A couple of points (hopefully without fueling the fires too much)
1. Regarding having no money to spend. I believe that's false and I'm not sure where that came from. We're a week into Jan, how many players have been traded or bought so far? Not many, if any. Let's just wait and see. I doubt Roy will have much if any say in transfers. It'll be Comolli's job.
2. It's clear to even us that the squad isn't good enough. G&H policy of 4 transfer windows of selling has left us thin on the ground. Losing Alonso was huge but that was partly Rafa's fault. It was G&H's fault for then pocketing the 30mil. Same with Mascherano, that money disappeared in Texas before the club was sold.
I expect us to lose a chunk of 'deadwood' as the media like to put it. The deadwood will include some of our stars as unfortunate as that will be. It's just the result of 3 years in the crapper finally coming to a head. We maybe able to salvage some with a good managerial signing but having said that there maybe a few players who need their wings clipped if not fully removed. I'm talking about Stevie, Carra and Nando may fit in there too. There's been too much say from players especially from the Purslow era. Time they focussed on onfield duties.
3. The next manager has to be solid, both tactically and in player management (for the very reasons I mentioned above). I'm preparing myself for a lengthy search and rightly so. I think Kenny will caretake until the summer. I don't mind if it takes until June to find a new manager as long as it's the right one. Roy was the wrong choice from the start and while the players certainly have a bit to answer for Roy has shown he can't manage the players and doesn't have the tactical awareness to match our club. I actually feel minutely sorry for the guy as it was a poor executive appointment but having said that Roy has openly said he deserved the position after 35 years service climbing the greasy pole. It hasn't worked out and he hasn't chosen to end it on his own terms ie. resign.
4. I'm sick of fighting. When was the last time we talked footy? Seems an age ago now. There's a long road ahead and the decisions being made from now until kick off on day 1 next season will define where we head for the foreseeable future.
