Probably the worst Miramar Rangers side i’ve seen, they were very lucky to come away with a draw against a plucky mid-table otago-southland league side in University of Otago

The whole team was basically all midfielders? Are there no decent defenders in Wellington anymore?

Pressure might be coming on Matt C though. There were pretty high expectations of TW this year and I would say it was a disappointment so far. Still, it's the end that matters

Hawkes Bay looked marginally the better side in the first 45, albeit scoring through a questionable Pen decision.  Mulligan was then sent for a pretty ugly two-footed bobby and it changes.

Second half all TeeDubs.  I'll post my updates on the goals in the next while.

1-1 - Gillespie distributes the ball to Charlie Henry who takes it around Gillespie and fuinishes.

Fa'arodo goes around Gillespie but manages to hit the post with an open net...

2-1.  This time he is on.  Gulley beats hlf the Hawkes Bay team down the right before crossing low along the 6 yard line and Henry runs on to it and finishes.

3-1 Joel Stevens with a good finish from the right.  Celebration in volved a cartwheel and a full backflip.  High in style points.

4-1 Hamish Watson came on and first touch beats two men (well but then shoots right at Gillespie.  Rebound falls to Charlie Henry who with a little help from a deflection puts it in the top left corner.

Hamish Watcon incorrectly judged to have folued Robertson who in fact fouled Watson but ended up on the gro0und having come of second best from the illegal contact.  Some 'afters' as well.

5-1 Watson fired up by that absolutely smashes one from outside the area on the Team Wellington left.

6-1 Watson finishes it.  Beats aa man and finishes nicely across Gillespie into the far corner.

Impressive Cameo from Watson at the end but Hawkes Bay were gone once Mulligan was snet.

Honorable mentions:

- Mark Foster was sent from the bench in the aftermath of the HB penalty decision.

- Hawkes Bay midfielder with one of the worst haircuts seen this side of last season's Perth Glory.

- Stevens goal celebration.  Well played.

Weel you would suspect on that picture, it does not look like its going to end well.

I watched it from a lot further away and went on the referee reaction, player reaction and people who were closer's opinions.

His studs are aimed mid shin aren't they? Looks like a red to me, though that's purely from a static photograph ( which is a stupid way to try and disprove it being a red btw)

Jr and I were quite close to where that happened. Stupid fucking tackle , fully deserving of a red. Could every easily have ended in a nasty leg fracture ( not that that's a reason to send him off , mind).But the mindless stupidity of the tackle just beggars belief.

He was coming with full speed and jump-sliding in to get a touch at the 'ball'. Looked a pretty reckless.
