How was it? Seems that Waitakere just coasted it and Otago wanted it more.

Wouldn't have happened under Marshy. No direction, passion or leadership. Feel a bit sorry for the few who care.

Oh absolutely Leggy. We'd make a fine pair if we were both gay :o)

I've not exactly ever talked up Waitakeres chance or team so not sure what he is telling me.

looks like JHM is the one to make way - he has a pending transfer back to Birko from Waitakere.
Also Jacob Hall from WaiBOP is on his way back to Birko - hasn't played this season so just a formality I guess - although the transfer has been denied so maybe something going on there.
slightly un-related but Aaron Badwaker from Metro? to Canterbury United...

JHM    Was only playing till Xmas..

we only sing when were winning
Permalink Permalink

is that due to his injury or just because he wanted to be fresh for Birko?

Permalink Permalink

Probably because Birko is far more important.

Three for me, and two for them.

How long before Temple gets the chop? Awful coach. Complete imposter.

100% agree with you and said that at the start of the year.

One of those rare occasions we agree on something JV.

Seriously though his time has to be up soon. It's like Moyes at United. Totally out of his depth and looks clueless on the sideline. How many games have Waitak won coming from behind this year?

Still it opens the door for another team to crack the O-League which is good.

Three for me, and two for them.

At least he has his skinny little tie and pants.

We agree on a few things Buffon.

Waitakere's decision to spend all that money on McGowen and not on retaining Marshall has really come back to bite them. The good thing is either CU or HBU will probably get a crack at the O League alongside ACFC.

Ian Hogg needs to get out of there quick smart before he fades into oblivion.

he wanted too ...not required apparently ....bloody shame

I asked that question a little while back and someone had said that Hogg was not wanted by ACFC because he still had pro ambitions and may not have seen the season out. Ramon wanted all or nothing.

Kinda ironic really.

It's sad to see both Hogg and McGeorge languishing at Fred Taylor. They need to get out of there quick smart or it will stuff their ambitions to play at a higher level. The lack of enthusiasm on the field speaks volumes for what's going on within the team's ranks. Getting rid of Marshall was a disaster for Waitakere and it's going downhill from there.

Getting rid of Emblen was where it started. That was the first dumb move. Had he not gone, I suspect the likes of Bale and co would not have crossed town. Bale has been immense for your team.

Lots a dumb decisions at that franchise. Bult and latterly MacGowan just prove they have no clue about football.

I agree with Hogg needing to get out of there. McGeorge needed game time but is still quite limited and is a liability in making a tackle (usually a booking)

The reason why Marshall left was that Waitakere could not sustain the player budget from last year. They had to cut their costs because they were in financial crap. Marshall didnt want to a accept those terms

What they are paying McGowan would be far less than the player budget from last year

The decision was purely a financial one.

that is logical, but doesn't make complete sense

pearce is back, so only scott, de vries and krishna have really left.

to offset this, cardozo and lowden have come in

assuming that the new guys are paid less than the departed as you suggest, that means that two good players have been replaced by an administrator

They lost Bale, De Vries and Krishna and gained Cardoza and Lowden, not to mention Hogg and McGeorge. I would suggest their decline is due to the team's management. Had Waitakere not spent all that money on McGowen and put that instead into keeping Marshall and his assistants, and incentives for players, the club would be getting much more out of their on-field talent.

On the other hand I'm happy that both CU and HBU are taking the opportunity to push for an O League place alongside ACFC. Both these sides have good support and good facilities, unlike Waitakere. It's an embarrassment to have O League sides have to play on what's merely an open paddock at Fred Taylor. Waitakere's neglect in developing its facilities has always been shameful and flouts the original NAFC rules that stipulated a covered stand. Mind you WaiBop and TW flout that too, with equal lack of fans to match.

An average of 500 at Waibop games, I'd hardly call that a lack of fans. Heard there was 700 at last weeks game although I guess that's what you get when a marque team turns up.

Fair comment - Waibop had a good turnout... TW - not so much.
