Time for Roy and Ged to sit down in front of the fire, bottle of red and chat about past glories.

Well done Reds!

Oh! That'd be Pepe's 100th clean sheet!

Fulltime. 3-0. Easy easy. Enjoyed that  Pretty much everyone played well! Johnson started flying forward near the end of that, fancied him to get a 4th!

Just watched the highlights against Villa.....Ryan Babel bugs me soooooo much. I feel like he has the potential to be amazing, but for some reason, for us he isn't. I also feel like if we let him go, he will become amazing! Like if he was at the Arse, he would be carving it up.

Ha my thoughts exactly. I've been saying this about babel for ages. Like that bit of showboating he did at the end of the villa game, that was class. I still think he's kinda lazy and gives the ball away too easily sometimes.......but superb finish none the less!

So how about rafa and inter guys? He's screwed that up big time! I would love to see inter draw Milan in the champ league! So if he stayed do you think we would be doing any better than what we are now? Debate on!
over 15 years ago · edited over 13 years ago
I think we'd be doing better if he'd stayed, for sure. Impossible to say though. Although so many people wanted him out, I guess it had to happen. But if/when he gets sacked at Inter, I kinda don't want us to get him again; at least not right away. Too soon for many of the players etc. But he's welcome to come back any time, really! Plus, his injury list is insane at Inter.

Yeah, Babel has real potential, but just not here. I still hope we get rid, for both our and his sake. Like you say, if he was somewhere else he'd be doing better, I think. Although agree entirely, he's generally too lazy and gives it away too much.

Lucas is sex, fk the haters. You know, you can almost always tell a 'Pool fan who doesn't watch the games when they still knock Lucas. What a revelation this guy has been- improved massively over the last 18 months. Future captain of Brazil. Plays much better without Gerrard and Carra in there (espesh Carra who just NEVER plays him), and next to Raul... Orgasmic.

If he just signs a new contract, he's on the back of my next shirt.

Not sure I can do another Rafa debate.. honestly don't how it would have been this season. So many factors: H&G plus a few players were against him, then new owners. Who would have been bought/sold over the summer. Too many variables.

Babel needs to go, just not to another PL side because I'm certain he'll clean up in an environment where his ego is massaged and he has a little more license to move on the pitch. Always thought he would have been suited for Birmingham when they cam after him.

As for Lucas, I wasn't a hater (just a disliker) but the kid has come a long way in the last 12 months and deserves the accolades. Not sure I'll go all PrOn and smutty over him but he's class in the middle with Raul. Question now is where to put Gerrard because Raul and Lucas need to stay together.

Two things I'm happy about right now:

1. That idiot Itjadntejde has gone. Don't care where, just that he's gone.

2. We have Newcastle away this weekend which I was pretty worried about to be honest, with their home form and our away not being a very good mix. They'll be down right now, the players must be gutted to have lost Houghton and the Fans will spend the match yelling at Ashley.
This is our chance to get 3 points.

Hi folks.  Long time (relative to age) Liverpool fan, but I don't have pay tv so am usually behind on the results.

Just on the Rafa question...it's all a bit of crystal ball gazing, I guess, but I was sad to see Rafa go.  He did guide us to some good results in the recent years, and he turned around players like Carragher.

I still remember watching the 2005 UEFA Champions League Final, and giving up at half time to go to study, only to arrive and discover that we'd somehow won!

Welcome aboard Seriously Board......I'm glad that rafa has gone. No disrespect but we are looking forward now.....not with Roy either.

Kop, I hope you are right about three points this weekend, it all depends on whether or not Roy is brave and would like to attack. Is Torres likely to be back? It would be good to give Babel another start just to see if he can keep the momentum going.

I suspect Nando will be back. Babel on the bench with Ngog and Torres teaming up front.

           Reina
Johnson Skrtl Soto Aurelio
       Lucas Meireles
Kuyt                   Maxi
        Ngog Torres

or

          Reina
Johnson Kelly Skrtl Aurelio
       Lucas Meireles
Kuyt                 Maxi
             Pacheco
        Torres

Thanks, Tyler.  My club by familial ties is Colchester United, but I've been supporting Liverpool since 1989.  (It's just that my link to the reds is a much more tenuous one!)

I had the honour of going to Anfield during my O.E. in '08, but it was midweek and they wouldn't let me in.  Fair enough, I suppose, but at least I got to stand at the Shankly Gates and pay my respects to the Hillsborough 96.

Yeah, it was a shame for Babel that his head was too big to go to Brum.

Easy. Put Stevie on the right. Or even behind Torres if you wanna drop Ngog. In my mind, he really shouldn't break that Raul + Lucas partnership. But, I guess moving Gerrard would be admitting that Rafa was right and, more importantly, would Stevie be keen to play there? I would think not.

Fking great news that prick is out of our club. Yeah, fancy us to get a win this weekend, we're starting to play well now! I'd put Torres in there ahead of Babel.. The man is gonna be so keen to grab a goal or three for his Lil Leo!

Correct. Stevie will decide where Stevie wants to play. I just hope he'll put the team first. 442, on the right. 4231, in the hole behind El Senor!

Shambles, NESV have just spent another $150m on Carl Crawford for the Red Sox.

John, John! Money this way please!

Yip, exactly Kop. Unfortunately, don't see it happening... Stevie has been ruled out of the Newcastle game anyways. And apparently Agger could be back soon!

This can't be right?? We're now fairly regularly getting good news filtering through. Surely not us??

Roy Hodgson has confirmed Liverpool have opened preliminary discussions with Lucas Leiva with regards to a new contract for the midfielder.

Asked by reporters if there were any contract talks with Lucas on the horizon, Hodgson said: "I think there is, yes. A couple of weeks ago Damien (Comolli) mentioned to me about him wanting to get in touch with Lucas's agent to discuss a new contract, but I can't quite frankly remember where we are.

"Certainly if you ask me the question 'Is Lucas welcome at the club and would we like to keep him?' then the answer is a resounding 'Yes'."

For the more tactically minded, how would 433 work?

           Reina
Johnson Skrtl Soto Aurelio
   Lucas Meireles Shelvey?
Maxi/Babel   Torres    Ngog
over 15 years ago · edited over 13 years ago
Hmmm, I'd have Stevie in there ahead of Shelvey, unless you're just talking about this weekend..

It'd be hard, cos Maxi isn't really a 'forward' as such, and Ngog isn't a winger, so you couldn't even turn it into a 4-5-1.. Maybe with Babel it could work. I mean, we don't exactly play with width anyways, so we'd just need our fullbacks to come forward a lot to stretch our opponents. Just don't really think it could work so well, tbh.

Carragher is a great player, but he seems to have far from a winning personality!

He's just not a very nice person. And kinda considers himself as one of the three "star" players in the team, which he obviously isn't. He talks sh*te these days too, especially given the way he plays.

Ronaldinho, rofl, no thanks. Ashley Young, nope. Gosh.
