We'll drill the scum into the ground with all our new January signings. I ain't worried. We won the Cup the last time we played them.

We were at home. And we had Rafa. We're sh*t now.

^You ruined my dream.

Go tell that to Tom and George, who killed our heart. Go and tell that to Carra and Purslow, who killed our quality. Go tell that to Roy, who is hopelessly out of his depth.

Gah, super depressed and I have an exam coming up this afternoon. EN is gonna hit the booze so hard tonight.

Carlton Cole, Elmander, Danny Murphy and Nick Barmby....or as Roy sees it. Two quality strikers, an attacking centre midfield and a quality wide man

Elmander actually is a quality striker. Have you seen him rip up for Bolton this year?

Three for me, and two for them.

over 15 years ago · edited over 13 years ago
Well bar Torres (who has been average this season anyway) he's better than anything else you've got.

Three for me, and two for them.

Aggr is still out, I think. Danny Wilson? Nah, Kyrgiakos will play.
over 15 years ago · edited over 13 years ago
Yep true....I think we are hoping, well I am anyway, that there will be a new striker arriving in January
over 15 years ago · edited over 13 years ago
Yes, for sure. Although Ngog did well today. Feel absolutely terrible for Reina, not only does he have to watch Konchesky like the rest of us, he actually plays with him and concedes goals because of him.
over 15 years ago · edited over 13 years ago
Did Ngog go off injured or was that 'tactical'?

Ngog would have been the man for Europa this week and I'm not sure if Roy would have wanted to use Nando again. Pacheco has to come in now.

Also Soto will replace Carra, not sure DAgger is 100% yet. Aurelio over Konch please.

I'll tell ya what though, Comolli has some serious work to do come January.

Actually, wouldn't be surprised if Jova or Babel got a run ahead of Dani but he should be on the bench at the very least.
over 15 years ago · edited over 13 years ago
Really hope Dani plays. Not sure about Ngog, eh. He limped off and that, but dunno if it was cramp or something, or if it was serious.

Just watched the highlights.....cannot believe that maxi miss. Ahh well
over 15 years ago · edited over 13 years ago

Outrageous ball from Torres though.

over 15 years ago · edited over 13 years ago
Sounds like Carra is out for up to 10 weeks.

Get well soon... Agger.

Europa, Steaua in a couple of days. My pick (player-wise, have no idea how Roy will position them though)

        Reina
Kelly Soto Wilson Aurelio
Jova Shelvey Poulson Pacheco
            Cole
        Babel
over 15 years ago · edited over 13 years ago

Yeah, it'd be good to see Dani get a go, Cole get some match fitness, as with Aurelio.. Jova a run around. And Wilson! Yes, I wanna see him.. Thats looking pretty good to me, Kop. Not too fussed about this game, tbh, just be nice to see the squad players get a chance.

Villa next in the League? Welcome back Ged

Yep, pretty sure 1 point gets us through, 3 points will see us go through top.

Realistic Wishlists for January Gentlemen? Ins and Outs?

Out...Babel, Poulsen, Jova, Konchesky,  (Can they leave due to only being here 6 months?)

In....Honda? A winger?

A striker big time!!!and a nippy winger that has pace and a trick to get past their marker to get in behind teams!!!  I so envy teams that have wingers that manage to beat a man and get into the space behind the back 4!bale, lennon, young, walcott etc!  Jeez even watching dj campbell running at the bolton defence last weekend he looked good!   Feels like an age last time I saw a player do that for liverpool!!! As a defender pace and trickery is the hardest thing to defend against!  Liverpool are so slow in getting forward now teams have loads of time to get organised and get bodies back behind the ball and when your trying to hit a lone striker you have to be pretty damn good to break them down!! And we atm are not.

poulsen & konchesky wont be going anywhere.........sadly!  Perhaps the nix can apply for them on loan in jan.  Oh wait we dont need more average players at the nix!

And on a side note it will be very interesting to see how we go without carra in he team. I have a feeling that we might just preform better! Watch this space!

Babel will go up for sale but Poulsen and Konch are well and truly in the Hodge Podge camp. That won't change until Roy is out. I also wouldn't be surprised if Agger disappears in January too. Another Roy victim. Hopefully Pacheco will be given opportunities otherwise he'll get snapped up and agree to move on. Sad as it is, but until Roy goes I truly believe that more of our talent will walk out the door trailing behind Aqua, Insua and Ayala.

Worse than that though is trying to do the opposite, attracting players. Will the likes of Comolli and Kenny have enough of an influence and pull to ensure new young talent want to come to Pool? It doesn't take a genius to see how Roy is using (or not using) the players he already has. Is that really what young players want? That's why it's so important to hold onto what we've got now, get rid of Roy and get some damn common sense flowing again.

John Barnes.

Hopefully Aurelio can sustain some fitness and replace Konchesky so the damage will be minimal.

I do think that NESV are very aware of our limitations up front so I would expect a striker coming in. They also seem like they are interested in revenue etc so an Asian striker like Honda might be appropriate

Roy will be salivating! Carlton Cole up for sale, $10m in Jan.

Are you listening John W Henry?

You will hear few dissenting voices when you argue that the two top teams in the Bundesliga owe a good deal of their current success to their respective coaches - Thomas Tuchel, masterminding Mainz, and Jurgen Klopp, directing Dortmund.

The two are often compared as they've both made their name at Mainz, teach a pressing game that is - in every sense of the word - breathtaking, are partial to working with inexpensive talents and embody the new school of smart, young coaches who were good but not great footballers. Heck, they almost look as if they've been cast in the same mould.

"Of course Kloppo and Thomas closely resemble each other in their manner and their style," says Christian Heidel, business manager for Mainz and the man who handed both Klopp and Tuchel their first coaching jobs in the senior game. "They are both full-on experts and absolutely authentic. At Mainz, we can't have somebody on the sidelines who wears posh threads and writes into notebooks." (If you think that last bit is a good-natured dig at Louis van Gaal, I won't disagree.)

But there are also more than just a few differences between the two. Tuchel is a gifted tactician, who prepares what he calls "matchplans" that are custom-made for the opposition. This is why he often changes his side from week to week and will think nothing of benching players even when they've done very well the previous Saturday.

Klopp's major strength, on the other hand, lies in his exceptional man-management. He possesses the rare gift of always addressing people, and that doesn't mean just players, the right way. Amongst other things, this knack allows him to stick to his first XI without alienating his subs. Klopp is also clever enough to trust his assistant Zeljko Buvac with deciphering the tactical fine print.
