Like it was "drained" last season?

Or actually drained?

Game now 16:00 as well (probably Athletics clash I imagine.

Somewhat less convenient time but hopefully still do-able.

Way more convenient time, wish they would go back to the season 1-3 times, way bigger crowds back than as timing was better.

A dog with a bone :)

This will be a match of divided loyalties. Jnr Jnr will be supporting the green bucket lot (something to do with his first 6 years of life).

2-2.
SOme random thoughts.
Once TW woke up , ( Imray with a great double save inside 5 minutes) they went 2-0 up by half time.Second half , they were poor and Manawatu scored 2 deserved goals.
I haven't seen Stu as animated or heard him as loud all year.
Tade- very very good goal but I've said it before- he must be a sh*t to coach.Lazy as f..k on defence   .At one stage in the first half ( defending a free kick) the TW left back was marking 3 players and Tade was scratching his nuts.Stu gave him a rocket for this.
All game there was a gaping hole in front of the back 4- really hard to tell which of the midfield was holding- didn't seem that either Patrick or Halikas were picking up when the other went forward.
Abba/Fifi- don't see what either offers. Regularly gave the ball away after first touch.Really poor today but they've both been essentially crap all season.
Sat next to Jim-bob from Manawatu in the second half-  funny guy  , self confessed best coach in the world.
On the way home with Jazz junior , we were wondering what was different when the boys were playing better earlier in the year.   One thing- playing Ryan Cain as a winger  with Robson bombing up and down the right wing did seem to be effective.Robson rarely gets forward as much nowadays and Cain isn't a central striker ( at least to me).
No doubt there will be a more succinct report from News later but jeez, this was frustrating at times.

Enjoyed my first TWs despite the result...

Thought Wellington looked a little tied after half time?

Yes , he has. Like I said , his goal today was very good ; made space well and finished superbly. Not the first time he's done that this year either.I watched him in  the half time break  last week ( against Hawkes Bay) taking crosses from Sutherland; he nailed three overhead goals in a row and didn't look like missing.
But , he drifts in and out of games , does very little tracking back and I stand by my view that's he's lazy in defence.Still , I like watching him play ( frustrations and all).

Do you think team welly can go all the way?

On evidence from the last few weeks, not a chance.

But one always hopes.

This.

Not enough Eager and too much arse saving from Super Phil Imray.  Some promising youngsters doing good things and experienced players having moments but not a title 'team' on recent form.

Honours even between myself and Jnr Jnr in this dead rubber. We were thinking of leaving with 10 mins to go - he's crowing about the scoreline now.

In all honesty I think Manawatu could have been 2-0 up in the first ten minutes and might feel that they should have got 3 points.

Any idea what time /day next weekend the humiliation at the hands of the 5th best club in the world will be?

Thanks EG. Can't believe I've gone from 1 TW match last year to 2 so far this year and one more likely.

Might have to go to the Bernina centre soon.

Nope.
Like News said , I think they really miss Eager .Even Imray made one absolute cock up today which could easily have lead to a goal. But honours even , he saved their asses twice in a row in the first 5 minutes and has been their best player for most of the season.
Still , hope springs eternal. We'll be at Farrington regardless.

Yeah Stu Jacobs plays him as an attacking midfielder rather than striker [the position he's used to and has mostly played as] which obviously requires a bit more defending.

Deffinately missing eager. Although, Halikias is usually better than he was today to be fair.

Farrington Park would have been bursting with that turn out today. By the way - are the turf issues resolved there?
