Back to charlie adam, when is his contract up?
I've just done some digging. I was curious too.
He has 18 months let on his contract. He came from Rangers where he spent half of his time loaned out to St Mirran and Ross County. In 2009 he was loaned to Blackpool who 6 months later decided to buy him for a [Blackpool] record of $500k. That was only 18 months ago for a championship side. 6 months into his Prem debut Blackpool value him at $14m.
I can see from Blackpool's point of view why he's so highly rated, he's performing streaks above his team mates and he's helped them to mid table. From Blackpool's point of view our $4-5m bids have been disgraceful but let's not forget he was only worth $500k 18 months ago and Blackpool paid top dollar for him. $4-5m is probably a fair price but to take a teams top player from them part way through their prem return I can understand a premium being added. Let's say $6.5m should get the deal done.
$14m is a "not for sale" number and they won't ever get that for him. They need to way up whether they cash in now and risk relegation (which I don't believe will happen) or hold on to him and lose him at the end of the season for his fair price. Also Adam needs to way up what he wants, this may be his one and only shot at a 'big' club. Interesting to see if he can force it through. We may have bigger fish to fry come the summer.
Adam is a Perennial strugglers Liverpool fan insn't he? He was in istanbul apparently?
Or in blackpools case if he keeps playing a major part in keeping them up he's worth a heck of a lot more than 4 mil!
On another side note I was listening to bbc 606 (really good listen as well as 5 live on itunes podcast free) and a caller was complaing about holloway slating pool for such a poor offer and then he goes and offers cash strapped plymouth argyle 50k for bradley wright phillips! before he went to charlton
But to be fair he'd be a poor manager if he rolled over and let all the clubs take any good players he has for a pittance. After all it is business!
