That's sacking material right there. FFS Woy it was Wolves at ANFIELD(all due respect to Wolves and all), a fair result is letting them get 1 while you go on and score 3 or 4
none of you guys get it

i think his statement was fair - he is giving his opinion based on the 90 minutes of play, not on the fixture and squads on paper.

wolves at home? of course you should win. thats not what he's saying.

His comment was fair? Really? Saying 0-0 would have been a fair result is a fair comment if say Wolves goal was dodgy and undeserved, but it was a fair goal (far too many "fairs" in their post!). Over the 90 minutes of play 1-0 was a fair result, because Liverpool offered little and Wolves took their chance. Hodgson trying to say that game was worthy of a draw is ridiculous. Supporting this team is getting harder by the game!

Like the Bitter, Giddy said, a fair result at Anfield against Wolves should have been 3or4-1 in favour of LFC regardless of how we played.

In the previous 6 seasons leading up to Roy's take over we've only ever lost 6 matches at Anfield. 6. That's on average of once per season over 6 years. Birmingham in 04, Man U, Chelsea, Arsenal and Villa are the only teams to win at our 'fortress'. Thanks to Roy our fortress is now sticks and stones with teams like Wolves (to quote McCarthy) "thought we'd have a go". Mentally teams were beat before they got through the Shankly gates now Northampton, Blackpool and Wolves have 'famous' victories all in one bloody season.

8 of the 14 squad members playing today were here in 08/09 when we punished Madrid at Anfield 4-0 and then Man U 4-1 all within a week. We don't have a lower mid table squad by any stretch but Roy's negative and out dated tactics are killing us worse than those two fat geezers who tried to run the club in the ground financially. You can probably tell I'm a bit fed up...

Has Roy gone yet?
about 15 years ago · edited over 13 years ago
Oh and one more thing, "Hodgson for England" was the first time the Kop have sung Roy's name. For the Kop not to sing a managers name in 6 months and when they do it's negative says something. He's making Souness look like a gem right now...
about 15 years ago · edited over 13 years ago
that performance today was actually shameful. what a crap way to start my holiday away from welly. Roy will not resign as according to reports he was asked many times at blackburn but never did until he got the boot. I love your stat kop about anfield as a fortress. Perennial strugglers liverpool is much more realistic this year. It also looks like torres doesnt want anything to do with us...i hope its purely a roy thing

I think you will find that Roy has been dumped for Frank Rijkaard.

If you are old and wise you were probably young and stupid

http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/premier-league/wards-strike-leaves-hodgson-reign-hanging-by-a-thread-2171828.html

Roy Hodgson has been waiting a long time to hear the Kop sing his name but never did he think it would be quite like this. The bitterly ironic barbs of "Hodgson for England" rained down on him last night as his Liverpool side fell to a dispiriting and justified defeat to a club which arrived with the worst away record in all four English divisions.

[Wolves] Those visiting fans did, indeed, have the last shout. "How sh*t must you be," they sang to the locals. "We're winning away."

I assume he was talking about league games only.

That isn't what he said. If he did mean league games then it's not a fair supporting statistic as he's using it to explain that anfield was once a 'fortress' - the competition shouldn't be taken into account when claiming that? Also, mentioning the loss to northampton this season in comparison wouldn't be appropriate if league games are the only thing under discussion here?

Incidentally, and to top it off, here are the league losses at anfield in the 6 seasons prior to hodgson taking charge;

liverpool 1 arsenal 2
liverpool 1 villa 3
liverpool 0 chelsea 2
liverpool 0 manU 1

Premier League.

1 Jan 05 -
1 Jan 11

Look at the teams that beat us previously: United, Chelsea, Arsenal and Villa. Birmingham was earlier in 04 but let's count it anyway. 6+ Years of prem games and Birmingham were the lowest rank side to beat us.

Now add Blackpool, newly promoted and Wolves bottom of the league with the worst away record of all 4 leagues.

