I see the ref has been stood down for a week or so. I guess he's off to the coast for some beach time. Maybe take his new red ball with him...
Definitely good to see Gerrard back. Hopefully Masch will play as well. R. Ball has been named on the bench...
Gargh, if you can't beat 'em, join 'em.

Interesting team for this morning's game. Kelly in at right back, Ngog up front on his own. I really hope these two play well in particular, coupled with a Liverpool win! Really need Gerrard, Masch, Carra etc (basically the senior players) to step up today.

Johnson, Gerrard, Aquilani and Torres all injured! Sounds like Kelly was great, basically the only positive to take from it. The Kop booing Rafa... Goodness me. When your team is down, that is when it most needs your support! Terrible stuff, though. Four defeats in a row.
Bring on your Manchester United...

Don't be hating on Lucas!! Carra hasn't been at his best either. I'd have Lucas on the bench in a heartbeat once Aquilani comes back. What good does selling him do? He can come in and do a job (see Old Trafford last season) even if you don't think he's good enough to start. And lets face it, most teams would struggle when they lose first teamers such as Riera, Johnson, Gerrard and Torres- as well as having Aquilani out. Meh, as Masch said, we've been here before; we just have to win the last three games!

Well call him up for this weekend! Beating Man-yoo would be good for both the might pool and arse!
Chin up lads, we were this sh*te for most of last season when Cesc and RVP were out...its balls, but hang in there, it will come right...

We need him! Hopefully he gets a little cameo at least. And hopefully we win!!
Thanks for that, mate! Very encouraging in a time when idiots are all over the place. Some positivity, belief and support is what we need. Go off and support United if you want trophies. But me, I'm here through the wind and the rain.

Right, got my positive hat back on (damn thing keeps falling off) It's time for the players to chin up, tuck their balls in and start playing some football. At the end of the day we can't blame the owners or Rafa, the team is largely the same as last year and we did alright.
I'm hoping they will lift themselves against ManU and show some of the fight and grit they displayed last season. No more of this backing down and cornering ourselves when under a bit of pressure.
Time to stand up lads

Is it time for a fresh race as manager? Or will this be like a 'win something or else' season. And also does anyone else think Lucas isnt up to epl standard.
havnt seen lucas play too much but sometimes players just need a few season when they are young, deneilson used to be crap but is awesome now
go gunners

Same with Fletcher.

BBC said today (rumour mill) that Liverpool can't afford to get rid of rafa as he has a huge pay out clause in his contract
Although this is probably an ideal situation for Liverpool as no-one is expecting us to win against the mancs

To be fair, you aren't close to the club. But anybody (with a brain) who is knows that we can't get rid of Rafa. We simply can't. Who will replace him? Then we have to deal with more "Five Year Plans", we have no money to improve. Who would even take the job? No cash, fighting owners, immense pressure- particularly to win the League- it just isn't something any decent manager would want to come into. Never mind the fact that Rafa is the only one who offers any stability to the club.
Lucas? Goodness me- that's a new one. No, he's not great. He's not as bad as is made out either. He was boss against your lot in the first half. He was great in our (more and more distant!) victories. The problem with him is he doesn't really have anything he's great at. But he keeps it moving, makes good runs into the box, is capable of breaking play up and has a wonderfully cultured right foot.
The comment about Fletcher is fair. I thought he was a joke figure, but he's been crucial to the United midfield in the past two seasons.
Give the lad some time. I'd have him in the squad to back up Aquilani anyway. And its not like we have loads of cash to go and buy anybody else anyway. You don't get Brazil Player of the Year if you can't play.

Lucas is the new crab - side to side, doesnt offer much, huge loss alonso, and really concerns re rafa and his lines ups at home 4-5-1,dont work im afraid, last time i was at anfield the fans are starting to get concerned big time, you loose the fans you loose your job!!!

good start for you fellas, coupla good chances
PS someone told me that in the nineties when cantona came to anfield, there was a banner at the kop end saying 'f*ck off cantona, come back when you've got 18 titles" and rumour has it that some of the united fans were supposed to be wearing cantona masks today and showing a banner that says "we're back, and we've got 18"
not sure how true this is or not, but it certainly cracked me up

I still have a live bet that Rafa will be the first premier league manager to go, so a loss today and then he might walk. Can't see him getting sacked, although Ricki Herbie will be in line for the job if he does.

Brilliant! Great performance, Agger was absolutely immense Carragher was awesome too. Lucas was all action and continues to show huge improvement this season (even if a little inconsistent). Torres another great finish. Pumped, may stay up and watch Hammers take on the Gunners.

Great game this morning! Usual ding dong battle, plenty of heat between the players which was good see. Have to give some wraps to Lucas, I thought he played well, got involved and looked hungry for the best part. Worked well with Masch in the middle too. Certainly buzzing at 5am
Some good results going our way to thanks to the Hammers and Fulham. Cheers

Aquilani looked good in is small cameo. Thought Skrtel was crap, beaten repeatedly. Degen looks more like a midfielder than a defender, N'Gog looked good, Plessis was better than I thought he was. Babel was really poor in the first half and played ok in second, another missed chance to impress...
