Nice skirmish yesterday fellas, sorry I missed it...

A couple of points (hopefully without fueling the fires too much)

1. Regarding having no money to spend. I believe that's false and I'm not sure where that came from. We're a week into Jan, how many players have been traded or bought so far? Not many, if any. Let's just wait and see. I doubt Roy will have much if any say in transfers. It'll be Comolli's job.

2. It's clear to even us that the squad isn't good enough. G&H policy of 4 transfer windows of selling has left us thin on the ground. Losing Alonso was huge but that was partly Rafa's fault. It was G&H's fault for then pocketing the 30mil. Same with Mascherano, that money disappeared in Texas before the club was sold.

I expect us to lose a chunk of 'deadwood' as the media like to put it. The deadwood will include some of our stars as unfortunate as that will be. It's just the result of 3 years in the crapper finally coming to a head. We maybe able to salvage some with a good managerial signing but having said that there maybe a few players who need their wings clipped if not fully removed. I'm talking about Stevie, Carra and Nando may fit in there too. There's been too much say from players especially from the Purslow era. Time they focussed on onfield duties.

3. The next manager has to be solid, both tactically and in player management (for the very reasons I mentioned above). I'm preparing myself for a lengthy search and rightly so. I think Kenny will caretake until the summer. I don't mind if it takes until June to find a new manager as long as it's the right one. Roy was the wrong choice from the start and while the players certainly have a bit to answer for Roy has shown he can't manage the players and doesn't have the tactical awareness to match our club. I actually feel minutely sorry for the guy as it was a poor executive appointment but having said that Roy has openly said he deserved the position after 35 years service climbing the greasy pole. It hasn't worked out and he hasn't chosen to end it on his own terms ie. resign.

4. I'm sick of fighting. When was the last time we talked footy? Seems an age ago now. There's a long road ahead and the decisions being made from now until kick off on day 1 next season will define where we head for the foreseeable future.

Yup, very well said Kop. Agree with most of it, if not all of it. Top post!

^Thanks for that link, it's pretty much what I suspected and confirms the rumours circulating since Rafa left. It's also my biggest concern in getting Rafa back and if NESV want Rafa they need to move Stevie and Carra on.

Yeah. Its gonna be an interesting few months! Really need to get a good manager in; as it may be time to completely rebuild the squad and start all over again, kind of thing. Whether Rafa can do that or not... Carra defo needs to be moved on regardless of who the manager is, tbh. Stevie just can't play centre-mid. Not sure if you've read that 'Gerrard Unbound' thread from RAWK? Brilliant post about his positioning and where he should play.

YUZ! Dignified response from Roy, but he could just never cut it. I honestly cannot believe the amount of sh*t Rafa gets from people and how much protection Hodgson got. But thats for another day. Glad he's gone. And we welcome back the KING!! Surely the players would be up for playing under Kenny. At least we have our club back now.

Suddenly, I'm excited for tomorrow's game!! Briiiiiing on yer Manchester United...

Worst decision ever it would've been much nicer to see him sacked after we beat you again  in the derby later this month

Interesting times.
Now we get to see how good these players are and what Dalglish can do with them.

Gosh, we've been an angry lot the last 6 months. All the angst at H&G then the see ya Roy campaign. I am really hoping that kenny brings some passion and positivity back.

Great game to start with too...

Is Dalglish any more an answer than Shearer was to NUFC?

Feel a tad sorry for the way it ended for Roy. "Hodgson Out" on the Melwood wall was a shocker. The fact NESV fired him a week ago but he had to carry as though nothing happened wasn't on. Fair play to Roy though, he left with his head held high. I thought his parting words were gracious when he could have attacked. Probably an ok chap to have a wine with but couldn't make the step up to top flight. All the best Roy, it hasn't been easy for all of us but good luck for the future.

To our boys, all the best tonight! Fight for that crest that sits over your heart and give 'em Mancs hell! YNWA

Dalglish has won 3 First Divisions, 2 FA Cup with Perennial strugglers Liverpool and a Premier League trophy with friggin Blackburn as a manager. Granted he has been away from the game in a Managerial sense for 10 years. But not much of  a comparison to Shearer. Not too mention winning success as a player

Phil Neville has won 6 Premierships.

Three for me, and two for them.

^ If you read my post, my point was Dalglish has managerial experience at the top level winning the league titles and cups. Shearer had no managerial experience at all when he took the job.

But knowing you, I have just been baited by a Phil Neville stat.

It was more the winning success as a player that got me. As if to say Shearer wasn't a great player just because of his 1 trophy at Blackburn.

Three for me, and two for them.

yeah, maybe in essence the idea is the same as Shearer, but Kenny has actually been successful as a manager before.

Cannot wait for the game tonight, even if we'll probably lose. bring it on, come on you Mighty Redmen!

Agreed. Plus the goal came from a spectacular dive.

Thought it was a little harsh, only because they both were moving in a similar direction... but can't complain.

My problem with the penalty was he took a step and then fell over.If he had fallen over when the contact was made it wouldn't have been as bad.

Penalty was a blatant dive.

Watching the Asian Cup, the commentators mentioned that Japan's Keisuke Honda had been linked with Perennial strugglers Liverpool. They followed this up by saying he had expressed a desire to play in the Premier League.

Unintentional LOLs
