Torres was average, Carra was poor... Reina, Johnson and Insua were all really good. And Benayoun! He was quality when he came on and I really think he should have started. Spurs played well and we were ruibbish. But the League isn't won on the first day, and we'll just win the rest. Onwards and upwards!

Mmm, he struggled a little bit at the start of last season and there was talk of him leaving. Always liked the little guy, he was West Ham's best player in the FA Cup Final a few years ago and was well dangerous. But he simply exploded at the start of this year and hasn't looked back. "His feet are two yards ahead of the defender, but his brain is ten yards ahead!" and also "Brave as a lion" are two of the quotes which aptly describe him. He defo should start at Stoke. Wonder who will play at the back. We need 3 points from this game! I'm hoping for no repeat of last season's result!

Looks like Skrtel is out for two weeks. Great...
Rumours that Barca are targeting Reira and Hertha want Voronin back permanently. I'm really not sure if we can let anybody* go at the moment. We need some depth to stay on top of injuries.
*Except for Babel.

Looks like his statements been pulled from his site. Not bad for $3m Euro though. I wonder if he can get to Anfield in time for Stoke tomorrow...
Yia it was made official about 6.00 am NZ (9 pm European time) I certainly hope so as according to my sources he was leaving Athens for London at 11 pm tonight...so yia he may well be available...hope he makes a difference to the team...however he may a bit short on match fitness...

Good to get the defender for short term, but would have liked to spent money elsewhere, if Voronin leaves then a reserve striker is needed.
'Kase-K' rumours stopped circling. I thought it would be good move to pick him up, in terms of a set piece player and shirt seller.
Real and Barca linked to Riera, not sure why Real or Barca need a left winger. Real already stocked with attacking players and Barca play a different shape.

Nice work this morning lads!! Much better performance. Johnson, Kuyt, Benny looked lively (Johnson was on form) Gerrard and Nando assisting well. Really only saw the second half but I can't recall Johnson being back that often, he was playing upfront and looking hungry.
Oh and Onya Burnley!!

Johnson was amazing today, couldn't ask for a better performance from a right back. Ayala looked good. Some really good interplay between the whole team. Was a little concerned by the amount of fouls given away in dangerous areas and Torres' head is a slight worry, but nit picking now.
Great day of football

And Liverpool chief Benitez revealed afterwards his signing of 2m Greek defender Sotirios Kyrgiakos is dependent now only on a medical. The AEK Athens centre-back, and former Rangers player, will fly in to Merseyside on Thursday and is expected to complete his medical by the weekend and will go straight into the squad for Monday's home game against Aston Villa.

My oldest brother John Gerrard will be at Anfield for the Villa game, he is presenting Stevie with the fans player of the year award before the game. He won the honour after winning a competition when voting for stevie in the PFA awards, he was also invited to the PFA awards dinner earlier this year but there were no Liverpool players there, he got to meet Ryan Giggs, Luke Young and some grumpy old b-----d with a red face who chewed alot, he said he didnt like him.

Horrible performance, you could say really unlucky with the penalty appeals we had turned down, own goal and manner in which they scored. Villa came in sat deep and were gifted 3 goals from our boys. Gerrard was particularly crap today as was Benayoun, hardly completing a pass and generally misdirected.

They hate Rafa already, no? We can still win it, of course, but we need to improve very quickly. Not much you can say about that game that I really want to talk about! Except special mention to Cuellar and the referee- nicely done, taking Torres out of the game. If in doubt, smash the f*ck out of him. And what was Gerrard thinking?! Ah, here I go. A big f*ck off for people who say our title chances are gone already, as well.
