no they were going anyway - raising the money is to try and break even rather than run at a (significant) loss

right. That's not quite how they made it out in their pleading for money.

Oh and I believe ManCity would pick up Liverpool on the team bus without any questions or complaint. (Maybe wrong here Kev)

Apple (Football Team) v Apple (Football Team)  Not talking Granny Smith v Splender

Apparently Team Wellington didn't even know about the welcoming ceremony. As for the bus, I can kind of get it as they are in the same pool at the competition so are their opposition. I'm sure they would have happily given them a ride if the team they were representing was in a different pool.

I'm an optimistic pessimist.
I'm positive things will go wrong.

Seems a bit petty - it sounds like it was an OFC organised bus and they had both TW and a few of Kevin's lot on the bus - not ideal but when in the Islands I think you have to just accept some things and move on.

an extra goal was put in place in front of that troublesome goal area, so it seemed to have survived.

As long as the rain stays away overnight, it should be fine. Drainage is pretty good.

There were a few places on the pitch where it would have been considered unplayable for national league due to the ball stopping dead in puddles, but they should clear away for tomorrow.

And the rain plays on. 6.30 am. Let's hope it stops soon

Watched the game yesterday among the group of Tasman fans. Thought 5-1 flattered TW a little - Tasman created some very good chances and hit the woodwork 3 times by my count. I think it was McPeake in goal, and he pulled out some stunning saves - particularly late on where Abot put a shot to his near post from a tight angle as he was moving the other way and I have no idea how McPeake got a hand to it.

TWs goals were all very well taken, great finishing from Harris, Jackson and Gulley(?). Hailemariam was disappointing but aside from that it was a very solid performance.

Ifill still has some class but maybe not the legs for 90 minutes. Tasman need to figure out if Coey's going to learn how to use his feet or find another keeper ASAP. He just doesn't inspire confidence - left 2 balls that ended up hitting the bar and the 2nd resulted in a goal. Next week could be interesting for tasman - 3 key players in Luca Perico, Alex Ridsdale and Cam Lindsay all suspended and the backline looking fairly thin on the ground.

Sorry but can you explain to me again why Nz Football use Head to Head rather than goal difference to decide this league.Under GD TW could still win this league.

The reason I heard was that due to the Oceania Champions League causing the last rounds to be split the Head to Head system was deemed to be a fairer method than goal difference.

Head-to-head is not a change for this season, so that's not the reason. It's not like it's not used anywhere (La Liga hola) else in the world, even if it is objectively worse than goal difference as a measure of team quality. Worst thing about SSP is that it's GD as tiebreaker up until the end of this weekend, then H2H once all games are played.

ahh then no real idea why, isn't it only the top 4 where H2H applies?

H2H is a good tie breaker for a tournament format (even then I prefer GD, it's just simpler to be able to look at a table and know the situation). But over the course of a season it's silly to use H2H which takes 2-3 games into account, instead of GD which takes every game into account.

Non-ramble version:

H2H = good for tournaments, but GD still simpler

GD = better over the course of a season as it takes every game into account instead of just the 2-3 that H2H does.
