One nil at the half to the Olympic side although the Team Wellington invitation side (Phoenix Reserves) were the better side.  After the Phoenix side lost Pavs, Daniel, Paston, Smith, Mystery Asian player at the half.  Tsatallios and Griffith carried on.

The goal was from Jason Hicks.

Second half the Olympic boys looked much better as Team Wellington had their reserves out seeing as half the Olympic squad is Team Wellington staff.

Goals to Lucas and Musa made it 3-1 before they pulled most of the side.  The Silver Fox then got one for TeeDubs, lovely finish that swung inside the post.  In the end Hicks got another and a mystery midfielder for Team Wellington finished the scoring off after a triple save from Scott Basalaj.

Funny , looked to me and Jr that Lucas scored the first for the TW All STars.Oh well , must be blind.
TW Invite did look the better side in the first half but after the break things evened out a bit.
A few random thoughts
-Lucas , despite the odd brain fart , can finish
-Tyson (Aussie) for TW looked very sharp , like watching him play.
-Thought Smith played OK , controlled a lot of the first half.He and Pav clearly aren't on the same wavelength though , as evidenced by Pav having a full on tantie towards the end of the first half.
-Pav is a knob
-Cameron Lindsay played better the longer the game went on ( ?due to Smith not being there in the second half)
-Why isn't Grifiths a really really good CB?Clearly has the physical attributes required and at times tonight  looked really good but still part of a defence that leaked 4 goals.
-Haven't seen Jason Hicks before- he looks quite a good little player

You could have been right.  I didn't see who it was but those with me thought it was Hicks.

- I remain to be convinced by Tyson.
- Griffiths not helped by the rest of the backline.

Great game yesterday. Gutted with the result though Waitak have a couple of wingers with amazing pace but didn't offer much else I thought. How good is Eager?!

Ha love it!^^^ Was also quite impressed with Luke Rowe. Based on yesterdays performance, I hope no-one mentions Roy Krishna playing for the Phoenix

I'm starting to think Dakota Lucas could play in the A-League.

I wouldn't put my life on it, and I could well be wrong (I have been before) but the more I watch him the more I think he could do it.

Well last Sunday he played against Peverley and Clapham who are touted as being A-League quality by many and he was clearly better than both of them.

Then on Tuesday he scored two against a side packed with Phoenix players and triallists for the Olympic side.

Then again on Sunday he terrorised a Waitakere backline with three ex New Zealand reps in it and was better than Krishna who is also touted by many as A-League quality.

i was a sceotic but it's been one hell of a week. If only we had a youth side for him to try and prove it in.

My other realisation for the day was that a youth/reserve side in the ASB Premiership isn't the ideal solution. I suspect the NYL would be the only league where you could reasonably get a grasp of how players stand. Where they are up against A-League players.

Yeah but Krishna and Clapham are not A League quality.

Sorry you are advocating putting the ressies in the NYL comp to see how the fed youth go against the Phoenix reserves?

Lucas has a far better eye for goal than Pav. Just saying.

Peverely and clapham looked about southern league standard vs otago united both were nothing short of minging, both blamed there teammates for their own poor touches and lack of vision

I tend to agree with Hard News

I`ve seen the kid mature from an average youngster
Very busy, an absolute Pit Bull, must annoy the hell out of defenders, and he does score his far share of goals.
What I would like to see is a little bit more composure on the ball, Know when to slow it down. At present it all seems to be done at a million miles an hour.
Would being in a professional enviroment help? More than likely

Matty C should give Ricky a ring to alert him. I really like the Aussie too. Do you think the other young defenders will make it back into the starting line up? Musa and BRanch? Tyler2011-12-13 09:11:40

I've yet to be impresed by Holmes but maybe I'm mising something.

The defence question is interesting as Eager is pretty key in midfield and for me Musa, Schaeffers and Branch all offer about the same at centre back so you could play any of them there.

Wiremu offers slightly more than Cheriton IMO so maybe Matty C could leave Eager at the  back and bring Wiremu into midfield? Good problem to have I suppose with an overflow of good players
