Rafael Benitez has revealed he would be prepared to quit as Liverpool boss if star striker Fernando Torres is ever sold against his will.
Rafael Benitez would not stick around if Fernando Torres was sold against his will.
The club's well-publicised debts have led to questions about whether owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett would be tempted should a big-money offer come in for the Spain striker.
But Benitez told the Times the 25-year-old would not be sold at any cost.
"I'm confident it will never happen,'' he said. "If it did, I'd resign.''
Even I don't think the Yanks would sell Torres. More scare mongering by the media, making the most of our 'slip ups'
I'd like to see Babel get a start against Citeh. I'm happy to give him a chance. Voronin can keep his training gear on or even better look for air fares online to the Bundesliga. Early Christmas present. Ngog seems to be going alright, give him a chance to play up front with Stevie. Any other holes we need to fill? Carra and Aquilani to start?

Ngog broke his nose, but it sounds like he's alright. They won't sell Torres; Rafa said it with a smile anyway.
Yeah, Carra to start I suppose. I would like to see Aquilani, but I'm not sure if he's had enough match fitness yet. We'll see though.

2-2 with City this morning... To be honest, losing Babel and Agger in the first 20 minutes didn't help! We played okay, good to see Skrtel score!
As I read this morning... 20 points, we're halfway to the magic 40. Keep going lads, almost there!

good to see Skrtel score!
Skrtel lost Adebayor on the corner for their first goal, then was dispossessed deep in the corner and then failed to pick up Ireland for their second goal, although Kyrgiakos got easily turned by Wright-Phillips on that goal.
More dropped points more injured players.

Aww come on. Doesn't it make you happy to see him going crazy at his goal? Yeah, he lost Adebayor, but Lucas left Ireland to run as well.
Dropped points and injured players- yeah.

While it's great to see Skrtel get on the sheet, he left Adebayor too open for the first and had a hand in the second. Can't catch a break at the moment.
Was gutted that last corner fell on the head of Lucas. Pretty much anyone else in the entire team, even Rafa himself, could have slotted that one home.
Moar horse placenta for the lads all round methinks...

I know! I thought Lucas would score! Aww, come on, don't be too harsh, mate. At least he got his head on the ball. Voronin wouldn't have managed that! But yeah, should have scored.
Yeah, he should have done better for both the goals. And I'm sure he'd rather have kept a clean sheet than scored but messed up for the two goals. But yeah, how unlucky are we at the moment?!
Yes please. Poor Yossi, eh? Probably didn't expect to even get on, but he had to play an hour or so... Give Pacheco a run!

look on the bright side eh?

Somebody has to... I've almost gotten beyond the point of caring if we win or not anymore; just gotta keep positive, otherwise I'd never leave my house. Atleti in the relegation zone and out of the CL, Liverpool languishing behind Sunderland and Stoke and nearly out of the CL... Even Waitakere losing the derby! Nothing is going right for me, atm!
Anyway, we face potential CL elimination and we really need to win so we can at least be in the Europa League... I haven't given up hope, however, so allez Lyon!

Rafa is saving him for the Champion's League, obviously. Don't you know he only cares about Europe?

Nah, like over half our squad- he was injured!
Torres and Babel have been left behind with a tin of placenta each. It's gonna be tough, must win against Debrecen and hope Lyon don't play their 'B' team. Depends who they want to progress I guess...

. Beat me to it. Yeah. Lyon will want to try and win so they have less chance of getting the United's and Chelsea's of the world, seeing as they generally get knocked out in the Round of 16. However, I doubt they'll be going all out for the result. We just have to start praying, lads! Allez Lyon!

Don't laugh, mate. We've still got to get there first!!
Here's the team: Reina, Johnson, Carragher, Agger, Insua, Mascherano, Lucas, Aurelio, Kuyt, Gerrard, Ngog.
Subs: Cavalieri, Spearing, Dossena, Aquilani, Benayoun, Kyrgiakos, Skrtel.

Should be enough to win it, but how often have we said that......
I hear Jovetic and Mutu are out for Fiorentina? If so, then that's good news. Allez Lyon!

Nice little distraction from Babel this morning...
"I have tried to talk to the manager but it isn't of any use. I couldn't really do anything with the feedback Benitez gave me," Babel explained.
"We have agreed to look at my situation in the winter. If there's no improvement then, I have to be honest, I want to be somewhere else.
"I don't play a lot so I can't be happy and I can't cheer out loud. Sometimes I wonder how long I can sustain it but I will fight for my position - what else can I do?''
Team's looking good this morning! I just hope injuries don't play a part. Pumped.