Throw Northampton into the mix (it was a cup tie) from L2 and it's an abysmal 6 months for us.
about 15 years ago · edited over 13 years ago
The use of Northampton was to illustrate just how atrocious the last 6 months have been overall. They are League 2 after all.

I'm with paulm on this one, I think you should give Roy AT LEAST a couple of seasons to prove his worth.

I see a chasm between LFC fans expectation/demands and the the actuality of their playing staff to deliver this.

by all means blame Roy, but he is working with a bottom half of the table squad. That considered 12th isn't as bad as it could be.

quite why the club has stagnated so badly may be beyond my brief, currently I assume it's clear evidence of how capitalism is killing the game. It's cool buying Torres, but none of your outfield defenders would get a start at either Arsenal, Chelsea or MUFC. So immediately your pushing s**t uphill...

I honestly think blaming Roy misses the point and does more harm than good to a fantastic and rich histories football club.

We got the 3pts and that was the main thing this morning. Roy said after the match: "I'd have been happy with the draw."

Good to have Nando and Cole on the board. A couple of guys who need a bit of a lift at the mo. Keep walking fellas.

A few interesting reads. The Mirror is usually pretty reliable with their reporting, for them and the Telegraph to both come out yesterday saying the owners have already begun their search for a new manager means there must be some truth to it.

Liverpool actively considering replacing Roy Hodgson should right candidate become available

Liverpool owners have already begun search for Hodsgon's permanent replacement

Looks like Ralf Rangnick has just left Hoffenheim. One of the upcoming young managers out of Germany who brought Hoff out of L2 and were starting to challenge for the Europa spot this season. Queue LFC talk...

Edit:
Bundesliga club Hoffenheim have reached agreement to part company with coach Ralf Rangnick, according to the weekly Bild am Sonntag newspaper. However, Hoffenheim spokesman Markus Sieger insisted on Saturday: "We can't and won't comment for the moment." The 52-year-old's contract runs until June 30, 2012 after extending last May. Rangnick took over in June 2006 and under his guidance the small outfit from southern Germany reached third in the Bundesliga. Bayern Munich announced earlier on Saturday that Hoffenheim's Brazilian midfielder Luiz Gustavo had agreed a move to the Bundesliga champions with immediate effect, a transfer which Rangnick totally opposed. "The departure of Luiz Gustavo to Bayern during the winter break is out of the question in my eyes," Rangnick said last month. Hoffenheim are currently eighth in the Bundesliga.

It will be interesting to see how much roy gets "backed" monetary wise over this month. If he gets very little he will know he ain't gonna last very long! Only thing I can hope for is a decent signing that any manager would be happy with.

Three for me, and two for them.

Anything interesting happening? Rumours of transfers... Gaffers linked. Or is everything fine now we scrapped past Bolton.

Roy: Nothing to see here, move along. Move along...

Managers rumours are picking up. Ralf Rangnick who just quit Hoffenheim. Michael Laudrop, Owen Coyle in the summer with Kenny temping for a few months. It's all there.

Few players being touted as prospects and the latest on Agger is he wants to quit if he doesn't get first team footy.

In other words, nothing new.
about 15 years ago · edited over 13 years ago
I reckon Agger will be back in the starting line up huh, he seemed to make a difference against Bolton. One more loss and I reckon Roy is gooone, No new Manager until the summer though.

A few players linked...Marveux, Elia, Gervinho....wonder of there is any truth in any of them.

Let's hope this is a better year than last huh lads!

Did a bit of digging (aka Newnow)

Ricky van Wolfswinkel has been heavily linked, is touted as "The new Van Basten"
Also, Keisuke Honda, being linked again... wouldn't mind Case-K coming in
and Eljero Elia has also been linked

Sickening...

Earlier this week Hodgson pleaded for more time at Anfield stating: "I'm hoping that one day I will get a chance to stamp a little bit more of my authority and philosophy on the team by choosing some more of the players,

"Although it's not often mentioned I've not been that active in the transfer market since I've been here."

Your Philosophy?! You bought Konch, Poulsen, Meireles and Cole on a free. Only Miereles has shown glimpses of class.
