Scott Hales who is based in Palmy?? Or was. Where has that info come from?

Fuck this stupid game

Did well to keep Palmy in the Central League. I'd guess it's pretty tough to 'lure' players away from Wellington on a naff budget.

rumour has it that Scott Hales is the assistant and Ryan Sandford is working with the goalkeepers. Rumour also has it that training begins next week with a number of trial players on board and cuts to be made after an internal game next weekend

Hopefully they'll give Auckland City a good run again this season!

I didn't know Scott was still involved in serious football. He played the odd game for Gisborne City a while back but didn't realise he'd moved into coaching. Haven't seen him or his name for quite awhile though. Used to be Vinnie Jones like as a player! Or at least that's what he'd tell you

He works at central football as the Manawatu development officer or high performance or something like that.

Yeah I thought he was more admin than coach. Good stuff anyway, hopefully it's another good season for TW

I think they'll keep the majority of last year's playing squad.

Two solid players retained.

Tom Jackson, Ben Harris & Andy Bevin all retained for another season.

That's three more top quality players signed up.

Got to admit, as a City supporter, the TW setup is working hard in pre-season - them and Tasman have run excellent off-season content.

When a player is signed to a semi pro club/franchise like Team Wellington - do they actually sign a legal contract or is it a figure of speech?

There are contracts ('Amateur player agreements) - otherwise would be a free for all and players could chop and change at will.

Legally it's a figure of speech.

It's the transfer windows and a dose of 'honour amongst thieves' that keeps everyone playing by the 'rules'.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

NZF regulations refer to signing agreements - which would be legally binding no?

Parts of them probably would be (we'll pay you $x is fine, and if you don't return your tracksuit we'll dock your wage is fine etc etc). But the club would struggle to enforce things like "you can't play for anyone else" or "you won't go out boozing on a friday night" or "you won't post anything on social media that makes us look bad".

Then there are the practicalities of enforcing these agreements. Neither side has much leverage. A few hundred bucks on one side and withdrawal of playing services on the other side.

So they are more a statement of intent than a proper legal document.

Cheers for that. Interesting stuff. I guess franchises like Auckland City just honour the agreements and don't try and poach other clubs form players during the season. Can't think of a high profile case.

There does seem to be some movement come Oceania Champions League time which I like - strengthening squads - be nice to see a Stirling Sports dream team competing in the OCL.

Team Wellington is pleased to announce the re-signings of Lower Hutt City captain Taylor Schrijvers and Western Suburbs defender Billy Scott for the 2016-2017 Stirling Sports Premiership.

Schrijvers was a standout for Lower Hutt City in the Central League this winter and captained Team Wellington to their first National Youth League title in 2015.

So far, really enjoying the content coming out of TW via Twitter & Facebook so far. It's a real change to before. Almost like supporting a proper club who have media departments etc!!! Hahaha! Would like to see some video interviews or something like that - get a feel for what's going on in the camp.

Let them know your sponsorship budget/target and it could all happen.

One more player and we have a starting XI. Can I suggest Lewis Jackson or Niko Kirwan? But probably Musa if he is available. Who are we really missing? Bale, Hogg, leftfield thought - Lochead.
