Yes.  Amusing isn't it.  I'm knackered from all the time I spend not doing anything for NZ football.

Fixed that for you. For the sake of accuracy. Unless of course you and your little band of bittter and twisted mates are arrogant and deluded enough to think you speak for the entire population of Auckland

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

He clearly doesn't speak for all the City fanbase based on many of them who post on here.

NZ Football should stop feeding money into the Phoenix and trying to save them. Its Auckland City FC who are again playing on the world stage and getting football in this country recognized..Auckland City are the most well known Nz Club team around the world.

Great game yesterday and some great individual performances. Is Manel Exposito the best import to ever step foot in in this country???? total quality.

Great crowd in. O-League is a great competition and has a good format.

But they are'nt a club team!

I thought they were Central United FC + a bunch of summer loan players.

Fixed

I take back my comment about wanting to see a nix vs ACFC game.
Would rather see Y Tak take on nix after watching ABSprem final.

To make it clear - Im not a member of the chanting group as you may believe. And maybe you should come and actually come watch a match with me and find out more about ACFC (I know you think you know already too much) before you judge the supporters as most of us are just casual watchers, some more passionately than others.

Just out of interest Chris, how many Phoenix games have you attended?

Since I live in auckland, Ive visited none of the Nix games. Online, I've watched all last seasons games of the Phoenix and a few the year before, and a fair few of the Heart (which is currently my favourite A-League team - but I don't really follow them). I follow the MLS still though.chris.acfc2011-04-19 22:34:58

Not the reserves games against Waitakere (x2) and City?  At least one of which was before "last year, afer I decided to stop supporting the Phoenix"

Oh, and I've watched City plenty of times, both at Kiwitea and McLeod plus every time they have played in Wellington since the NZFC started.  Prior to that I used to catch Central quite often at Kiwitea.  usually by the 'chanting group' as I am vaguely acquainted with some of them.

It kills me that I don't support NZ Football.

Stopped following Nix last season after the Adelaide loss, and started to go to a few Auckland games, and hopefully more next year. Generally Auckland has quite a few more Nix supporters, so Im getting a bit of stick for following Auckland City. At least we have an ex-Barca player in our team.

Ive spoken with plenty of Nix supporters but they are too damn serious compared to those at Kiwitea Street. Just one of the pleasures of amateur football, is being able to relax at the game and chat with the players afterwards instead of treating them like gods.

The thing is,I don't think 99% of people here have a problem with ACFC,we'd support them in the CWC,and were very happy with the 5th place result. So to turn around and say nix fans don't support NZF doesnt sit well.

We support the Phoenix, which uses no resources other than terrys (youth side aside),but generates a massive interest in football (playing numbers are way up in Wellington),and also we support tge asb premiership.

What the hell is your problem with that?

So, you who admits he's never seen a Phoenix game can tell us how the relationship works between Phoenix players and the fanbase?

No. Idea.

Oh, and Amateur football.  Funny.

Anyway - there's only one God: his name is Paston.

Oh and Greenacre

(but not Ifill - he's the man)

If Nix supporters are too serious compared with your knitting circle - they must be a laugh a minute. They probably are because they bring so much lols to this forum.

Treating them like gods? Hardly.

I've had many a casual conversation with many nix players. Leo Bertos works in a coffee shop for gods sakes!

Maybe Get to know the relationship before you give your opinion on it. A lot of us support both the Phoenix and an asb prem side so if anybody knows about both relationships it's us...Tegal2011-04-19 23:04:04

Sorry Chris, that's just completely wrong (and I'm not even talking about the 'amateur' football thing).

The Phoenix are one of the most accessible sports teams in the country, an absolute credit to the club and the game. Anyone can just rock up to training, they are always out and about around town at events and such (or simply socialising - although Troy Hearfield will be missed!), visiting hospitals and schools, running kids programmes, etc etc.
