Really happy with that result, a good win in Spain, a clean sheet, and a goal to Hernandez. We absorbed all their pressure and then got the late goal.

Nani was very good, Carrick looked fairly solid when Valencia had the ball and it was nice to have Rio and Vida at the back. Loving Kiko's contribution as well.

With Scholes, Giggs and Rooney out I'd like to see:

VDS

RAFAEL - Rio - Vidic - Evra

Fletcher - Carrick

Anderson

Nani - Berba - Macheda

.
Not sure about the formation but I think Macheda deserves a start but I don't think he'll get one. We are really lacking a wide left player at the moment (would love to see Bale in a United kit) and if he plays Park I will be really angry. Did absolutely nothing when he came on against Bolton. Rafael HAS to come in for O'Shea, I think its a given.

Let's hope for another United victory.

Steady on mate.  They are the experts on that subject. ;)

"It is an inexplicable result and obviously frustrating" according to Ferguson.  Right sentiment, but I think he means "inexcusable".  Things are bound to be a bit odd after the World Cup disrupted pre-season.

Wayne Rooney declares his intention to walk out on Manchester United

Wayne Rooney has thrown Manchester United's season into a state of turmoil after informing the club he has no plans to sign another contract and intends to find new employers. Rooney's decision is based on serious differences with Sir Alex Ferguson, the Guardian understands, and will be a devastating blow to the supporters who have come to regard him as a talismanic figure in this troubled era under Malcolm Glazer's ownership.

Brilliant. Although I kind of wish he would stay with his current form.

United XI of players who have had a bust up with Fergie.

Barthez

Heinze - Stam - McGrath - Irwin

Beckham - Keane - Ince - Kanchelskis

Van Nistelrooy - Rooney

Just need a right back. EDIT: Could have Heinze there perhaps.Buffon II2010-10-18 16:16:39

Yep

One of the things I've always liked about Fergy is his, "If you're bigger than the club f**k off" attitude.

Very little people get into this situation and follow up with a blossoming career.

Anyway its just the typical sh*t that comes out of papers.

This is going to be a very interesting story to follow over the next few months. At the moment he would fetch, what, 50m? 40m? That'll drop pretty quickly if this worsens though.

Dwight Yorke on the bench.

Btw I'm just seeing how this Rooney thing plays out. Still not convinced he'll leave though you would think where there's smoke there's usually fire. Interesting.

When does his contract expire?  End of next season?  If so they may not get as much (though still heaps).  Though the fair of him going on a free at the end of the contract could lead to some rich clubs trying to buy him out and pushing it up, I guess.  Regardless, sooner he's gone the better.  Still haven't got over his dive when our unbeaten streak was ended. loyalgunner2010-10-18 23:54:23

40m tops I reckon, given impending run-down of contract and indifferent form for the past nine months or so.

Could only really see City offering more than that and I doubt he would go there (although it would be hilarious if he did!).

Very interesting, that would be a real parting blow if he invoked that.

Exactly, that's my point. Why is continuously like this with top players? Also i spose you could have a case for including Ronaldo here too.

Wes Brown could be your right back if recent reports are to be believed . . .
