Glasgow kiss from Moyes?
"Come on feel the MOYZ..."
English (and other British lower league) Football Discussion
Nani gets a new 5 year deal... FIVE years... wow
What are your guys thoughts on that?
Not sure if he's earned that many years to be fair, would understand a 1 or 2 year extension, but Moyes must really rate him?
When he is on then one of the best players around, but has not played well for over a year. I would have sold him.
If you are old and wise you were probably young and stupid
Yea agreed - he is usually very dangerous against Arsenal when you guys play us, but then I see other games and he's virtually invisible. Bags of talent but a lack of consistency.
Worth re-signing if Moyes thinks he can get that consistency out of him I think, but 5 years seems crazy.
So now we will Moyes start him ahead of Valencia, Young, Giggs?
He actually needs to play ahead of a fullback who can put him into space early enough for him to use his repertoire of attacking skills - not pass him the ball when he's stationary and on the sideline and expect something to happen while fullback backpedals. I'd like to see him in combination with Rafael again.

Good laugh for a Friday.
First time this season that Moyes ( in my opinion) got the team selection exactly right. Also the first time the midfield dominated which gave the strikers a chance to do their job. Rio is still not up to it and although I would play him, Carrick still gives away far too many balls.
Rooney and RVP are a cut above all the other players although Kagawa is also class and should be playing every week. Looking forward to City on the weekend.

As poor as Utd were City were outstanding. They have quality players in every position and no team in the league will come within a bulls roar if they play like that every week.

It will take a season or two for United & Moyes to find a common ground where it works, just as it did for Fergusson. The one thing United do very well is plan for the long term future.
If tyhey have a bad season this season then so be it, will show who the loyal fans are and who isn't. You cant win everything all the time.
City so good all over the park - esp first half; and game over with those 2 quick 2nd half goals. Starting with a 442 - when Young and Valencia always play VERY wide - Fernandinho and Toure cut us up in the middle. Cleverley added some zing when he came on and Fellaini looked better in a more forward role. Some awful stuff from Rio, Vidic, Smalling (plus Aguero, Negredo, Navas and Nasir were excellent). Really not liking Valencia and Young from what I've seen thus far. Were Nani and Kagawa unused subs? Did Moyes make just the one sub?

Young seems to spend more time training to dive well and not hurt himself yet make it look spectacular than his football. I think he was better 3 years ago.
Cup game vs Liverpool - anyone see this? Did we set up with Jones and Giggs as our midfield pair with Kagawa wide? Jones and Giggs together in the middle of the park? You've got to be freaking joking!

I'll reserve comment on the result until I see the WBA game but if we assume 3 things: 1) last seasons squad over achieved, helped by poor performing other top 6 teams and RVP having injury free season; 2) failure to address squad age and quality in transfer window has meant we've moved backwards compared to other teams (moyes didn't start the job until late and new CEO didn't help); 3) moyes does know what he's doing. That being the case, then what is a realistic expectation for this season?

If Moyes thinks that a back four with Jones, Rio and Buttner in will hold any EPL team then perhaps there is still a chance for me to be on the coaching team. Add Anderson and Nani to that ( although in the last 20 mins Nani was back to his form 2 years ago) then you can understand why we lost. Rio cost us both goals and if the coaching staff can't see it then they should sacked. With so much possession we should have won this easily.
Ha ha ,love the clowns that love to hate Utd considering their teams have not won anything in recent memory.

Zaha allegedly proving to his Manager that he can score but perhaps not in the way he was expecting?
Donetsk GK didn't make a save first half. Goal was fellaini initiative in the box, and wellbeck pounced on a defenders poor touch from there.
Kotahitanga. We are one.
Pretty disheartened with that performance. Lack of ambition/creativity/quality to get the second goal meant the game was never closed out. Donetsk fully deserved their equaliser and could easily have got another if not for De Gea's brilliant reflexes to save a deflection off Cleverley.
Fellaini's passing is not his strong card and playing the attacking CM role too often he gave the ball away in attacking third; Valencia seems to stop and think too much when he is on the ball and gives the defence time to re-organise. Oh well, away goal draw not a bad result but Dontesk doesn't look like a side that will go through to next round.
Having now watched the west brom game I don't understand why kagawa was subbed at half time. Clearly he is uncomfortable playing wide as he always drifts infield - meaning a) we are exposed on the left when we lose possession and b) we have no-one at the back post when we cross from the right; but he can clearly play; play him centrally for chrissake.

Utd are not going to get better until the coaches get the best starting eleven right. In the first CL game the team was in my opinion (except maybe for one) the best possible and they played well and won.Without Rooney they are piss poor. Welbeck is awful and has no football brain at all.
If you are old and wise you were probably young and stupid
Starting X1 was slightly better but still no Kagawa and it looks as though he will leave with a swap for Dortmund defender Subotic. I believe they should keep him because he can create where as Cleverly does not.RVP looked pretty slow today and missed a sitter. 3 points were welcome at this stage. I can see Moyes will try and hang on as he knows that to be successful he will have to get rid of a least 5 players and replace them with quality. The youngster Januzaj has unbelievable talent and just needs some more time to 'get a football brain'

"I wonder how long it'll take for a big club to poach that Janujaz kid?"

Contract expires at the end of the year. MU cant do shit except through money at him to make him stay.

Interesting
Plenty of clubs out there who can match or better manU for money these days.

And from the experience of Arsenal dealing with players in the last year of contracts. it ususally gets to that point because they are goign to leave
Tough one for moyes to deal with in his first season.
Part of the reason he probably started him was to give him a nudge toward a new contract, yet at the same time he's put him in the shop window for everyone to see...

Possibly didn't quite expect him to totally own the game. Could have backfired, as you say.
