Think that was the most entertaining game I've ever witnessed.

Also big shout out to Ryan Cain and Pascal Reinhadt for both asking us what the score was as part of their smack talk.

Give the guy a break mate, he'd taken a clearly horrible head-knock and couldn't remember where he was...

Can't believe physio let him back on the field when he had to ask the crowd what the score was while holding his head with 5 fingers, he was clearly concussed.

What about those penalty calls? Watching online through the stream it was hard to tell if there was anything in it

He was pretty stroppy about the penalties as well. The next few long throws he was telling the ref to watch out for dives...

"Meanwhile, the premiership will have another name change next year as Japanese billionaire Haruhisa Handa expands his involvement with New Zealand Football through his International Sports Promotion Society Handa organisation.

The competition will be known as the ISPS Handa Premiership for the next three years, having been known as the Stirling Sports Premiership this season and the ASB Premiership for the five seasons before that. It follows on from the Chatham Cup becoming the ISPS Handa Chatham Cup."

Did Sky have at least 1 camera at DFPark?

Sky had a camera there so assume their highlights video will come out Wednesday

Fantastic job Patrick!  Thanks for putting that out.  For a one camera amateur setup I thought you did a great job - better than some of the one camera highlights packages seen on sky.

I especially loved the insightful analysis that went with it such as "it could go either way" and "there can only be one winner.  Top notch stuff!

Edit: Did I just have a 10 minute fever dream, or was there originally a highlights video embedded in the post above?

yes there was, however was asked to remove while stuff is happening in the background. Will hopefully be posting again later.

I've got a question for the refs on the forum (or those who know the rules in general). Was it the correct call to yellow card the waitak guy when he grab the teedubs fella by the neck? Or is that red card material? Or just fair play to them? just curious about what the ruling is for that and whether or not the call made was correct

I have an amazing ability to find my way out of mazes. I'm pathological.

He was upset about all of that, I initially thought Zambrano was offside, and I was standing pretty much next to Millich. But I have seen the coverage since and it wasn't offside

The 1st pen Bill Robertson played Collett well and went down easily (although he was pushed but not that hard) I'm sure I heard Millich mutter "Well done Bill" after moaning to the 4th official

The 2nd pen I don't think there are many around that saw it that thought it was a pen apart from the ref.

He was telling the ref to watch for dives all day, especially from Joel Stevens

Here is my attempt at describing the game

Was it Sky that asked for the highlights video to be taken down ? Bit hypocritical if they did given they showed some of it on a Crowd goes wild on Monday night,

Permalink Permalink

They'll show theirs on the highlights show tonight. Asking to pull the full match video down when they have no intention of posting their own is a bit rubbish though. That game deserves to be immortalised on the internet.

I'm sure Sky will post their video tomorrow.

I completely missed that Sky had uploaded the highlights yesterday to their new Highlights app. Plus with the highlights show on TV straight before AW's and hopefully uploading to YouTube tomorrow - they've done a decent job covering the match.

Just wish we could still get the entire game up on the internet somehow - it deserves to be watched over and over and over.

Think the one on Jackson is a pen - two player sandwiched him and stopped him playing the ball. The one from the throw in on Robbo is... soft...

Disgusting tackle though, probably deserved the send off.  Should have been straight red rather than second yellow.

Where's the excessive force? He makes contact on the player with his knee. No contact with the studs that he led with.

It's a yellow card for reckless tackle - what argument would you justify a red there, chopah?

It's late, and he leaves the ground in trying to make the tackle.  I don't know how you justify it in referee speak but I know a red tackle when I see one.  Pointless discussion I guess as he still got sent.

Noob question: Is it socially appropriate to wear a Phoenix shirt at the game this weekend to support TeeDubs?

Permalink Permalink

Wear whatever you want, as long as it's not a Liverpool blanket.

But I'd say yes that'd be supportive if it's as close as you have - it's still a Wellington football shirt.

Watching him and Clayton Lewis play the same role for ACFC in the past two months, I know who the better player is, and it's not even close.

What a game! I am soooo glad I made the 26.5 hour round trip. The boys were outstanding.

End of an era.  Vinnie - It's over.
