Where did you see that Kop?  That's a shame if it's true.

Maybe NESV are all about long term etc so they will just try and survive this year and start the planning from there?

I wonder what Gus Huddink is up to?.......as I say that name I'm not sure I am right. The guy who coached Aussie?

http://twitter.com/#!/ChristianMcr Guy that has some sort link with Malaga. He even admits Pellegrini would be better for Pool. Guess we won't know for sure until tomorrow.

Hiddink is coaching Turkey, only just started I blieve so I can't see us luring him away.

Johan Cruyff
Queiroz
Klinsmann
Mancini (if Citeh don't make top 4 his ass will be on the block)

(I'm just throwing names out there)

Did i read an article last week that Maradona would like to manage in the premiership?

David Comolli appointed as Director of Football strategy. Fancy name for head scout I think. Worked for Arsenal, Spurs and St Etienne. Sounds like he has some connection with Billy Beane and this whole strategy of using stats to scope out players. That would fit into NESV way of thinking.

I read some rumours about him and some people thought he was quite disruptive? Still it'sall part of the new regime so I'm for it.

What about tomorrow vs Napoli? Try the young guys again? Pacheco, Jonjo, Kelly and SPearing? Save the big boys for Chelski?

Roy reckons he's fielding a strong line up but I hope he uses a good youthful team with some experience on the bench.

We need the big guns for Chelski.

I was wondering if Deschamps was doing anything useful for Marseille and then I see they won 7-0 this morning. Potential LFC target.

Doubt the Greek will play, he's carrying a niggle isn't he?

Is Johnson fit too?

i think if soto is fit he will play. if he isnt skrtel will. i think i would prefer skrtel to start this. napoli wont be playing a whole lot of long balls and that is a ridici slow cb pairing.

it just word on the street ya dig...

Was just thinking about the football director position (Comoli). Supposedly his role is to identify targets? Surely this means that he chooses the type of players that he wants/ likes/ thinks will be of benefit to Liverpool? If this is correct, whilst there will be liaison with Roy etc, it will essentially be Comoli who is choosing how we play?

Ive got two thoughts about that. It kind of puts Roy in a lose lose situation because he won't be in charge ofpicking the team  but he will the one responsible for any bad results we have yes?

My second thought is that this is the startof end for Roy. Take away responsibility for the big decisions and become a coach as opposed to a Manager. Fine by me with Roy but how does it work when the new manager comes in? Interested to hear your thoughts

Have a read of this one: http://www.just-football.com/2010/10/can-a-director-of-football-ever-work-in-the-british-game/

It explains the role of the DOF. It'll be up to him and his team to now define how the club will play and work towards the future. It'll be Comolli who must decide what he wants in his manager and whether or not Roy fits that mold. I very much doubt it but these will be decisions that he'll have to make over the next couple of months.

^The problem with that analysis is that it's purely based on numbers. The stats however don't tell you that Hodgson is actually a muppet who hasn't shown any strategy in taking our game forward nor has he shown that he actually can do that. At least Houllier and Rafa had some plans.

re DoF, two words: Dennis. Wise.

I rest my case.

re Comolli - see Dennis Wise. Enjoy the Fizzy Pop league, Toon did and it has helped them get some backbone.

Youse fullas picked it:

Reina, Johnson, Carragher, Kyrgiakos, Konchesky, Shelvey, Spearing, Poulsen, Jovanovic, Meireles, Ngog

Not sure why we'd use Meireles on the wings when we have Senor Pacheco. Roy, swap Poulsen for Suso. Suso will go forward no matter where you play him...

subs: Eccleston, Gerrard, Hansen, Kelly, Lucas, Skrtel, Wilson.

Few reports coming out that the Napoli fans are causing trouble again outside the stadium. Shouldn't have let them in the city after they stabbed our supporters...

It's a joke this sh*t is still going on. I think i read somewhere 12,000 or so Napoli fans are there (crazy number, so probably off)
over 15 years ago · edited over 13 years ago
Nah, think your right. More supporters turned up and only a few have got tickets. People tweeting from inside the stadium that some Napoli supporters have got into the main stand and the cops are tracking them down.

Roy's never heard of the kid. Even though he said he was going to give him opportunities.

I went into a meeting at 0-1. Came out at 3-1. Maybe I should not watch more often.

We're going to win the league!!

But Gerrard's introduction breathed new life into the Reds and he beat keeper Morgan De Sanctis to an Andrea Dossena backpass to net an equaliser.

Good return to Anfield for a crowd favourite?

3 wins in a row...I'm starting to get dizzy

"The likes of Chelsea, Manchester United, Arsenal, Everton and Spurs - these are the top teams in the country. Liverpool should be up there challenging with these teams and it's up to us to get good results in these games."
