Trying to recall the last time I had this much trepidation ahead of a Southampton game. Probably the '76 FA cup final (ouch). The saints project under Pochettino is progressing nicely.
English (and other British lower league) Football Discussion
Manchester United
I remember the 76 final. First and only time I have ever bet on a football match. Southampton a division below us, I though easy. I bet $100 on Utd ( which was more than a weeks wages) with an acquaintance. I did pay up but it taught me a lesson about gambling, which was stay away from it.

Ha ha. I got up at midnight to watch it with the old man. I had a new Man U scarf & hot cocoa to keep me warm. (And just realised that this weekend is a FIFA window)!
Kotahitanga. We are one.
Result was not what we wanted but have to say that Utd played pretty well and really should have scored 2/3 more. Take nothing away from S'hampton, they were sharp, kept possession well and if they had been better in the final third things could have been different.
They are as good ( apart from City) as any EPL team I have seen this season. There won't be many teams that will get anything from them at St. Marys.
One great thing for us is that we have signed the outstanding Januzaj on a 5 year deal.
Makes getting up at 3 am worth while to watch this guy.He really is a fabulous talent. There were some on here that did think we would lose him but he has always made it clear that Utd is where he wants to be.

i thought you guys could lose him, and that would not have been a good look
huge positive for moyes - starting him in games and re-signing him too
Anything could have happened of course Paulm but he always said he wanted Utd.
You guys have got some huge games in the next 4 weeks.

certainly do, including one manchester united... we may just have higher hopes than we have for many a year this time round... not sure if that's a good or a bad thing! the nerves will be jangling

This is the first time for years that I reckon that you have a real chance to be successful. You can do it but Man City will be the tester.

lol
At least I am being realistic instead of being like an Arsenal supporter for the last 8 years saying every year thar thay are going to win the EPL.That is LOL

Think of it as a point earned from a top four side, don't be too cut up matey.

Here's where I'm at with one of our issues: Moyes is playing the wrong formation (442) in order to try to play Rooney and RVP as much as possible. Neither Robin or Wayne naturally play as a top-of-the-triangle creative midfielder that a 4231 necessitates and our current crop of wide midfielders play as traditional wingers - which means we tend to get bossed in midfield against a 3 midfield system. Fellaini ain't it and unless he converts someone (Anderson? Janujaz? Cleverley? Nani? Raphael?) then the only player on the books to do it is Kagawa. Yet Moyes has not really tried anyone in the role as he's trying to keep RVP and Rooney happy. It's hurting us I reckon. He'd be better playing 433 given our current personnel. The key central attacking midfielder that we don't have is causing us so many problems. But this is what we've been saying for a long time now it seems.

Keeps giving Giggs a run. An absolute joke. He has the skills but is two yards too slow and effectively we are playing with 10 men. I can't be the only one on this planet to see this.

+1 and probably +1,000,000

Got up 5 mins after KO and could not believe we were 1-0 down.
In the end the changes that were made were the obvious ones and really we should have scored 4/5. Moyes just has to get the best team on the park and we will beat anyone.

4-0. That is better.

Young dives. Again. (Penalty hit the post so you wonder about karma).
Moyes starts Giggs. Again.
Man U look pedestrian in attack. Again.
Fellaini gets sent off for stupid challenge. Again.
Sigh.
Kotahitanga. We are one.
Yep, another dive. wasn't even mad when the penalty missed. before he took it I said I would of just missed it on purpose. should've won it with either hernandez's miss from 6 yards, or Van Persie's when he hit the post. Fellaini was just plain stupid too.
Missed the game as I had to go to work early. Think Utd should just get rid of Young as he is a twat.
One of the London clubs could be interested.

QPR for sure - Harry loves to overpay for rubbish.
The Ruf, The Ruf, The Ruf is on Fire!!
We not only matched them in the first 30 mins but were better. I thought Arsenal were very slow to start but in the 2nd half they played well.
Moyes made a difficult situation worse by making two of the most ludicrous changes I have ever seen.I can understand pushing Jones back for Vidic, but to shore up the midfield with Cleverley and Giggs defies belief. Two fucking no-hopers against one of the best midfield team in the EPL is just plain dumb.

With lots of teams around us playing each other, we must pick up 3 points this weekend.

Labelling Giggs a "fucking no-hoper"?
Jesus wept.
Three for me, and two for them.
Another game that saw a poor Utd side get away with a point. Cleverly was again rubbish and almost gave away a goal with a poor pass. Fellaini was I though a good signing but on that performance he is only average. Was lucky to not get a red card. If Moyes persists in playing the likes of Giggs, Cleverly and Rio then we will be very lucky to end up in the top half of the table.

Leggy knows his stuff mate. Between him and Sumner they know more than any of us have ever forgotten about football.
You can ascertain what your opponent is afraid of by observing the means by which he attempts to frighten you
Astonishing result considering the way we have been playing. Although we played well at times I have to say that that is one of the worst performances I have seen from a German club side in a long time.
If you are old and wise you were probably young and stupid
Perhaps Moyes is not that bright and has not learnt from his previous errors. Cleverley is just not good enough and Jones is not a midfield player. Combine those two in the midfield and you get the poor result against Spurs. The second Spurs goal was a cracker but Tom was made to look less than average as he got done twice by Sandro before he fired in the goal. If this is the calibre of this Manager then perhaps AF made a big mistake.

Ha ha, I'm astounded you can even remember what it looks like. Almost 10 years or something. I can't recall.

Just watched the Man Utd TV replay. Unbelievable how one eyed commentators are!. COYB
are people standing by moyes still or is it time to go?

We are a shambles still unfolding. It will get worse before it gets better. Moyes is not a rebuild/"project" manager, which is what we need.
Will owners invest heavily when we miss out on champions league? Certain types of players less likely to want to come until they can see we are back with a vision to rebuild.
I suspect it's going to be ugly for a while.
Manchester United till I die.
