Does anybody think that TW are missing out on a potentially larger crowd by playing this at DF? I’ve spoken to several people who are football fans and they all agree that DF is so far out of the way and such a PITA to park at etc that they can’t be bothered.

Obviously too late to change anything yet, but if they can replicate this success in the future it may need to be considered?

Where would they play?

Hey man I was only starting the discussion don't expect me to have the answers haha. But there is a few decent pitches that are more readily accessible and easier parking.

Newtown Park

Petone ( would they play on turf though ? )

Hutt Park

Endeavour

Not saying it's something they'd do, but maybe something to consider going forward?

The problem with the Hutt and Whitby grounds is that they'd make people from those areas more likely to go, but then the people from Wellington would be less likely to go, so you probably aren't achieving much. They played a televised game at Porirua Park this season, and the crowd may have been the lowest they had the entire season.

With Newtown I know there had been problems with the pitch before, plus you've got the Miramar/United thing.

Is there a decent bus connection to DF? If so, I have no sympathy for parking whining

5' walk from either of 2 stops. Come early and stop at Weta cave. You will always find a park within 5' walk of the ground also.

The bus isn’t exactly frequent on a Sunday though. So it’s still a pain.

Petone, Hutt Park and Endeavour are all open grounds so TW can't charge

Newtown Park could be used but the parking really is about the same as DF, possibly worse if there are lots of people going to the Zoo

The small enclosed feeling that Davey F gives also probably works in TW's favour and they have their own bar and BBQ - and TW need all the money they can get!

Team Wellington vs Liverpool! I like the sound of that

T-Dubs seriously could've been in double figures. They had all the opportunity to put the game to bed in the first half, but just frittered it.

Some great goals, especially the long range strike. Good also to see a  healthy size crowd at the game.

A very dominant first half, with a lot of work moving the ball to get clear chances on goal. (Many of which resulted into the ball being lost.)

Think this is the coach's style.  2nd half the opened up those chance and took a few other options. The Lautoka side had some good chance in the first half which came to not much.(No away goals)

But the pressure is where it should be for the 2nd leag

Fun game to watch - result never in doubt although credit to Lautoka for keeping the score to 1-0 for almost 60' but then they fell apart. There was a spell between the end of the first half and the start of the second where they had a couple of half chances - including a lovely run by Totori where you might have thought a goal could have changed the game.  But when Jack HS scored our second it was all over.

Shame to see them fall apart so easily as it makes the second leg a dead rubber essentially.

Hope to see TW at the CWC next year for a nice change!

You saying even Lautoka's subs couldn't score in the half time kickabout? :-)

Ahahaah well I wasn't impressed by their warm-up to be honest!

But seriously, I did shuffle on my [very wet] seat for about 15 minutes at one point and I was relieved when Jack scored our second.

I just wish there was something to play for in the return leg...

Record aggregate winning margin in Final is up for grabs. I think the record's 5.

Yes 5 is the record, Auckland did it 3 times, 9-4 v Koloale, 6-1 v Amicale and 5-0 v Team Wellington
