Exodus TW has 40 ASB Premiership footballs to give away at Sundays game at Newtown Park (3pm) to the first 40 primary school aged kids through the gate.

Jnr Jnr - completely unprompted - asked to go to the game this weekend (now that the Nix have finished).  We did this last year too.

This fixation with coal-face football is worrying me.

MC Smithy and News on the mic as well.

A home loss heading into the business end of the season not a good omen for Team Wgtn.

TW were just not in it today.Again , Imray was their best player which is kind of depressing.
0-1 until very late in the game.TW equalised but ( as is often the way), conceded almost straight away.
Hicham then got sent off for what I can only assume was retaliation and getting involved in something that didn't concern him.The sheep sh....er from the bay who started it didn't even
get a yellow. But Hicham should have known better.)
One player who did impress me( best player on the pitch IMO) was no 12 from HB ( ?Irvin/Irvine sp)Quick , good control , can beat a man and scored a very very good solo goal right at the death. Not seen him before but he was very impressive.
No Eager- is he injured? They missed his calmness today.

I don't normally comment on refs because they have a difficult job but today's guy was poor.Tried to let it flow but lost control at the end and shoul dhave blown a few things earlier than he did.

Still , afternoon in the sun , my boy got one of the free balls and..well , that's it really.Football , sun , a cold one and my little boy with a big smile on his dial- perfect.

12 - Andy Bevin.  Was excellent for the Phoenxi yoof season as well.

'ickle' Mikey Eager has moved to Brisbane to go to University.

The reason Taylor wasn't booked (we believe) was because Tade was booked for simulaton for the initial foul.

Pretty much ditto for me (our 2nd ever TW game).

Highlight was the commentary box egging on the handbags battle in the last part of the game.

A bit of chat with Stefan the photographer, a couple of hotdogs for the kids.

The programmes are FREE! As are kids' entry and only $5 for grown-ups (it seems I am one as it turns out).

Jnr Jnr already keen to see the match against Manawatu at the Mar in two weeks' time.

I ran over to the HB goal to take pictures and heard the refs talking.
Kamri was sent off for the push.
Tade got the Yellow for Simulation.

There was more going on in that scrum and when the Ref talked to the linesman to find out about another incident in the scrum, the lino said that he could not tell who did what. So whatever else happened, was left unpunished.

Tbh it was very poor simulation.

Not really A-League level of simulation.

Smith was poor for HBU. Bevin was class. Fifi was worse than Smith though. Wellington were outplayed all over the park. HBU deserved the points.

Fuck this stupid game

He was pushed or 'struck' in some way though. He just tried to milk it because it was in the box. What do you expect from a South American!

I think the ref felt the pressure of the assessors watching tbh. Missed some big calls. Not that I think it would have changed the result.

From the stuff website and Sam W quoting Stu Jacobs:

"Our goal is building for the semi but on that performance we've got no chance. The people that we've got to persuade to come back now are the spectators, because we want a full house at Dave Farrington for the semifinal and this performance won't have".

What is a full house at Dave Farrington Park?

(and will there be a sausage sizzle?)

It's pretty tight with 1000 in based on Big Cup United vs Mar last season (think it was 1000).

OK, thanks.

We'll get there early - probably just two of us this time (boys trip).

I remember for the first game of summer league football it was officially sold out at 1500 - must have been about '95 I think?

6th March game vs Youngheart moved to Newtown because there are issues with the turf at Farrington Field.

Game now 16:00 as well (probably Athletics clash I imagine.

Somewhat less convenient time but hopefully still do-able.

Nothing wrong with Karori multi-sport arena.  Cricket in summner, water polo in winter.

(Splash Planet is a better name but it's taken already).
