In my opinion, anyway.

Hicks and Gillett make Ashley look like an amateur.  The way they're going, the Reds will be starting the '14 season in the Championship as "McDonalds Liverpool".

I don't even want to speculate on what Anfield will end up being called.

Oh I don't know.  The 'pyul are still in the EPL aren't they?

Haven't really followed the Hicks and Gillett angst but would find it hard to see them top what Cashley has done to the Toon@some-open-space-in-Tyneside

They're not as openly disrespectful to the fans.  But they did borrow about 180 million pounds to buy the club, then transferred the debt to Liverpool.  Quick thought experiment for your Reds fans:

Flash back to the start of 2007.  You're appointed Director of Football at LFC.  The club is borrowing 90 million pounds to buy new players over the next three seasons, and your main duty is to see that money spent wisely.  Who's on your shortlist to sign?

And they openly lie. Meh, I don't know. I'm pretty happy with the majority of our "big money" spendings, except Keane obviously, so I don't know what I'd do much differently. Mind you, I'd love to sign Kun.

Sorry, didn't make the thought experiment clear enough.  Rafa has his budget and will make his signings on schedule.  Your 90 million (half the acquisition debt) is additional.

It's Derby Day!! Torres still out but N'Gog has been good though, still have Gerrard. Don't think I will sleep much tonight.... might watch 3 games in a row. Lucky I work nights.

Outplayed but came away with two lucky goals. They couldn't shoot and when they did Reina was at his best. Need to play better than this, especially Gerrard looked half interested and his passing was always a good 5 yards off target.

But a Derby win a goal for Dirk, 3 points and into 5th place.. Also, thought we could've had a penalty when Lucas was cut down without the ball by Distin and then decided he'd play some basketball, but no one really appealed.

Well my alarm didn't go off so I missed that game, but 2-0 sounds like a good win. Maybe the spark to get Liverpools season back on track ?
Permalink Permalink

I'll take that. It's 3 point football which is the most important football right now...

Im quite weary of liverpool now this could shock them back into life now and when torres comes back they could charge to top 4 but i think it may be a bit late.

Apparently, according to the match commentators, Liverpool are after Van Nistelrooy in January. Thoughts ?

Old & expensive.  The current story is that Rafa will have to sell to buy in January, but that an understanding Real Madrid would loan Ruud until the end of the season.

Lets go f**king mental, lets go f**king mental, la la la la, la la la la. Don't want to hear any negativity. It wasn't pretty, but Reina, Masch and Dirk were superb. Derby Day's aren't ever pretty, and form goes out the window. Pleased with the clean sheet and goals. Ngog was great. Yay for Liverpool!

Top four? Christ, I hope you haven't written us out of that yet?! Of course we can get in there. The title may be a little far, but we just need to keep winning and confidence can build from there.

Horsehead? Meh. Don't like the lad (at all) and I think Ngog has done well enough. Would be nice to have a very experienced cover. Can't see it happening though.

Ah, I'm happy.

This. Any Liverpool fan celebrating beating the 15th placed side on 2 lucky goals, when we in my slightly biased opinion had the better and more frequent chances should take a look in the mirror and see how much their expectations have changed.

I see your point, personally I'm not a Liverpool fan. I just enjoy following the league as a whole.

But of course. You played a bit better in terms of how we normally play better. Most of the ball, better chances and you come away with the loss. But, given our form too, any win is good. A win and a clean sheet is a bonus. And of course, the old cliche about form going out the window in a derby. You'd be mad not to be celebrating...

Plus, we watch United beat the bottom teams and celebrate getting a lucky goal. Mind you, that gets lauded as "grinding out a result", rather than "lucky", which is what we get. Winning builds confidence...

They tried this sh*t last summer. And Torres came out and said no, he's happy at Liverpool, probably couldn't play for another English or Spanish club. I don't think we'd sell him.

Ahh, how fitting. Walk past the calendar this morning and see Javier Mascherano. Filled with happiness, I smile to myself. Then realising its December I turn the page and see....... the one and only Robbie Keane.

I love beating the bitters, if only cos of how much they hate us.

50 million pounds is such a large amount, and I think Liverpool will take it.

If you are old and wise you were probably young and stupid

Ouch. It's killer, eh. I may just change it back to Javier until the end of the month... It especially sucks as you have to walk past it as you leave my room and Keane is just running along there. When my dad saw it, he just fully punched it.

They offered 50 mil before as well. Seriously, I don't think we'll sell him. And Torres isn't going to leave because we're playing in the Europa League. He isn't that kind of guy. I  Torres.

If ageing strikers are your thing, Liverpool are also linked to Diego Forlan, here: https://www.givemefootball.com/premier-league/benitez-set-to-move-for-another-madrid-striker.

Geriatric he may be, but there is no denying that Patrick Vieira is the greatest midfielder to have played in the Premeirship to date.

Three for me, and two for them.

Did you ever watch Biscan play, mate? He'd give Viera a run for his money, no doubt. Was just never given enough time. Meh, I'd take Viera, and even Forlan, as back-up. They'd be f**king class to have in the squad. Maybe Viera could show Lucas a few things...

Word is that Torres could play a part this weekend against Nelson's men. Frankly, if ain't 110% leave him on the bench. Ngoggy can handle Nelson, let's not ruin the lad again.

. Buffy, nice. And TheKop, my internet is going all weird so can't watch the link...

Yeah. Would be good to see him come off the bench at least, for 15 minutes or so. But if he's not ready, then yeah, leave him out of it. Hopefully Stevie will be better, and Ngog has been very impressive in the last few weeks. Going into extra time against Chelsea will hopefully tire a few of them out. Would like to see Aquilani for more than 90 seconds!!!

Torres recently commented on the odds of him leaving Liverpool:

"This is my home and it helps that I have learned the language. Have I picked up any Scouse? Deffo! I am picking up words all the time."

Most quotes at goal.com: https://goal.com/en/news/9/england/2009/12/02/1661522/liverpool-striker-fernando-torres-i-feel-like-a-scouser
