it would be nice if we were at full strength so we could make a bit of a game out of it but i think in wilson we have one fit centre back in the club, and he is better in def mid. should be a stroll for spurs

Well done Pompey. You absorbed all we could throw at you. Enjoy the final - you deserve it.

Great result for Pompey. Not sure if they deserved it from what I have seen on the pitch (ref's decisions in ET were a bit disputable to say the least). Nevertheless, the deserved it after whole nightmare of a season this year. Secured sure spot in European cups next year which is always nice.
Good luck against the Blues.

Those were exactly my thoughts. Hope he's crying at home with Crouch and Defoe.

Ahh this is brilliant! WellingtonPFC must of loved it Wembley. Lucky sod haha.

Superb defence, asleep at some points, but luckily James was as solid as ever. My lord Coruch shoulda scored a goal at some points, but christ we were GOOD.

Only problem was, the pitch was HORRIBLE. They were slipping all over the place. Better sought it out for the final. Other wise we'll be watching Swan Lake again..

We will never fully decide who has won the football.

yea JT was having a moan about the pitch saying how easy it was to lose your footing. i feel good for avram, nice guy

cant wait for the final now!!

well that was awesome! we went with nothing to lose and won everything. granted we had a lot of luck but it feels like its all come in one game, think we havent had much this season. (Bobby Zamora scoring the winner off his arse comes to mind.)

great atmosphere and we looked half decent too, spurs are a much better side but we stood up to em. we we're destroyed on the train home and it was packed.

gutted to miss the boys in the finals series but Pompey are my first and foremost team and wouldnt have swapped that for the world!

PLAY UP POMPEY!

you have to be delighted to get pompey rather than spurs. You would have beaten spurs i think but this way it will be alot easier. fair play to you guys, think the double is on.

Good point sanday - forgot about the administration thingy. Sadly don't think appeals will work in this case - but would love to see Pompey adventure in next year's Europa League. I think it would help the club greatly in promotion straight away. 1st reason - easier to attract better players and sponsors with the potential of European cup games.

FA cup final 15th next month? Gonna be brilliant, can't wait.

Wish I could stay up and watch the match tonight, but I got a damn test in the morning. Not been much a holiday for me haha.

We're looking in good form I reckon. Hope we can keep it up. Also get that Uefa license, that would make this season a lot less painful.

I think it shows a fundamental flaw in the way the premier league is treating finances and especially debt to creditors and other clubs.

I hope we revamp to become more successful in the future.

Toon was rotten from the top down to the team.

Depending on how much of your squad is retained you could well be contenders (haven't kept tabs on your games but on the basis of your FA Cup semi I don't think you have too many prima donnas) to return in the following season.

Toon's owner is an idiot who put a bunch of numpties in charge and then rotated the gaffer's position every few weeks.  The numpties gave players inflated wages to go with their inflated egos and then they coudn't be @rsed actually doing what they were being paid for.

These day's the owner is a poorer idiot but he at least has seen fit to get rid of some of his management parasites (at the behest of Shearer btw) and has allowed Hughton to operate properly.

I don't think any club could be in such a state as NUFC was at the end of last season.

Thats a lot of detail, good to know though, always wonderd what screwed them over.

I think the Championship league will be much more comfortable for us though. our more skilled players or highly rated players, which ever one ya wanna go for, will probably move on from pompey, but at least it opens up for new blood in the club.

If you want to remove the debts, you have get into the EPL again and struggle to stay there for ten years on a shoestring budget run by a edgy manager. Focus on academy development and then selling youth players to better clubs for cash. The longer you stay in the Championship, the more you are likely to drop further down as you off load your good players but not have the money to develop. With the 119 million in debt, it does not look that good as already you have burnt many creditors bridges and is likely to be stagnate in local community cashflows.

EPL teams get 30 to 50 million per year, Championship teams get 3 to 5 million per year.

So really, it is in Pompey interest to get back up to EPL as soon as possible. The best chance is to win promotion back up is next season.

tbh, you guys are screwed. . . . AllWhitebelievr2010-04-23 01:24:29

If more than 75% of your creditors agreed to a reduced 20% of what was owed to you by Pompey, then you are out of financial administration. . . but you still have to run it on a shoestring budget. Your players will have take a 50% cut in their wages. It was all too ambitious to make for the big time. Without an very rich owner who is willing to take losses, you really can't buy the big name players to help gain EPL success. Best to stay with the players who will stick around on lower wages.

get all the fans to get together and give 10 pound each to the cause, then get a club rep (maybe that guy called portsmouth with the big silly hat) and take it to the casino to slowly but surely wittle away the debt

easy

Season ticket prices have been posted for next season and im pretty pleased with the drop. they will be 400 quid, which is pretty good seeing ive been paying 575 the last few seasons plus we get 8 more games.

(i just long for the NZ days and the ridiculously cheap sporting event prices!) how much is a nix season pass (as ya say) this season?

Not sure yet eh? I think last season they were around the 130 mark, but I get the feeling I am totally wrong there, but I assume they may be a bit higher as Melbourne Heart have been added to the mix..

Brilliant result, 3-1 against Wolverhampton. Only caught last 10 mins of it, but it was great to see us get a win.

I think what is important now to focus on is what will happen to Grant and some of the players after the season ends? Hope Grant doesn't leave is, that'd be a bugger, he's been working wonders for us and putting up with the administration.

We'll be paying around $280-$300 for a season pass to the Nix I think. Rates for students are excellent though, around $150. Haven't been confirmed. Thats for 15 games (provided GCU don't crap out), though one or two will be away from the Cake tin.

So I guess we do have it a bit cheaper, when you look at the exchange rate etc.
