Liverpool Thread - Premier League Champions* 2019/20 (Part 2)
Hmmm another poor result. Desperate to get Mane back!
The good news is Coutinho has signed a massive new contract. I'm optimistic that it isn't just as a bargaining chip when the Barcelonas etc. come calling but I guess we'll see.
So after criticising United's apparent "long" ball approach Klopp has seemingly taken to the long ball game in his previous two outings.
Funnily enough it was Shane Long who put the nail in the coffin today.
To me, all the "criticism" of the long ball from coaches/fans/pundits (of any team) is either just said to get under the opposition skin, just jumping on the criticism bandwagon etc. Players & Coaches do what is "best" dependant on circumstances.
The "Long Ball" has a place in the game - it requires skill in execution, timing, accuracy etc. Whose to say Fellaini wont do something like this from a "Long Ball" ;-) ....#deluded

Because that would require Fellaini to have two decent touches of the football in a row
Shock result, shame those pricks couldn't win at their place in 1976 in that last game of the season.
The Ruf, The Ruf, The Ruf is on Fire!!
Things need to be sorted real quick. All teams will have a drop off in positive results but you guys are dropping in the actual football playing bit.
Big game midweek....
E's Flat Ah's Flat Too
The Nightmare of January continues......
We looked so inept in and around the box, no creativiity, just shifting from left to right, then all the way back, static off the ball, and nobody with confidence to try take their man on. It llike we are waiting for everything just to fall into place.
I think this is good for Liverpool to be honest. The early season promised showed everyone what could be achieved. Losing will teach the players to avoid complacencey and that when you are winning, you do not take the foot off the pedal. I hope the lesson will be learned as I would like to see the club win again. I watched a program on Bein the other day about the reds from the Shankley era through till their last European Cup win. It was brilliant with interviews with all the key players.

"...sure beats doin' stuff."
Dont swet it, Liverpool will come right for sure. The early season was not a fluke, it just showed the ootential. A minor adjustment here and there and it will click. Keep the faith. One thing I have noticed, there are very few plastic Liverpool fans around unlike 4 other teams I could mention.

I have to say, I got caught up in the hype and it was hard not to, but I've now come crashing down back to earth.
I have no doubts that Klopp is the right man to get us back to glory. My concerns are the lack of an apparent plan B and the over reliance on the players in our best starting 11. When Coutinho or Mane are out, its almost like dread, the same goes with our depth at centre back, I feel that Klopp needed to address this in the January transfer window and didn't, however to his credit he does have good points as to why he didn't spend, and now that we dont have issues with fixture congestion, we might start picking up some points again.

You realise we were a win away from winning the premier league in Rodger's second season?? and he was also manager of the season... Wasnt til his 3rd season (well after 54 PL matches) that he started to be doubted.
Was it about the same time the Liverpool transfer committee sold Suarez and gave him Andy Carrol?
I hate comparison statistics like this, they're meaningless.
Suarez proved to be a genius move and Carroll made the club look like a laughing stock. He has never replicated his form or ability that he had up in Newcastle. Selling Torres had a similar effect. He was good at Liverpool and embarrassing at Chelski.

I thought Carroll was a decent gamble. Everyone mocked Liverpool over the price but in reality it was a simple swap to me: Torres out, Suarez and Carroll in.
As it turns out Liverpool got 3 fantastic seasons out of Suarez before selling him for more than the total spent on Carroll and Suarez.
Carroll was a flop, but an affordable one, thanks to Suarez' quality, and the excellent fees on the Torres and Suarez sales.

Yea it's easy to look back in hindsight. I thought Carroll was an ok gamble.

Obviously you haven't been watching him this season. There's talk in may get back in the England squad.
