3-0 and it could/should have been more. Although if Peverly hadn't missed the early penalty who knows ?

It really was one way traffic all day and after the first five minutes I don't think TW threatened all day.

As commented elsewhere , TW effectively played 4 strikers and got owned in midfield.

Ifill was awful - mind was willing but the body was weak. No one really played well.

One of the two new Spainards for AC was outstanding (the striker - great 3rd goal) , the other one just average (but great free kick )

Calcott has usually got his tactics right against AC but not this time.

Would have to agree with chubbs .Drove up from the mighty Waikato expecting game of the season but TW left their midfield back in Welly to say Peverley and Ferneridis were poor would be an understatement. TW were the better team for the first 10 or so minutes, missed a pen then turned to crap. Great free kick from a stupid foul. end of game, Thought Myers Gwyther, Robertson and Hogg were the only ones that performed ???? sad to see Ifill struggling

Those two have been good at times throughout the season. Have thought that Feneridis has been a bellwether for us. When he's been involved in the play a lot we tend to be going good.

Peverly was very good before his injury. Hope this game was just a blip

What's up with the pitch up there?

Don't know technically what's wrong but looks to have the same disease that Fred Taylor has in almost the same place . Some sort of fungus killing off areas of grass. Most unusual for Kiwitea Street which is always immaculate.

Thought it might be stand related, as it's mostly down that side.

Council sprinklers shark them selves so those areas didn't get enough water over a very hot two weeks burnt off, but coming back though

Did well to contain Tom Jackson today, and Ifill, Smith and Gwyther carved out plenty of chances. Bechar was very average, where were Corrales and Fa'arodo? Agree that the team is very unbalanced with four forwards. Looked better when they switched to a 4-3-3 with Smith in an attacking midfield role.

Southern could easily have grabbed a draw at the end, TW looked very shaky down the stretch. Nearly got to see a classic Ifill goal - he jinked round a couple of players but blasted it over the bar.

Ramble over.

You know we belong together...

1-1 draw with Wanderers.

Subs were a laxative for our performance.

Lot of whingeing from players through the game.

So we get a semi final soon?

Permalink Permalink

Yes, but on today's performance, you will not make the final.  You will also need to recruit for the O league, otherwise you will just be making up the numbers - again based on today's performance!!

Really, Waitak should have won by 6 or 7-0, not just 4

Was it that bad or taking the correct route to final. Live from AusGP

TW were awful and were lucky it was not more.

Both times they have played in Auckland in the league this season they have been over run in midfield.

Were almost playing 4-1-5 and Butler, Mulligan and Biss had a field day (Bale was playing at CB otherwise it could have been even worse)

Not sure whether injury / suspension had an influence on selection but side is awfully unbalanced at the moment - the bits don't fit together at all.

Ifill was a lot better than against Auckland City but I wonder whether fitting him into the team had upset the pattern ?

Pity the poor fullback having to defend behind Corrales.

When you look on that line-up on paper, its far over balanced and reminded me of what I saw at Kiwitea.

I think for the sake of balance, they need to bench 1 of his front 4 for an extra midfielder. Whom that 1 is, would be the conundrum.

Do they have the stones to drop Ifill? At Kiwitea he was the least productive of the 4 although it seems he was ok on Saturday reading chubbs post. Reading the various posts, he has failed to really do anything it would seem.

Grumpy old bastard alert

Anyone shed any light on what's going on at the TeeDubs?

I am told that a number of players have declined to play O-League, including a bunch of the (expensive) out of town players.

TW have gone cap-in-hand to Cap Footy asking winter clubs to chip in so they can replace those players?

If true, surely anyone they're recruiting at this late stage will hold them to ransom and make a fortune?

Where's all the money from the CWC gone?

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.
