Yep, I think he would be perfect for us. Hope we are in the market at the right time now that he is free!
Liverpool Thread - Premier League Champions* 2019/20 (Part 2)
Ancelotti seems likely to have a year off, he commented earlier this week that at some point he needs to have back surgery. Benitez is rumoured to be replacing him at Real Madrid, so that leaves Klopp from that shortlist. Would we be happy with Klopp?

Yeah I think I would be. Definitely need a change And there's limited top possibilities. Rafa is certainly fav for Real but far from set in stone yet. Aside from a statistics defying season from Suarez & Sturridge, we seem to have spent a lot of cash and gone nowhere, and will have to spend up much more to get anywhere. I'm worried.

From what I've been reading this morning, BR and the committee seems set to stay. If this is the case, next season could be a looooong one, and to be fair, if we don't move quickly, our managerial options will get eaten up and we'll HAVE to stick with BR. Klopp apparently turned down Napoli overnight - I wonder what/who he's waiting for?
"...sure beats doin' stuff."
Where are you reading that Leigh?
Seeing in in the Liverpool Echo who basically write what the club tells them and Rodgers was also removed from a lot of betting websites as remaining in charge for next season as the odds had shortened significantly.
"...sure beats doin' stuff."
OK, i've just read some articles. Seems like they are giving him a chance to justify himself prior to making a decision huh. Similar to King Kenny. All is not lost yet!
How is this similar to King Kenny? I thought he 'justified himself' with a League Cup win and an FA Cup final but that clearly wasn't enough.

Kenny simply didn't fit the mould of what FSG were after. They want to create a legacy manager, one that is there for a long period and a period of success...unfortunately, young managers very rarely offer any significant success (there are exceptions, sure).

Sorry, I meant in terms of process....they gave him the sack in Boston at the review rather than booting him as soon as the season finished.
In other news......O dear
Meanwhile, 20-year-old Reds forward Divock Origi, on loan at Lille, has had the dubious honour of being named in Ligue 1's worst team of the season by French daily sports newspaper L'Equipe.
If a new manager comes in, Origi may find himself back on loan again. We need to move fast as a club one way or another so that we have a team together, transfers at least considered and started whatever happens.
There are a LOT of players likely to leave so there is a hell of a job to back fill the team
"...sure beats doin' stuff."
Who is going and should/may go:
- Gerrard
- Brad Jones
- Jose Enrique
- Manquillo
- Johnson
- Lovren (but he won't)
- Leiva (but he shouldn't)
- Sterling
- Allen
- Lambert
- Borini
- Balotelli
With that in mind, we need to do a LOT of business.
Defence: Sebastian Coates could be worth bringing back, he played well from Sunderland later in the season and could team up with Sakho and Skrtel for a decent defence. Chuck Wisdom into the mix, a returning Flannagan and Moreno and we may be ok. Lovren will warm the bench.
Mids: If Lucas leaves, Can should be the man to take his role. Plays well centrally, good tackler and has better vision than Lucas. His poor form late in the season comes down to being played out of position, pure and simple. With Coutinho and Lallana sharing the CAM duties, we could do with a midfielder to play alongside Henderson as well as a back up DM. At least 2 signings of quality needed here. Possibly a good slot in for Milner who does tend to play wider which you could afford with Can at DM>

You should look at an up and coming Scottish manager. It's generally taken our game to the next level.
;-)
(Except for Bryan Gunn... i'll never forgive him for Theoklitos)
Moyes?
Hahaha imagine that?! Former Everton & Utd boss?! Can't imagine the fans supporting that one.
Transfer rumour time!!!!!
Apparently close to signing Danny Ings from Burnley for £8m.
Benteke has a release clause of £32.5m from Villa. We readying a bid.......
Also looking at Nicolas Gaitan from Benfica for £21m. Argentinian midfielder.

Also.. LFC likely to increase their refused bid of £10m+ for Clynne from their usual feeder club.
- .Apparantly LFC have had €18m bid refused for Mateo Kovacic from Inter Milan... Negotiations continue
I like Milner but not sure I like him enough for rumoured £140k p/w and £7m signing on fee
Wow, expected the wages but not that fee. He will offer some guts to the midfield though. I'd be pretty happy with a middle 4 of (Can/Lucas), Milner, Henderson, Coutinho.

Rodgers is staying, according to Liverpool Echo.

Then we have to get behind him and the team like any good fan should.

Will be interesting to see if BR can squeeze him, Hendo & Can into the middle of the park.
4-3-3 could work with Can LM, Milner CM, Hendo RM. All three work hard and none of which is Joe Allen. Front 3 is a bit trickier depending on who goes (Sterling), who's fit (Sturridge) and who comes in (Benteke).
