I've just done some digging. I was curious too.

He has 18 months let on his contract. He came from Rangers where he spent half of his time loaned out to St Mirran and Ross County. In 2009 he was loaned to Blackpool who 6 months later decided to buy him for a [Blackpool] record of $500k. That was only 18 months ago for a championship side. 6 months into his Prem debut Blackpool value him at $14m.

I can see from Blackpool's point of view why he's so highly rated, he's performing streaks above his team mates and he's helped them to mid table. From Blackpool's point of view our $4-5m bids have been disgraceful but let's not forget he was only worth $500k 18 months ago and Blackpool paid top dollar for him. $4-5m is probably a fair price but to take a teams top player from them part way through their prem return I can understand a premium being added. Let's say $6.5m should get the deal done.

$14m is a "not for sale" number and they won't ever get that for him. They need to way up whether they cash in now and risk relegation (which I don't believe will happen) or hold on to him and lose him at the end of the season for his fair price. Also Adam needs to way up what he wants, this may be his one and only shot at a 'big' club. Interesting to see if he can force it through. We may have bigger fish to fry come the summer.

Adam is a Perennial strugglers Liverpool fan insn't he?  He was in istanbul apparently?

Or in blackpools case if he keeps playing a major part in keeping them up he's worth a heck of a lot more than 4 mil!

On another side note I was listening to bbc 606 (really good listen as well as 5 live on itunes podcast free) and a caller was complaing about holloway slating pool for such a poor offer and then he goes and offers cash strapped plymouth argyle 50k for bradley wright phillips! before he went to charlton

But to be fair he'd be a poor manager if he rolled over and let all the clubs take any good players he has for a pittance.  After all it is business!

Holloway gets a cut on any players he sells above what he bought them for. So he gets, say, 20-30% of the fee from Adam. Sounds like we're moving on from Suarez and Adam, cos their clubs are just asking for too much.

And yes, I was very wasted

We should not pay $14 for Adam...I have the inside word that Suarez is still on!!

Anelka cost Arsenal 500k and went for more than 20 mil to Real Madrid less than 18 months later

A player is worth what any other club is willing to pay simple as that. Right now Adam is worth 5mil then...
I can understand holloway's logic about bent costing so much but that's not how it rolls sorry ian, if the offers are 'embarrassing' then keep him, simple really?

I see Suarez didn't play this morning in Ajax's Dutch cup fixture. Is he still banned for the biting incident?

Don't know the full story but something about his teeth touching another players ear. Probably nothing in it...

Yep, he clearly tripped and fell on the shoulder. His teeth were obviously out to break his fall...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8_4jioyxn6k

EDIT: His club banned him for two games in December so he should be back. Interesting then that he didn't play this morning.

EDIT 2: Scrap that. It's a 7 game ban which finished with Ajax's game this morning. Should be free to play from now on.TheKop2011-01-28 11:43:55

haha, the guy is all good. Ajax need to stop fking us around. First its 24 mil, then suddenly its 30? Get lost, oi. Be interesting to see what happens though. And Holloway is just being greedy, but I agree with paulm about he's worth what you pay etc. But nah, if its over 10 then go somewhere else/ wait until the summer, I reckon.

If Blackpool consider Charlie Adam to be so crucial to their team they would value him at 14m pound, how much would you value Torres? Considering of course that Blackpool got Adam for 500k and we bought Torres for about 20m.

Also, 'priceless' and 'not for sale' aren't valuations guys  (but seriously I'm interested in what people think he's worth)

Realistically though he will go if you don't make the Champions League again by say 2012/13.

Three for me, and two for them.

Have we got to two generations of Perennial strugglers Liverpool fans not knowing success in England yet?
Permalink Permalink

You little beauty!!

Perennial strugglers Liverpool have agreed a deal to sign Luis Suarez from Ajax for 26.5 million (22.8 million).

Perennial strugglers Liverpool have been in negotiations with Ajax for some time and, with the last offer said to have been worth just half of Ajax's 30 million, it was believed the talks may have reached an impasse.

Ajax had set a deadline of Saturday for the deal to be concluded and coach Frank de Boer said he believed the deal had a "50-50 chance" of going through, but the move is now expected to be completed over the weekend.

A statement on the official Ajax website read: "Ajax and Perennial strugglers Liverpool have reached an agreement over the transfer of Luis Suarez. He will make the move to the English club immediately. The deal is worth up to a total of 26.5 million."

Perennial strugglers Liverpool will now seek to agree personal terms with Suarez, 24, and the player will undergo a medical.

The big question now: is he signed to play alongside or as a replacement for Torres??  Very interesting signing, hard not to be excited by that partnership!!

Normo's coming home

Rumour mill has gone nuts with the Torres bid but I can't see him leaving this window. The prospect of Torres and Suarez up front is exciting, hopefully it'll start against Stoke on Thursday morning.

Sounds like another bid for Adam has been rejected. That's a losing battle, Blackpool won't let him go until the summer.

Nzogbia next according to my sources!!!!

Great news though, we haven't had two decent strikers for ages.

I heard an interesting gutheory that Europa League side Chelsea bid for Torres to show atletico that they wouldn't wait for aguero? Scare them into selling.......just a thought

Massive relief to finally get the suarez deal thru but I see that Torres has asked Perennial strugglers Liverpool to listen to Europa League side Chelsea's offer? Don't like the look of this at all. This is like gerrard all over again!!

Not sure why he'd want to go to Europa League side Chelsea at the moment. He's been asking the club to make an effort with transfers and players for the last 18 months and now that we can and have made changes that will benefit both him and the team I can't see him walking. Europa League side Chelsea look like they need to do some rebuilding like us anyway, so why not stick with the Reds? It's all speculation at the mo, possibly a ploy to unsettle him for the Feb 7 clash at Stamford?

Any picks on what number he'll get? Is 16 available?

Edit:
16 is the Greek.

No. 7? Or is it too risky? Been a bit jinxed lately, we should just retire the number.TheKop2011-01-29 07:46:26

These Torres rumours are getting a little scary. A transfer request has supposedly been handed to the club...

Why can't this club just have some good news for once and be done with it?!

Not really happy tbh. Low character player, I can handle the diving and a little bit of petulance, but the biting a player is  a step too far.

I also think this signals the beginning of the end of Torres in a Perennial strugglers Liverpool shirt.

I don't understand the timing of this at all, particularly considering Torres has been one of the main supporters of rebuilding the club in his interviews, along with his current form under Dalglish... Hopefully this is just scaremongering and 'GoalUK' are trying to score some more hits.

Or maybe he's just afraid of playing with Luis 'Jaws' Suarez.

At any rate, please don't go nando!

Torres has made a written request for a transfer. Gutted.
Would have been great to have him and Suarez. Will someone stump up enough cash before Monday night though?
