Yikes! I probably should have qualified that statement a bit more... All the media reports I read up to the game talked about Fiorentina's poor form of late. Essentially not giving them a chance against The 'Pool. That's what it was in reference too. Where's that forum mind reader plugin when you need it...

Great, that. Thanks a lot.

Didn't see the Fiorentina game but wouldn't worry too much. Its a tough place to go to and would have taken the draw. The double header with Lyon will be tough, though, and now there is some more pressure to win. But we got Chelsea this weekend and I'd rather win that game than the Fiorentina one!

Played ok, mistakes from Carragher and Mascherano cost us goals and the game. Benayoun miss in injury time was pretty terrible, maybe could have had a penalty. Positives; thought Lucas was pretty strong (has played well thus far) and Mascherano too (other than giving away possession for goal), Reina was generally dominate in his box.

Up until the goal we looked good, goal changed the game Chelski then looked like getting a second, Benayoun then came on and we had them pressed back.

Exactly how I feel. Perfect. Especially the first half we were strong; Lucas, Masch, Skrtel. Thought Skrtel was good throughout, too. Drogba really is embarassing though. Just a complete cheat. Oh well, international break now. Lets face it, the title isn't going to be won at places like the Bridge for us, so we need to keep winning games and cut out these losses!! We have United later this month too, at Anfield, so that'll be a huge game.

Chelsea, Chelsea, Chelsea, Chelsea!!!!! The funny thing is about saying that the Bridge isn't the place that Liverpool are going to win the title, is that it is the only place you are going to win the title because the Bridge is where the title will lie in April/May, or earlier of course, Unless you guys or Utd do something spectacular or Ancelotti does A Scolari. Don't think that will happen and don't think Liverpool or Utd are capable of anything spectacular. Chelsea, Chelsea, Chelsea, Chelsea!!!!! ChelseaFCmhr2009-10-06 20:25:52

Where's a virtual fly swat when you need one...

I hope the international break isn't going to be disruptive. Even though we lost against Chelski sometimes it's good to just keep the ball rolling. We've got a huge month ahead after the break so we'll need to regroup well. Sunderland away will be tricky, who knew Bent could actually score Lyon and the Scum will be huge for our season if for nothing more than confidence to keep up the fight.

More drama coming at at Anfield I think:

Liverpool co-owner George Gillett has told a fans' meeting manager Rafa Benitez is to blame for their faltering progress, not the club's owners

Is what gillett said true though? Has rafa spent 128 mil pounds in the last 18 months? Or am i mis-interpreting the article i read?

I would expect some progress on that if it's true

I think (without really knowing) that he's included wages, transfers etc etc but given it as a round number to sound more impressive. I think we have improved anyway, defo since Rafa first came in. Besides, to show you how much of a liar that c*nt is, read (and watch) this: https://www.spiritofshankly.com/news/George-Gillett-_-We-don-sss-t-believe-you!.html

as the owners though, all they are asked to do is put up the funds when Rafa wants em. after that they dont do training, team selection, transfers, tactics etc. you can hardly say the last couple of games results are the owners faults can you?

Gillet and Hicks were suppose to make us compete with Man U and Chelsea (also Real and Barca...) in terms of transfers. Fans accepted foreign ownership in return for big transfers and a new stadium.

Yet all we have had is Gillet talking in the media, trying to get everyone on his side and everyone against Benitez. A racking up of debt that has limited our transfers and the pushing back of the building of 'Stanley Park'.

Exactly- the defeats aren't the owners fault. But they have been trying to undermine Benitez since they came in. I mean, they tried to get Klinsman (or however you spell it) to replace him. Rafa had the utmost support from the fans though, so they couldn't get rid of him. But we also don't appreciate them lying to us and being complete and utter t**sers about everything. Besides- go back to 2005 and look at our squad. The deadwood we had! And we still won a European Cup and FA Cup! I look at our squad and we have progressed immensely. Torres, Masch, Skrtel, Agger etc etc. As well as making Carra and Gerrard the players they are (have been).  In my opinion, its only a matter of time before Rafa wins us the League. Laugh all you like at my blind optimism!! Yanks Out!!

You mean City and Chelsea... and Sunderland I suppose.  United had a significant income from one transfer a couple of months ago which made our overall look quite good in comparison...

One another note, I was playing FIFA the other day and Anthony Le Tallec popped up. Took me a long time to remember who that guy was. Arrived with that other French bloke with a long name.

George Gillett "we have spent 128 million on players in the last 18 months".

Using figures from LFChistory.net Liverpool have spent approximately 100 million on players in the last 18 months. From player sales we have recouped approximately 80 million, meaning a net spending of 20 million.

The debt when the yanks took over was between 40-60 million, yet in the space of nearly three years that debt now stands at 245 million.

To all the fans from the other clubs who put their pennies worth in on a Liverpool FC forum, get your facts straight.

And to all the Liverpool fans, keep the faith. IN RAFA WE TRUST

Absolutely. I don't think we spent a penny on players over the summer, with the sale of Alonso we practically came out even.
