As a player ,he is absolutely outstanding. As a man .....

As for the club donating his fine to the Hillsborough memorial , what a joke. How fudgeing dare they try to conceal what he did by using Hillsborough in that way , especially as the 24th anniversary has just gone. Ayre , you're a knob of the the  highest order.

I don't mind it, myself. He's mental. Absolutely mental. But I don't think he's a bad man. Besides, he's about a thousand times better than the rest of the sharke we play every week. At least he wants to win. Even though we have nothing to play for, I always look forward to watching Luis Suarez play football (although obviously won't be able to for the rest of the season). If we sell him, which I hope we don't, then I'll wish him all the best. Wherever he goes.

Can't disagree with that last sentence though, lad. Ayre is a cod.

Nice one, hope you had a good trip!
Seems to me we're doggedly backing him so we can keep him? Unfortunately now it seems he doesn't wanna stay. What a mess! Self-inflicted but jeez. Result this morning was a nice statement from the players at least.

Luis who?! 6-0! We have the same amount of points as last year and have scored way more goals. A part from the slow start to the season trying to get used to the new manager we have played some pretty amazing footy this year. Good things ahead.......hopefully. Anyone here read the Liverpool Rumours website? With the Macca tab? He is supposeldy in the know and has been right about plenty of rumours. Well he says Suarez will stay and the news that Man City are interested in Rodgers is true.....Very interesting times

Really? ^^^ Have to say I'm a fan. I would be sad to see him go.

Fair play then.

I just really don't like him. Think he talks too much sharke and doesn't deliver. Still, we won't go anywhere with FSG in charge, so probably not much point in sacking him and replacing him with Mark Hughes or something.

He does talk a bit of shark but yeah I think he's the right man for us. Would much rather have him for an extended period than just have a revolving door of managers based on short term results like city or chelsea. I think/hope he has a longer term plan to get us competitive for the league again.

Permalink Permalink

Yeah, and we wouldn't even get the success that Chelsea/ City enjoy. I just don't see that he has any pedigree anywhere. We can do better, but FSG are scared to hire someone who isn't a yes man. I hope I'm wrong, of course.

Look at what he did was Swansea, that was what landed him the gig. Took a team in the championship and turned them into a top 10 side in the Premier League in just two years.

He never took Swansea into the top 10. They  are 9th now but that it more Laudrup's doing.

They had Rafa, a European Cup winner, waiting in the wings. They had AVB, Cappello etc etc. Genuine winners (AVB, for all his inexperience, has won a Europa League title, and Portuguese titles). But also people who would pull them (FSG) up on their tight way of running the football club.

With respect, we aren't Swansea. Football is about trophies. This guy has won a play-off game. That's it. He has zero European experience, works off a tight budget, and won't complain if the owners don't back him.

The way I see it, it's a massive risk. It may yet work out, but nothing I've seen this year suggests it will. We need a serious challenge on the top four next year, otherwise questions need to be asked.

And contrary to popular belief, this year is not progress.

One of the rare occasions where I have to agree with Leggy.

He took over a side built by Martinez, oversaw their promotion to the Premier League, and then lead them to an 11th placed finished.

And Laudrup has made them even better, especially with his quality signings.

Three for me, and two for them.

In other news.....What do you guys think of the new strip? I quite like it....well I have only seen the home strip. If the rumours about the third strip are true then...sweet georgia

I've got the 12/13 home top but the new one is certainly nicer. What's the story with the other 2? Thought I saw a complete black one a couple of weeks ago but can't find it now.

I thought the new kit looks good from a distance but i'm not a fan of the liverpoolfc interwoven in the darker red.  Hopefully it looks different in the flesh.

Permalink Permalink
almost 13 years ago · edited about 5 years ago · History

Didn't actually notice, will have a closer look. Sums up the season a bit though eh. 2 games left and we're discussing the kits haha.

Permalink Permalink

Haha, true. Been a depressing season. Not arsed about the home kit, but what the fudge is going on for the aways and third kit? Dreadful.

Is that nasty looking purple strip confirmed as official?

Permalink Permalink
almost 13 years ago · edited about 5 years ago · History

Not official yet, I don't think.

Imagine if we didn't have a fraud as our manager at the moment and had Rafa. No Mr Ferguson at United. Would be boss that.

We should send Rodgers to Everton and then get Rafa in- problem solved.

Can't wait to see sturridge in the flesh in melbourne.  Great to see him get a hattrick this morning and couthino with his amazing passing.  Almost fell off the treadmill at the gym in awe at the class of some of those passes.

Coutinho is so boss.

I like Rodgers when he came in to the job at Anfield we had a pretty sad squad.  He has brought pretty well Allen, Assaidi, and Borini in the summer. Borini unlucky with injuries as well as Allen who also play out of position for the first part of the season.  His January signing were great Sturridge and Coutinho.  Both have been great additions. He has been willing to play youth Sterling, Wisdom, Suso all of which have big futures with the club. With a few more decent players in, in the off season.  We could be back in the top 4 by this time next year.

As much as i like Rafa he has had his time at Anfield.

Bought well in Assaidi?  You have got to be kidding me.  He's made four league appearances!  Borini has been unfortunate I agree but I'm yet to be fully convinced by him.

Sturridge & Coutinho far better impact than Allen, Borini & Assaidi.

Thanks for everything Jamie Carragher. You have been an absolute rock for the past 16 years and will be missed. Gutted that shot hit the post, Anfield would've erupted! 737 matches = Liverpool legend.
