Good to see a Yorkshire team back in.

Looking forward to the season but not sure we have the players to stay up.. Hopefully we can take the lead against Chelsea as we did on the first game of the 09/10 season I think..

I suspect when we are old and telling lies in the rest home, we'll be settling down to watch the London Gunners play the United Red Devils in the Euro Super League hyper play-off and grumble about how we used to watch the football on a 2d screen in a proper competition when teams had proper names.

Same people, different grumble.

(ps, I don't like it either)

I know, I know, its serious!

I actually can see what the guy is on about. It's fashionable to drop the name now and be called by icons. In AU-NZ sport. We've gone from the Wellington Hurricanes et al to the Hurricanes. NRL has done the same (it's the Warriors or Vodafone Warriors, not the New Zealand Warriors), netball started out like that. It's common in American sport. HAL still uses the city location for name i.e Perth, Adelaide etc. in the UK, City or United or Rovers is common place. From a marketing perspective, it's bringing new school to old school. I can see it, but I think the guy guy could be facing an uphill dig. Old institutions, like football teams, don't like change. Go ask the Wimbledon/Milton Keynes fans..

Grumpy old bastard alert

News is that we've agreed a fee of 5.25m for Tom Huddlestone. If this signing goes through it would be huge in my opinion. I've always rated Tom Huddlestone very highly

agreed Seb

if Huddlestone stays clear of injury he could be a bit of a prize

Livermore will also add value

happy to have these two instead of Evans and Cairney (Cairney in particular never really kicked- on from his youthful prem season)

yep Seb, we were less crap than them - and i'll take that all season long!

nerve-wracking going down to 10 so early

but yep gutsy performance

we seem to have a good spine McGregor, Davies/Chester, Hud/Livermore and Aluko/anyone who can stay on for 90 mins

Lost 2-0 to Man City this morning.

I watched the whole game and from a completely unbias point of view, the better team lost. We were all over City and could have easily been 3-0 up at half time. Sione Aluko was through 1 on 1 with Joe Hart in the 5th minute but completely miss kicked the ball (probably our best chance of the game). Danny Graham scored good goal but it was ruled out due to being a fraction offside. Koren came close with a powerful shot outside the box that had Hart beaten if it was on target. Really liking the back four of Figueroa, Davis, Chester and Elmohammady, and Huddlestone is already looking class and fitting in that midfield role very nicely.

It was a pretty poor performance by City even though they won. They hardly created anything which is incredibly rare. With that being said, the good teams always find a way to win..

pleased with today's effort, we were in the match until the 89th minute and could/should have gone in a goal up at half time,

if we can keep this form up we should survive

hopefully Aluko injury not serious

and I'd gladly see Mclean, fryatt & Proschwitz go out if we can get a premier league striker in

best deadline day i can recall, not so much that we got Gedo back - more that we came close to Shane Long as well

Gedo might do ok in Prem, and if Long does't re- skgn with WBA, he might be available and much cheaper in January

Hello Cardiff, welcome to East Yorkshire.

If you would handover 3 points before you depart for the valleys, that would be much appreciated.

Newcastle away next up

hopefully Joe Kinnear will 'distract' Pardew and/or a few of their squad this week

not just Huddlestone, there were a few good performances

pleased by the character we showed

hope we can hang on to Aluko and that we don't miss Chester too much

3 POINTS AWAY - nice!!

Huge result! 3-2 away at Newcastle.

I have to say, we are playing some great football. It's miraculous that we managed to sign Huddlestone, I believe he could fit into pretty much any team in the premier league. Aluko is definitely going to be hard to keep but hopefully we can hang onto him.. what a player he is. Chester and Davies are great defenders and Elhomamady is a really classy fullback.

Promising sings.. Let's hope we can keep this form up.
