Can't believe I'm not watching this! Live updates on the phone are gonna have to do today but not happy missing out!
We're certainly short of cover in some departments due to injuries.

Boom!! How good was that, could have (should have) been a lot more too. Nice to get some space between us and 5th. Hoping Man City do the damage tomorrow

Arsenal aren't...

You can ascertain what your opponent is afraid of by observing the means by which he attempts to frighten you

BR says we are working on 1 major transfer.....do we believe?!

Also, watched highlights of the game last night. That second goal from Sturridge was ridiculous.

24yo Ukrainian forward Yevhen Konoplyanka is the target.
Yeah amazing finish and hilariously casual celebration.

Sounds like our potential Ukrainian recruit is quite versatile and can play on either wing or as an attacking mid. According to my in depth wiki-research anyway :)

An Arsenal forum I frequent has a couple of posts of people rather upset that Konoplyanka could be going to LFC, which I guess says a little of his ability. But that's about as in-depth as your assesment! ;)

I did read on the forums last night that PSG were also circling this fulla. Bad news for us if so.

Well that was a disaster of a deadline day. Worst. Football Christmas. Ever.

Ha yeah disappointing stuff! Sounds like we got torpedoed at the last minute by the club Pres after the buy-out clause was met. Merrrrrrrr.

Konopylanka was on Jazz Jr's wish list .Not sure we desperately need another attacking mid but as Jr said to me this morning , " Dad , if we get him , Coutinho can drop in  as play as a real no 10 and Suarez and Sturridge can roam and do their thing". Oh , Jr is 12.I think we needed more cover in the back and defensive mid areas but then what do I know?

but we didn't get him so moot points. Fudge , this is getting so tiresome. What sort of fudgeing bunch of numpties put all their transfer eggs in one basket with no plan B , and go after him with 10 minutes left in the window? FSG and that prize knob Ayres , thats' who.Deja vu all over again.

As a statement of intent , reinforcements now would have sent a message that the owners are serious about CL football next year. If rumours are to be believed , we had 15 fit senior players for the FA cup tie. How many of the players that came in at the start of the season are genuine first team players of Mignolet , Sakho , Aspas , Alberto , Sisoko ,Liadro (sp?) One's already gone on loan , three are crap so just Mignloet and Sakho are worthy first teasers.

FSG and AYres , sort your shark out. Get your transfer committee talking to BR. Stop playing with your money balls and start realizing that you may own the club but you don't deserve it.You don't deserve us as fans either.

Frustrating indeed but in times like these I look back and think about how close we were to going under and think maybe we are doing the right thing re club valuations of players.  We clearly thought salah was only worth X and didn't splash the extra mill like Chelsea did.  But hey they can afford it.  They just sold Mata and are in the champions league.  We need to be realistic as supporters.  I shudder every time I look back at the money that has pissed away on players in recent times because the club felt the need to over pay.

Oh I agree with that, especially about Salah. But this is our best chance of top 4 or better for a while now. Our first X1 can hold its own with any other  , and i really mean any other , in the PL. But our squad depth is thinner than the other contenders and that's where we may be in trouble. I'm all for prudent financial management ( otherwise we'd spend another 35M on a sick note with a ponytail ) but there also needs to be a realization that we have a relatively underpowered squad ( as opposed to first X1).

Anyhoo , WEst Brom next up. YNWA!!

Good work by Hull overnight. A win this weekend and a bit of breathing space is created.

Pretty flat performance overall.  Sterling continues to amaze me.  So pleased that he's stepped up and been able to get first team football with us rather than go out on loan.  He pace gets him out of many a tight situation.  Toure damn son!  I guess in a perfect season he wouldn't be getting much game time with the injury issues we have had to agger and sakho.  Arsenal at home this weekend!  Come on lads!

If I was a bigger and more mature man , I would avoid the temptation to do the following;

" To that obnoxious chappie "the Arsenal"  , where's your photo now , son? Chortle , chortle"

Just as well I'm not.

Jr and I are still buzzing. Holy shark. When I've had some sleep , I'll reflect a bit and wonder if that happened because we were brilliant or the Arse were pants. A mixture of both I suspect. ANd there sorts of results won't happen every day  . But for now , get that up yah you LOndon Twits!!

Superb performance.  What a opening 20 min that was!  The strike from Suarez that hit the post was outrageous.  The pressing they put in is superb!

To the wonderful scouse gentleman at 4:50min and 42:16min thankyou for making me laugh at the wee small hours of the morning!

I'm sure we would have taken 7 points from the last 3 games. Wouldn't have expected to drop points vs West Brom though.

Still buzzing after that result though....no goals from Suarez!!

And the crazy thing being that scoreline was flattering to the arse. What a result.

How amazing was the effort from Suarez that hit the post thou???  If that went in contender for goal of the season.  To turn and hit the ball that hard was just mindblowing.

His snap freekick late in the 2nd half was close to brilliant too. Took a fine save to keep out.

Just looked at our stats for the same time last year!! 14 points difference 19 more goals scored and two less conceeded.

Although it is not always easy to compare, it does seem like good signs.
