Mexico. No chance. Herbert is away with the fairies if he thinks we would have a chance. With the style he plays, we seriously seriously struggled to beat New Caledonia.. lets get real here

One of the joys of being a fan is the ability to be optimistic. You can choose to be one of 2 things, miserable or positive. Neither stance affects what happens on the pitch at all - so why choose to be pessimistic? Have hope, believe, aim big.

I'm optimistic that you don't have too many threads.

There is a big difference between being an optimist and a realist. I'm sure every NZ fan is hoping that NZ play an amazing playoff series and somehow battle their way through...thats called optimisim..

The reality is somewhat different. Our coach appears to have lost his mojo. We have only played two games this year where as our opposition will have played close to 20.  Only 100 days from the games and there is currently NO confirmed  warm up games. Several key players have retired(Nelsen, Elliot) and several key players are currently injured(Rojas, Smeltz) Our last appearance we only just beat New Caledonia....a team of mostly amateurs from an Island with the population same as the  Hutt Valley, and we played like shiite. We will end up playing a team that is considerably better in all aspects than Bahrain. That is the reality.

That is to say that we do have some sort of chance. One thing about Ricki is that he does know how to set up a team that is hard to break down. If we go over there and park the bus, get 10 behind the ball and come away with a 0-2 loss then all is not lost. If we somehow could nick a goal and come away with 1-2 then it is game on in Wellington. The irony is we do now have quality all over the field, except in DM. If NZF gives Ricki the warmup games he needs to get the team in some sort of shape and if everything goes our way over the two legs then we could get through......thats optimism, or maybe just blind hope.

I'll always try to be optimistic but when you read that Honduras would've had 17 games by November and Panama potentially 22 and New Zealand just 6? I tend to not be so optimistic.

We're going to be so underdone IMO

Why all the angst about something that is not in NZFs control?

We play who we play. Still have to score more goals than they do (over two legs).

My point is, as fans we don't have to be realists. We can afford the luxury of optimism.

I don't want to appear a realist, but it is a big call to say we have quality all over the field except DM. Lochead and Bertos are still our number ones. One has just been cut and the other likely warming the bench in the A league this year.

Haha AP it was more in response to leggys comment that its not going to matter after we lose 3-0 and the general pessimistic attitude :)

It'd be a boring forum if all we said was "we have quality everywhere, we are going to win the World Cup" without any sort of analysis etc that you just provided.

RH not worried if we have to play off against Mexico.......

I'll have what he's having.

Maybe he's recalling previous - his debut in All Whites 4-0 victory over Mexico @ Bill McKinley in 1980. Now wouldn't that be nice!!!!!

still a form slump. Would benefit us for sure

10 per transaction the email said but sounds like you can get more if you do a group booking via Ticketek.

Fuc*in Jetstar. I booked 4 of us months ago (on a hunch the game would be in Wellington), and then this morning our Wed (the 20th) morning flight scheduled for 1030 has been moved to 655am, and the return flight on the Thursday scheduled for 1150am has been moved to 810am. Can you imagine the state of us at that early hour...

One of my mates has pulled the pin, as he has committed to something first thing on Wed morning before going to the airport.

Yer my brother was on jetstar and got changed to day before but Black Rebel Motorcycle Club playing the night before so he heaps happy.

If its a group booking through group booking phone number no limit on tix and $12 total booking fee plus credit card % fee. That's what we doing sounds cheaper.

Well done Ticketek for once.

The original email said you could call Ticketek on 04 384 3842 for group bookings of 20 or more, so perhaps that would work.

I was able to book 16 on the group bookings line, so as long as you have 10 or more I'd try that.
