Leighbo, Fitzy, anyone else from here that attended? How was it????????

Fitzy you went to the MCG 2 years ago, how was the comparison at a ground much better served for football? Was pretty amazing at the G!

It was a great night! In terms of atmosphere, great but not quite as memorable as the MCG, I think 100,000 people singing You'll Never Walk Alone is going to be hard to beat to be honest.

No complaints though, Suncorp is a great stadium (I think the one general complaint is that it can't handle heavy rain but that wasn't a problem last night).. Seems to be a great view from anywhere in the stadium and any rectangular stadium always feels closer once you've gotten used to the ring of fire.

Football-wise, intensity was about what you'd expect for preseason. Good to see some of the new recruits in the flesh. Was impressed with Milner, and thought Ibe was good once he came on in the second half. Thought we were a bit lacking up front but hopefully that will change with Coutinho, Firmino, Sturridge and Benteke about to sign by the sounds of it.

All in all a bloody good night! Would be keen to hear what others thought.

I'm just about to head off to the Man City v Melbourne game. If Sterling makes an appearance I'll be sure to have a quiet word!

According  to the newspapers today, Sterling is not playing.

Back at work after a long Liverpool weekend

It was a great night, my first time seeing Liverpool live, seeing the kit launch at King George Square was also pretty impressive.

Suncorp was a great stadium, being close the field is a bonus (in saying that I also enjoyed the phoenix games at the hutt rec).

Milner was very good and he and Henderson seem to work well together already, Ibe is going to be a monster of a player, although to me Origi wasn't so good, his movement was very limited.

Even saw some players from some rival capital 12/11 teams over there.

It was a hell of a trip and the 12pm to 1am drinking session added to a brilliant game day.

Offered the chance to attend the kit launch in the VIP area through LFC Wellington but decided to head to the GC with a mate I was staying with down there to get some rest before the next day. The game itself was such an experience - echoed as above - Suncorp is brilliant to watch football in, YNWA was an emotional experience to say the least and thought Milner, Ibe, Rossiter and Clyne were brilliant of the players I haven't seen a lot of in the red shirt. Bring LFC to Welly!!!

Yeah and I like what I've seen of Gomez so far as well...any fingers crossed but BR seems to be keeping his gob shut which is refreshing.

Benteke should be announced tomorrow. Seems it's all done including medical but they want to do a join press conference with Firmino and Benteke.

Benteke official, you beauty. Will that be it for us this summer? Reus would have been superb but apparently that is looking unlikely now.

I don't think Reus was ever happening, it seems to be an ongoing joke.

Last signing may be Digne from PSG as left back cover.

The biggest interest now is who gets cleared out...

  • Lambert to WBA
  • Balo back to Italy
  • Borini to...?
  • Enrique gone surely

ALSO: If you're playing Prem Fantasy League, here is a code for LFC Welly 55181-149008

So what is your Liverpool starting XI?

Can is the understudy to CM and CDM

Lallana to rotate with Firmino/Coutinho

Ings and Origi fight for the backup Striker spot

Mingolet

Clyne    Sakho   Skrtel    Moreno

Lucas

Hendo             Milner

 Firmino                        Coutinho

  Benteke

Great starting line up. Not sure BR rates Lucas though. Anyone else see the rumours that Sakho was asking for assurances of game time and Liverpool werent giving it?

Not sure why they wouldn't. He should be part of the leadership team within the squad as most teams do and he should be a starter. He has a great pass rate (despite telegraphing some passes) and commands a line. We need him more than we need Skirts.

as per the email instructions;

Please:

  • Make sure you register your interest in going to see Carra (even if you can’t be definite), and write your name with “(Wellington)” at the end – more details about this are on the LFC website.
  • Spread the word as much as you can. LFC Wellington has made Facebook (here) and Twitter (here) posts. Make sure you share and retweet these, and get in touch with all your mates.

Heaps of people registering their interest and putting Wellington down will be crucial to #bringcarratowelly!

Spoke to organiser this morning, numbers are underwhelming. Hoping more people jump on the bandwagon these next few days!

Need to make this work if we want others to come in the future

I will do what I can, it was the Supporters club that gave me the early-bird link to get tickets for the Brisbane.

It would be great for some legends to make it this way.

Its just a shame I cant make it watch the games with the other supporters in town (long trek back home)

So how are we feeling about this season lads?

I think Spurs have wasted the Bale money and aren't a top 4 threat anymore and it's a straight shootout between Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, City and United.

Arsenal & Chelsea seem the most settled teams so putting them as 1 and 2, us in 3rd and City 4th. United have made some big changes that may struggle to bed in - arguably we could be the same but our good pre-season build-up with Coutinho, Can, Benteke and Firmino still to play a senior game bodes well.

1. Arsenal

2. Chelsea

3. Us

4. City

5. United

6. So'ton

7. Spurs

...of course, I actually expect us to win the title by Xmas but have noted the above to avoid trolls from other fan bases getting stuck in ;)

You're a loyal fan Leighbo! I like our signings plus hope to see more from Lallana and some of last year signings.......the other side of things is that BR could be gone by Chrissy if we lose a few.

Is that underestimating United a bit? I, like anyone who recognises what is good and pure in the world, have full faith that they will lose all of their first ten games, be in the relegation zone by Christmas, and scrap their way to a respectable 15th by seasons end. But I worry that a side that qualified for the champions league last year and has spent a sharkload since then might do slightly better than that. That said, we've all seen that a top four finish followed by spending sharkloads in the summer doesn't necessarily do much does it!

I get the feeling that things are a bit unsettled at OT that all. United can thank DDG for their CL spot and if he stays, I think they will bump us down to 4th and finish 3rd, however, the fact that he will go and a pretty shaky defence means that they may score a shedload...but they'll concede quite a few as well.

Digne to Liverpool is hotting up. If we make that signing then I reckon that'll be it. We've got options, flexibility and depth...the next question is do we have enough quality?

I've left out a few player sin the squad who I reckon will go on loan or be sold (Enrique, Borini, Lambert, Illori, Ojo, Teixeira, Sinclair, Balo)

GK: Mingolet, Bogdan

DF: Clyne, Toure, Gomez, Sakho, Moreno, Sktel, Flanagan, Wisdom (hearing a loan to Norwich is done)

MID: Milner, Coutinho, Hendo, Lallana, Leiva, Can, Ibe, Rossiter, Markovic (rumours of a loan to Stoke), Allen (hahahaha!)

FW: Benteke, Studge, Firmino, Origi, Ings

"...sure beats doin' stuff."
