Good 4-1 win at Pompey this morning, Rooney hattrick, I believe it was only his third (?) since joining, and obviously he scored that one on debut.

I must say I was confused when they got their penalty, it took them 5 or 6 replays of actually NOTHING happening in the box to spot Vidic grabbing Piquionne's shirt for an instant - never mind though, we got two penalties ourselves. Both deserved as well.

Ryan scored his 100th Premier League goal from a nice free kick. But we are really going to need another left midfielder at some point, sell Nani and bring someone in.

Nice to close the gap at the top ahead of the Arse vs Chelsea match tonight.

Was a good second half performance, the sh*t weather actually seemed to help!

Rooney worked his arse off and deserved what he got today.....and he's my captain on fantasy  so thanks for that jimmy

Oh the other hat-trick was his 21st weekend at Bolton when he hadnt scored for a good few weeks and the media were on his case big time (w**kers) so he shut them up.

Giggsy's just pure class, and i aggree with what Fergie said after the game that we'll get another 2 years out of him yet

How funny is sh*tty drawing again! And at home to Hull of all the strugglers

Wouldnt mind seeing an Arsenal win tonight over Chelsea, and come on Everton!

If United unearthed another Giggs, god knows what he'd be worth on the market at aged 18. Ronaldo was the closest to a young Ryan Giggs. Shame wales never achieved anything, having players like him and Rush in the team and nothing to show.

They got a 2 all draw with World Cup powerhouses NZ!

World Cups Qualified for:

New Zealand -  2  (1982, 2010)

Wales             -  1  (1958)

I apologize for the hijack.

Three for me, and two for them.

Haha big Stoive slept in and missed the first half, I remember ringing him as the second half started and saying "yeah he's got 2 on debut already..." Ah those were the days.

Richie, Sh*tty drawing again is truly magnificent. Rumours that Tevez is upset that he's on the bench all the time... Um.... Wow.

The only thing that could make it any better is (apart from Phoenix to win of course), but Liverpool to get rolled in the derby. Hope Louis gives them all sorts!

2-0 win over Spurs in the Carling Cup this morning. Gibson with two long range strikes. Second was a very classy goal. He strikes the ball so well. Good to see that it was a largely unchanged team that lost in the CL midweek and they managed to lift their performance for this game.

Well to account for a team that is third in the league is very impressive. The semi final draw could be interesting, could be Man City or Chelsea (if both win their quarters) which would be a really fantastic opportunity.

Gibson is a great striker of the ball, if he can tidy up parts of his midfield play we could have a very useful player indeed.

I dunno, I think SAF might be out to seriously win this one against their rivals. He's been in Manchester long enough to know the rivalry and how "personal" it is.

I'd say a likely team would have a Kuzczak or Foster as GK, pretty much first choice back 4 (Vidic played the other night), and guys like Park and Anderson in midfield. SAF can then play Gibson and Welbeck and Macheda (signed a new 4 year deal the other day - congrats to him), claim it as a youth team, when in truth has a pretty good side out there.

Good win this morning. Though I am a little annoyed as I stayed up and watched Portsmouth vs. Burnley before hand then this game and only lasted just before the hour mark thinking that the job was done at 1-0. Only woke up about 20min ago and found out we scored 3 more goals.

Our defence is looking very thin, a back four of Fletcher, Carrick, Brown and Evra is not great. I was also going to come here and give Gibson a hard time, up till the point I watched (which must have been about 1 or 2 min from his goal) he wasn't great, heavy touch, poor passing and not good enough. Anderson wasn't playing that well either. But watched the highlights and good goal from Gibson and nice pass to set up a goal from Anderson.

I agee about Gibson, I was watching him closely as he makes big headlines for scoring these stunning goals, but it's his midfiled play I'm concerned about. Jury still out for me, thought the first 25minutes he was OK, then the rest of the half he was rubbish.

By the way, I have ever mentioned that I love Carlos Tevez?

It seems Vidic didn't fly with the team to Germany. De Laet isn't in the squad either, nor are Berbatov, Rooney, Giggs and Macheda, so a lot of youngsters have been called up. Need a draw to secure top spot or we could playing Barcelona/Real Madrid etc. in the next round.

Uniteds 19-man squad for the game in Wolfsburg: Tomasz Kuszczak, Ben Foster, Patrice Evra, Oliver Gill, Gabriel Obertan, Magnus Eikrem, Paul Scholes, Darron Gibson, Antonio Valencia, Michael Carrick, Matty James, Darren Fletcher, Ji-sung Park, Anderson, Cameron Stewart, Nani, Oliver Norwood, Michael Owen, Danny Welbeck

He didn't do to bad. 1 with the head, a tap in and the last was his best using his body well to protect the ball before lifting it over the keeper. Should have had another moments before his third, through 1-on-1 with keeper and I think going for between the keepers legs but the keeper saved. His movement and ability to find space is pretty good, one time his touch let him down where if had a better touch would have beaten his man and created a scoring opportunity.

From the game I was again impressed with Scholes. Totally dominated the midfield for Man Utd, Anderson and Gibson are ok but Scholes is just class always available for a pass, great decision making, creates space for himself, great first touch, excellent passing range and one touch football. He is really playing well at the moment and I am sure that Capello would love for him to come out of retirement to play for England.

I have to wait to tonight to catch the replay but it all sounds pretty positive. Very happy for Mickey, any hattrick should be enough for the national coach to take a look. A back line made up of midfielders has again proved they are up to the job.

Speaking of the defensive crises, there might be the slightest chance that Sol Campbell may come in for 6 or so months till the end of the season. Would help ease the burden back there a touch, especially with Rio seemingly out for an undisclosed time. Needs to sort out his issues with Notts County first though.

MANCHESTER Uniteds defensive crisis has become so desperate they have considered a move for Sol Campbell.

Injuries and illness have robbed United manager Sir Alex Ferguson of Rio Ferdinand, Nemanja Vidic, Gary Neville, Wes Brown, John OShea and Jonny Evans.

Ferguson expects to have Vidic back from flu in time for Saturdays Premier League game against Aston Villa, but he is still woefully short of cover at the back.

He is examining his options and one idea that has been muted is to make a move to sign free agent Campbell, 35, on a short-term deal.

But having cancelled his contract with Notts County, it is believed that, under FIFA rules, Campbell cannot play for another club until January and that is too late for United.

Newcastle held talks with Campbell, but were put off by his 40,000-a-week wages. Hull and Everton are also interested.

Ferguson sprang a surprise in January 2007 by signing Henrik Larsson, who was 35, on loan to help bolster his attacking options.
