Yellow card in the 57th minute. He was subbed off at '60

Bleacherreport is a garbage website.  They often get facts wrong, and to such a point that it appears as though they are made up.  To be fair, I searched "Chicharito yellowcard costa rica" in google and several other sites also share the belief that he was:

http://www.goal.com/en-us/match/97780/costa-rica-vs-mexico/report
http://www.manutd.com/en/News-And-Features/Football-News/2013/Oct/hernandez-faces-world-cup-2014-play-off-as-valencia-and-henriquez-countries-qualify.aspx
http://www.sportingnews.com/soccer/story/2013-06-11/mexico-costa-rica-world-cup-qualifier-chicharito

I was watching the Telemundo broadcast, and while my Spanish is spotty at best, the reaction from the announcers paired with Chicharito's reaction lead me to believe that he was awarded a yellow as well.  As mentioned above, if it was rescinded, so be it, though there should have been some sort of presser or news update regarding it.  Seems a bit off.  Based on what I have been reading out of Mexico though, I do not think that he will feature in either match against the All Whites.

After going back and looking at the video, you are correct.  Acosta is #2, and according to the game report he was issued a yellow in 57', which would is the same as the video's time stamp 2T (Segunda Tiempo - Second Half) 11:23 (45' + 11:23).  It would appear as though Chicharito was protesting because he felt a red was deserved.

Still, I do not believe that he will feature in either game.

It really does not matter whether he is playing or not. Who ever replaces him will still be a very good striker.

Given that ACFC beat ccm a few years ago who beat Celtic who beat Barcelona. Then add to to the mix that both OTAGO and Waikato have in recent years drawn with Auckland then we should fill the team with asbp players and we'll smash Mexico... Get in!

It's confirmed Hernandez will be eligible v NZ now & Mexico coach says he's now in the reckoning (suggests even he thought he was suspended):

http://espnfc.com/news/story/_/id/1593914/javier-hernandez-eligible-el-tri-vs-new-zealand?cc=3436

The Mexican Football Federation on Thursday clarified the eligibility of Manchester United striker Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez and said he would be considered for El Tri for the Nov. 13 and 19 World Cup intercontinental playoff vs. New Zealand.

"'Chicharo' is not suspended, this was talked about a lot but he is not suspended, so then he is an eligible player and that changes the situation a lot," El Tri coach Miguel Herrera said Wednesday night on TV Azteca.

Mexico Football Federation team director Hector Gonzalez Inarritu told ESPN's Jorge Ramos y Su Banda Thursday that although members of the media may have seen Guatemalan ref Walter Lopez hold up a yellow card and gesture that the yellow was for Javier, that was not the case (in the statistics).

"After the match, he (Hernandez) told me he had not been issued the yellow card," Gonzalez Inarritu said.

"Here it is not like all the rest of the leagues in the world that after the match the referee hands in a report. Here, FIFA, the commissioner and the entire group of referees put together the report and four, five days later they send it to the associations. Ours arrived the day before yesterday (Tuesday) and the only yellow cards handed out were for Jorge Torres Nilo and Rafael Marquez.

"Javier Hernandez is eligible to play in the first match vs. New Zealand should Herrera want to call him up."

(Some video too)

The Mexican team started with the right foot was Miguel Herrera as national strategist. The national team won 4-0 at Altamira in the Liga de Ascenso in the first duel preparation aimed Plus Size tuning of Playoff matches against New Zealand.

From the first minutes the Mexican team owned the ball and drove the pace of a game that was characterized by constant screaming on and off the field to coordinate movements in both defense and offense.

Herrera ordered the court to Muñoz in goal, its traditional line of three with Rafa Marquez as a sweeper, 'Maza' Rodriguez and Herrera central left and right central Equihua as; Miguel Layún as lane by Paul Aguilar left and right.

Medina was the owner of the containment, while 'Gullit' Peña and Montes were the flyers left and right, respectively. Forward Oribe Peralta and Aldo de Nigris were the forwards.

Just after 6 minutes, the 'Maza' Rodriguez took a corner to get the 1-0 on the scoreboard with a good header and tilt even more control of the party.

Montes had a large share being the link between the midfield and strikers and 30 minutes before a ball crashed off the crossbar, with the feature surprise appearances in the area.

That was how he found the second and third goal of the match at 33 'and 42', including the first of his double fooling the defense and breaking out of place where they had fallen De Nigris and Peralta, but finished in good position coming back.

All the team changed for the second time. Corona in goal, Valenzuela as released, Mier and Aldrete as the left and right central, and Edwin Hernandez Salinas carrileros; Molina in contention, 'Quik' Mendoza and Escoboza as flyers and forward Raul Jimenez and Mark Cross, American youth who completed the computer.

Some tests performed Herrera in his defense, because at times Mier was the libero and central Valenzuela right while Escoboza overflows paid off at 76 'when he put a good run down the left that the young Cruz came to close to 4 - 0 final.

Raul Jimenez was causing more participatory man saves couple and post, while Hernandez did Escoboza and good combinations for left.

They were two-time 50 minutes both teams who played and thus the Tri continues its path to the collation of next Wednesday against Finland in San Diego, in what will be the last test before facing New Zealand on November 13 at Estadio Azteca.

Two goals from Luis Montes helped Mexico to a 4-0 friendly win over second division outfit Altamira on Saturday, as Miguel Herrera and El Tri continued preparation for the upcoming playoff against New Zealand.

Francisco “Maza” Rodriguez opened the scoring early for El Tri, with Marco Cruz – an America Under-20 player brought in to make up the numbers – adding the final goal.

Mexico started the game in Herrera’s usual 5-3-2 formation, with Moises Munoz in goal, Rafa Marquez, Rodriguez and Miguel Herrera in central defense and Paul Aguilar and Miguel Layun as the wingbacks.

In midfield, Juan Carlos Medina played the holding role with Carlos Pena and Montes further forward linking with strikers Oribe Peralta and Aldo de Nigris.

After the game, coach Herrera gave a press conference in which he stated how pleased he is with the work El Tri has done in training, but stressed the real test will be against New Zealand.

“It would be the stupidest thing on our part to underestimate any team, partly because we are suffering,” said Herrera.

The coach – on loan for America – added that he feels New Zealand will use an aerial approach and that next Wednesday’s friendly against Finland in San Diego should help in preparation for the World Cup playoff.

In other news, Herrera acknowledged that a replacement player could be called into the squad depending on how Lucas Lobos’ family situation develops and said that Rubens Sambueza is now a Mexican citizen and should receive his passport in the next week.

Felt the same way after finishing it.

Totally disagree.

IMO Rattue makes some good points. Don't want to rehash the Confed debate but its true.....the AW's only really get a handful of proper competitive games every 4 years and there is very little to attract fans to the international game here. Also he is correct. Oceania is a dog and the momentum from the last campaign has long since stopped.

If we fail to beat Mexico then the international game here will stagnate until sometime in 2017

+1

Sorry to spam you like this, but I've written what I think is a considered response to the Rattue piece here for anyone interested in having a look:

Correct. FIFA website has done the time calculation between Mexico & NZ wrong - daylight saving ended in Mexico last weekend, so we are an extra hour ahead.
The game is 9.30 am NZT
Ignore any info such as this which ignores the daylight saving change:

It says 8:30am NZT on the Fifa website which is 2:30pm in Mexico.
