Lol! That's classy. Pretty risky since he hasn't even played for them yet.

BTW can't wait to get one of the new strips, they look fantastic in action IMO.

Nani or Anderson on the back?

Why does it have to be a fringe player?

I see a certain ex hero played against Shamrock Rovers in a friendly and was booed everytime he touched the ball for Real earlier today.

Found this too!

So first Premiership match of the season only2 and a half weeks away, Community Shield even sooner, what's the makeup of the first team for the Birmingham match?

Hargreaves and Rafael not considered through injury:

GK: Van der Sar
RB: O'Shea
CD: Vidic
CD: Ferdinand
LB: Evra
RM: Valencia
CM: Carrick
CM: Fletcher
LM: Park
ST: Rooney
ST: Berbatov

Nani, Owen, Macheda, Fabio, Evans, Anderson and Foster on the bench.

Foster could push for a starting spot if he does well against Chelsea in the Community Shield, with Van der Sar playing only one match a week this season. Midweek game at Burnley the following Thursday morning.

Fabio is also a chance at RB, according to Sir Alex he is only known as a LB because Rafael has always played on the right.

And of course, there is always a chance Ferguson will let Owen loose on his first game at Old Trafford.

VDS

O shea, Rio, Vidic, Evra

Nani, Carrick, Scholes, Tosic

Rooney, Berbatov

Bench: Owen,Valencia, Macheda, Anderson / Gibson, Evans, Rafael, Foster

Both Nani and Tosic have been going well pre-season. Could even see Gibson thrown in there aswell. Is bloody good to have a pretty well settled back line!

Bring on the new season cant wait

I could see Owen starting with Berbatov, and Rooney playing leftish (like he did a bit last year) with Valencia on the wing.

I really wonna see Berbs, Owen and Rooney on at one time.

Rooney HAS to play as a centre forward to fill the void that was Ronaldo's Goals. Can't see Owen starting big games unless one of them is out. Mickey is perfect bench material IMO, though no Solskjaer...

I'd like the team to be playing 433 though, and can't see Dimitar playing wide.

Nah I think we are gonna revert to a solid 4-4-2, with four strikers rotating the 2 foward positions. Not too sure how Rooney / Berbatov / Owen would go to be honest. I agree with Oska, Wayne has to play as a foward striker, which I'm sure he will.

Tosic has a big chance this season of playing wide left if he can bulk up a little - he's still too small.

I saw that the link was from manutd.com and got all excited! Though its just the paper rumour mill, I'm not sure if Silva will come. We can hope so though, would be an outstanding player to play out on the left hand side.

Didn't he pledge his future to Valencia recently though?

I think he wants to stay in Spain? But otherwise I'd guess he'd come to us. Meh, you all thought you were going to get Torres though, I suppose.

Silva could easily be the difference between 1st and 2nd/3rd for us this season IMO

A talent on the up but is he that needed though? You could see him being the replacement for Ronaldo but United do already have plenty of talent that can do the attacking job and none of the Top 4 have strengthed there squads yet.
Chelsea have made a few squad signings, Arsenal have lost Kolo and Ade and Liverpool seem to have every player linked to other clubs. As things stand i still think United have the top squad.

My god, a brand new season and no ManU fans in sight since August 6?

Looks like you all followed your man to Real?

Or on holiday...

Good win this morning though, even if my throat is so raw from the Nix yesterday. With those Liverpool Twits losing to Tottenham (lol) it makes it an incredibly good weekend all up.

What a save from foster - just saw the highlight reel. Owen shoulda scored that one on one too. He's there to finish chances exactly like that - you'd be hoping he buries them when they are critical to the result...
