If he stay's injury free up there this will end up being a very poor post come February. Any team would be lucky to have him.

How many clubs do Waiarapa have to pick from compared to Team Welly? Lower Hutt finished 9th in Central league and their 2nd team was 7th in third tier Cap 1. Those Lower Hutt kids must have played out of their skins at trials, huh?

Wairarapa have the same amount of clubs to choose from. They are not required to stay in their region . A look through their team list shows players from clubs throughout the Wellington Region.
Maybe Lower Hutt and Miramar players were not interested in Wairarapa because of club ties, but the same can't be said for the rest of the clubs. Where are the Wests players?

Can't answer that but when I see a team finishing 9th in a league contributing 10 players to a rep squad, I know something isn't working properly, somewhere.

you kidding? people berate Rapa seniors for not picking or breeding local players for years -and then you rip into them for picking locals for a youth league?

9th in a senior league though..
True, would have thought there were plenty of U21 players throughout Central league and Cap Prem; just surprised 10 from one club.
Kotahitanga. We are one.
Lower Hutt were doing a youth push for their Central league side weren't they? So it does sort of make sense that they'd have the most. 10 is proportionately high, could be club favouritism, could be Lower Hutt doing a good job developing young players.
Allegedly

Wasn't having a go at Wairarapa, just pointing a fact out to Global Game. That it happens in other teams. The results I guess will give us the answers.

Wairarapa have restrictions on how many players out of the region they can have after last years debacle with the team having virtually no Wairarapa players. The best part about the TW youth team is Lloyd O'Keefe's son still getting picked. It's like U11s where a dad volunteers so his son gets to play in the team. A couple of the LH players are certainly decent but 10 could be pushing it.

Yeah I believe Ole players are not available for nyl.
To be honest, I don't really blame declan for taking that stance.
Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.
Every coach favours players they're familiar with. And in a short league it's probably sensible. If you've got a chance to pick a lad you know who's roughly the same as a lad you don't know (based on very few trainings/trials) you're going to favour the one you know. Odds are you know how to get the best of them in a short time period.

Squad popped up on my Facebook news feed yesterday and I was expecting to see just Lower Hutt names based on the chat here, but there's a fair smattering from elsewhere.
A lot of kids I know in this bracket didn't bother to trial because, as we all know, it's a fairly short and underwhelming league. A lot of these lads are just keen to play U19s now and have a bit of a break after the winter.

A lot of players move to get a chance at the World club Championship and the exposure it bring internationally. (TW in with a shot again this Year)
That helps ACFC recruit the internationals that arrive late season. Its not all $$$$$$$$$
Rumour has it this is very true with Team Wellington's Mike O'keefe heading up to play for Auckland City this summer so he can play at the Club World Cup. Potentially Dan Clark making a return to national league after his stint playing capital 10 for North Wellington

With incumbent goalkeeper Michael O’Keffee deciding this year to concentrate on a career path outside of the game Exodus Team Wellington coach Matt Calcott acted swiftly in finding some worthy replacements,
“We are all sorry to see Michael go as he was outstanding in the time he was with the team but we understand these opportunities are rare and we wish him all the best. He is a gentleman both on and off the pitch and his presence around the club will be missed. Fortunately we have been able to sign two keepers of real quality who I’m certain will prove their worth over the coming months.”
Looking to impress is local lad Scott Basalaj who returns to Exodus Team Wellington after a two year stint playing in the Scottish Premier league. The former youth international made his debut for Exodus Team Wellington in 2011 playing two seasons before successfully trailing with Glasgow side Partick Thistle FC. He returned to New Zealand in April spending the winter with Central league runners-up Wairarapa United where a series of strong performances was capped with a call up to New Zealand A for their recent meeting with the Wellington Phoenix.
Basalaj is excited about the opportunity to be back with his hometown team, “I signed because it's a great opportunity to play and be a part of one of the country’s best teams. I was born and bred in the Wellington region so I'm very excited to represent the city.”
He added, “it’s great to be able to come back and work with Matt and Mark Oates again, people I worked with for a number of years prior to my time in the SPL. The quality of the players and the coaching plus the challenge that both the ASB Premiership and the Oceania Champions League present made it an opportunity I couldn't pass up.”
Another New Zealand youth international, Alex Carr joins Exodus Team Wellington after spending last season at Waitakere United. The Lower Hutt-born Carr was the youngest player to start in the ASB Premiership when he debuted at sixteen for Waikato FC back in 2010. He spent two Premiership seasons in Hamilton before taking up an opportunity at the prestigious Brown University in the United States. Having been recruited for Exodus Team Wellington’s recent O-League Campaign he was looking forward to the season ahead,
“After my experience in the O-League I was keen to play for Team Wellington again as I found the club to be a great organization to be part of. I’ve got strong ties to Wellington so I'm looking forward to rejoining the team and continuing my footballing education alongside some very good players.”
Exodus Team Wellington coach Matt Calcott was rapt at being able to sign two keepers of real quality and said,
“We are delighted to have a player of Scott’s talent join the franchise this season, it’s fantastic he has chosen to return to Wellington to play in the ASB Premiership and test himself at this level again”
He added, “Alex was with us in Fiji and despite not playing did extremely well and is very professional in his approach, he is a fantastic young keeper who has developed well over the last 12 months and did very well for Waitakere United in the summer and East Coast Bays during the winter. He is an asset to the franchise and will continue to grow as a player over the season”.
