One for you United fans. The game ended in a 2-2 but unfortunatly there's only 1-1 on this clip. Good for me but better for you guys as it's pretty much a classic United line up with Coppell, Hill and Pearson. Young United fans can get to see the side that flourished with exciting footie in the 70's. Just ignore the haircuts, especially Coppells.

The Berbatov Era is Upon Us.

Whilst i rate berbatov as a player, i also feel he is lacking the ability to carry the attack the way rooney can. If rooney were to be missing for a few games in a row, i get the feeling that you may be lacking goal scoring ability. I may be prooved completely wrong tho.  However, if torres and gerrard were missing i reckon the nix could take those scousers

Not to put words in your mouth Downey, but it seems to me that you are suggesting that Liverpool depend on a 14 year old girl and a criminal to win football matches...

Will be a tough game in the morning away at cska... no rooney giggs fletch evra or park. Also vidic and berba are doubtful aswell. Bugger.

Ill settle for a 1-0 win

Well it was 1-0, hardly a terrific match but we got there... Valencia in the 85th or something. It's the sort of game where a Ronaldo goal would've made the difference last season, so it's nice for his replacement to get the goal. Thought Antonio was quite good, Berba had some nice touches and Nani, well he is the most frustrating player I think I've ever seen for United. Had some lovely parts to play in the game but his desicion making is seriously dodgy and does some really dumb things. Unlucky not to score though.

Defence were good, O'Shea did a good job as a holding midfield player. Bring on Liverpool, hope this isn't a banana skin, they are right sh*t at the moment and we should account for them.

0-0 after 35-odd minutes in the other group game by the way, Wolfsburg hosting Besiktas.

1-0
i said id settle for that! 5 points clear in the group now....sweeeet

Nani was very good today, looked the most likely out of the lot i must say.

Really lookin forward to the game at anfield now. 2-0 united i say

That draw between Besiktas and Wolfsburg really helped settle things down - with two home matches left that away game against Wolfsburg is one where we can afford to drop points.

Table as it currently stands:

Team Pld W D L GF GA GD Pts
Manchester United 3 3 0 0 4 1 +3 9
Wolfsburg 3 1 1 1 4 3 +1 4
CSKA Moscow 3 1 0 2 3 5 −2 3
Beşiktaş 3 0 1 2 1 3 −2 1

Looking good!!

Yea didn't think much of the game this morning, though understandable to relax away from home. Also with a few of the key players out. Good to see Valencia getting on the scoresheet, shows some excellent pace at times too.

Well well well. Very contrasting fortunes at the moment for our two clubs. With almost everything going against us (from injuries to...well, beachballs!) United enter as favourites to win. With Anfield being too tense and possibly no Gerrard, Torres or Johnson (I'm thinking Nando and GJ at least will be back- although I'm not certain) and Aquilani a bit far out for starting, its hard to see where any performance is going to come from. The back four seem well out of sorts, and everybody knows that we're a two man team, so the goals won't be flowing.

But write us off at your peril. It's backs-to-the-wall time and its time to protect Rafa's job, so if this game can't get the players up for it then they shouldn't be playing for us. This game is potentially massive for us.

And, lest we forget, the return of a particular rat...

There are a lot of points left to be won and lost. We can do it, provided things go our way, but whether we will or not is a completely different matter.

I'm just hoping that we're saving all our good luck for this weekend!

Well we don't have CR at all these season and seem to be progressing well enough, if not the same style as last year.

Our away CL games are always a little like yesterday, not classics by any mean, but we often sneak a winner in. I was more than happy with the result.

It's not like we aren't without our injury problems. Rooney, Giggs, Evra, Park and Fletcher all didn't start the CL game in Moscow and Fabio was stretchered off at the end.

Yeah. But lets face it. Most of them will be fit for our game. And you actually have a big squad. We're calling in reserve players (Spearing, Kelly, Ngog). You can bring on players like Scholes, Nani, Berbatov etc. Yeah, Paulinho, but its a bit different when Mr Ferguson has had the summer to assess how his squad is- rather than being in the middle of the season with no replacement for Torres. Mind you, I guess you'll argue that we should have thought of that before the season started, which is fair...

Yes I dont think you will be repeating last year's result at Anfield. Valencia has been on fire in the last couple of weeks, capped off by goals against Bolton and CSKA. Hopefully Fergie will see sense and relegate Nani to the bench and have Obertan, Park or Tosic on the left flank instead. Come oN United!

Haven't been keeping up with injuries etc. When does Obertan come back? Would be keen to see him play!

Nani had a very positive showing in moscow, if he can build off that then he could turn into a half decent player... he must know his number will soon be up if he doesnt pull finger. And Tosic is still trying to put on a few pounds in his upper body, thats why he's not first team yet, hes too skinny! When/if he gets more of that upper body strength thats when we'll see him.

Saw some of the reserves game v oldham where Obertan played the first half. Looks to be pretty quick and also a bit tricky, hes quite tall and solid. Looking forward to when he's upto scratch and ready for some first team lovin. Doubt itll be for a while yet tho.

Will see Hargreaves in before Obertan i think.

The Man United website had video highlights of Obertans United debut in a reserve game. He looked really good, quick and skillful and should have had a good assist but for a sh*t finish from Josh King. He might be  a few weeks away tho

Wonder if Ferguson will let Owen have a crack at them from the start. If Wazza's not fit then it may well happen. Obviously in Russia we played just one up top. Can't wait, but got the big one this arvo to worry about first. Then I'll focus on United.

bloody excited for tonight now! hopefully can cap off a great weekend. will be interesting to see if roon and fletch make it. Both very key players but replacements can be found. I think I read somewhere that we will start one up front if Roon doesn't make it. Counting on talisman Giggsy

I felt that coming somewhat before the game.

Oh well.

It seems whenever the Phoenix do well, United don't, and vice versa.Michael2009-10-26 09:50:43

Was a bit of a no-show by us.

Although in saying that had some of the decisions been made that should have been perhaps it would have been different.

But nothing excuses playing sh*te.

Lucas should have had about 8 yellow cards, Carragher should have been sent off...the list goes on.

Ah well better to get it out of the system now after a long ass trip to Moscow and back, and the next game is the carling cup in midweek.

I honestly don't see why refs can't be criticized, especially when they make awful decisions.

So what if he hasn't gone down the correct channels, the correct channels don't work. Report a ref to the FA and they just let it blow over.Michael2009-10-26 12:48:07
