I don't think its a really smart idea picking holes at other peoples teams. You respect what they are doing, say some nice fluff and leave it at that.

Somebody had to say it and hes pretty much spot on.. the youth here isnt what it was, and even the good players we have just leave to uni (nothing you can do about that). but the development system in hawkes bay is terrible! And jeff vader you dont just sugar coat things for people because its the nice thing to do.. what a silly comment to make, obviously this declan guy is not just a yes man pushover, he says what he thinks and gets his point across its much better than hiding behind other peoples point of views and agreeing with them just to fit in.. have some guts. You need to put your hand up and admit when things are not working get over the egos that are around and look to build in the future again.
I feel sorry for chris G taking over in that set up chandler left.

Prob one of the better games Ive seen Shaun peta player .. ever, to go as far and say they back four played well... dont know about that chris g, alot of the time there were big holes in the defence and the pace of krishna feni  and lovemore killed the hb united defence if only they knew how to pass to team mates for easy tap ins or finish one on ones the game could have been 5-1 to the vistors, anyway a win is a win even though the game was sh*t and prob the worse waitak performce ive ever seen. Andy bevan what are you doing? playing wide right and not wanting to take on the left fullback at all?

I thought this was one of the best HBU team performances Ive seen. Greatholder changed his line up and benched the likes of Cowan and Watson [who was benched last week too] and had Tom Biss returned to the starting lineup after finishing last year in an accomplished fashion.  The team played with intensity and passion, something lacking recently. No doubt, Sean Peta had the game of his life and without his efforts Waitakere would have taken the game. I like watching this team even when they lose, there is something about them to enjoy.

what game did you watch? Tom biss just ran around and never caught up with the ball. seriously the only reason you could say it was good for hb united is coz they won and waitak were just so poor on an obvoius off day. to say that was a good performance is very bold. Most frustrating team to watch ever is more like it. players who played well yesterday were peta, hindmarch? and tinnon. still alot of players just passengers in the game. defend defend defend then hope for a goal against the run of play is not fun to watch.

Wow topright - what a bundle of joy you are. I'm with Napier Phoenix on this one. I was proud of HBU's perormance yesterday.

Its just funny how everyone thinks they are world beaters now. The truth is still there in front of you bu tyou do not want to see it. i understand its your local team and you want to support them fully good on you, your always gonna side with them thats fine but the win shadows real danger signs. I find it odd that noone else noticed how easy the defence was getting sliced open by waitaks quick guys??? i just know there can be alot better performances than that, im not gonna build them up on that performance which was average made better by a very poor waitak display.

Fair call. I don't think anyones calling them world beaters, jsut that they showed a lot of pride and had a great day. don't forget they were missing their captain, bill robertson and were playing midfielders in the backline yesterday. there are signs that they are getting better. When you say 'your team', are you not from the bay? Did you watch the game?

Yes watched the game, i have thought they have always showed pride just the fact that the have a bad day against teams who fork out alot of money for players doesnt mean in past games they havnt showed pride and passion. Theres players floating around the hawkes bay area that would def boost that team though e.g. Jarrod Smith hes back is he even training with the team? they force themselves to play midfielders in the back line when you have ppl like adam cowan refusing to play cb in your team.

Jarrod Smith? In fairness he is a good footballer but he is injured more often than Jacob Oram and Shane Bond combined. His hamstrings are more fragile than a steeple in Christchurch. If you could get him on the park for the last 6 rounds, that might help push for a play off spot.

and from what I've heard Cowan does what he wants. No good for the team, get rid of him.

Yea but jarrod isnt asking for money so what does it matter having him in the squad if hes fit. In regards to adam cowan thats one player really if you look at the auckland city waitak and team welly even chch theres more money thrown around there surely.

Yeah but it's a lot of money for one player - player with a sh*t attitude with no pride for who he plays for.

Having a sh*t attitude cause he toughed it out for a long time at an up and down Manawatu team and playing out of his natural position.... Yeah that's tough to label at him. He may not be the most skilled footballer in the world but he is fit as f**k and tenacious - the same qualities that seem to make SigmUnd popular...

Cowan at a training this season: "f**k this is sh*t I should have stayed at Manawatu".

Real good for the team that.

Fit but a c**t. Not the same as Siggy sorry Jeff.

SigmUnd plays for the team though no matter whether he has to play centre back, right back or start from the bench thats the diff between him and cowan. Cowan thinks hes a striker now doesnt he?

Ok I accept the comparison to SigmUnd was not the best one to make so apologies

I think he always a striker. He then got moved back down the pitch and has started coming forward again.

I'm not close to the team like topleft seems to be but I stand by my comments on the quality of that game. My observations on game day are that Cowan seems a bit of a c**k, just little things i notice rather than anything that really stands out. I think Gillespie [his mate] might be a little bit in the same mould. Watson is a lazy bugger and this has probably been why he is relegated to the bench, he doesn't put 110% effort in when on the pitch.  Come on Topleft, give us all the juicy gossip!!!!!

OK my mistake. Do you think Grant Hasting should apply for the Hawkes Bay united youth team coaching role next year? It could be good for him and the franchise? He has the CV for it and if he could get the youth team firing it would really help the first team.

Shouldn't this be getting done every week from someone at HBU?

Defending 101 for the pens, ball watching and out of position pretty poor.

White Ribbon Community cup result today:

HB United 5
[Stu Wilson x 2, Danny Wilson, Stephen Hindmarsh & Matt Hastings
YH Manawatu 0
Jamie O'Connor had a penalty attempt saved and he was harshly sent off for colliding with the keeper when trying to kick the bal again.

Horrible conditions - not so wet but windy and cold, we've not used to that type of thing in sunny HB.
