Transfer window just closed, but rumours that the fellaini deal is done.

Surely it must be, given that Everton just spunked a bunch of cash super late in the window - on Barry and McCarthy, and maybe a loan for Lukaku but they're fighting with WBA on that.

Not a good window from Utd. Hopefully Woodward and too a lesser extent, Moyes, learn from this.

Why did they/you wait til his BOC expired and then pay more?.... was Moyes really hopeful of getting CF4, or someone else?

Coentrao in on loan

And apparently the guys in Spain representing the club in the potential deal for Herrera weren't sent by the club, bit of a farce

contreao not a bad loan - but I'm hearing ManU want him to play on the left side of midfield, bizarre, surely not true

Fellaini  - hearing ManU are paying more than his release clause that expired in june. Panic buy there for sure.

Very happy if Coentrao is in.

Don't want Fellaini. I think we have better options within the squad. We need to get the likes of Rooney, Kagawa, Nani, Da Silva and Anderson on the park more and make Carrick and Cleverly earn the game time they are getting.  Giggs should never start and it worries me that Moyes believes he should.

We still need a playmaking CM and v. disappointing we didn't have a plan. Fabregas was never going to come. There seemed to be no plan B. Woodward and Moyes have failed big time on this.

The FAX might not of gone through in time for the coentrao loan

Fax? how quaint. you take a pic with your phone of the contract and email it or send it via txt pic, right?

So Fellaini is a done deal. Desperation from Moyes.

Assuming Rooney plays behind RVP (with Hernandez and Wellback options) and we play 2 wide players (Nani, Young, Valencia, Zaha, Wellbeck), is the hairy one going to provide a better option than Cleverly or Carrick or Kagawa or Anderson - for 27.5m quid?

Is that a serious question? There's a reason Moyes has been trying to sign midfielders - Cleverley and Anderson are hardly even premier league level. Carrick is massively overrated. Kagawa, I've no idea because he never gets picked, but he's more a creative coutinho/cazorla/silva type than a proper central mid right?

Carrick might actually go really well with someone like Fellaini sitting alongside him.

Alex Ferguson is apparently second favourite to be ManU's next manager with the bookies (not a joke - read it on ESPN)

Kagawa doesn't play that deep. Behind the striker or inverted winger on the left. I wouldn't say Carrick is overrated, he has basically been our only consistent midfielder for the past few seasons and the club has done pretty well. Fellaini, not the best option but does add depth  - the first player bought as a first team player in that position since Hargreaves. Not to fussed on Coentrao, would have been nice but hopefully Fabio is able to push Evra. Also worried with the form of some of our wingers. Pretty much the same squad as last season + Fellaini, though other clubs have spent heavily and strengthened; expecting a much tougher season.

Yea that's what I thought - Kagawa is most suited to in-behind the striker right? i.e. where Welbeck is currently playing... something's not right there - do you think Moyes doesn't actually rate Kagawa? Fergie didn't play him much either. Although he has had niggles hasn't he.

Carrick, he's an odd one. No doubt he's played well last season and even the season before, but in all seriousness, if offered every single midfielder in the EPL, how many would you take before you took Carrick? I'd say there'd be upwards of 20 - 30 central midfield players I'd have before him. That says a lot.

PM. The reason why I think Fellaini is a flawed option is because of the current player roster. I agree with Bullion's points above. Fellaini has no natural midfield partner at United. Fellaini will win tackles and aerial duals but he needs a deepish lying creative midfielder to complement him. Carrick is the only option at present. Can Kagawa play deeper? Now that he's here, we still need another playmaking CM - which is the original problem still unsolved.

If Carrick is not a deep-lying playmaker, then what is he? He doesn't score goals or tackle people.

Yep that's four midfielders I'd take ahead of him. Easy to name at least 16 more I reckon.

Enjoying all the anti Utd comments from others. Let us worry about it. Should stick to hoping that your team can win something in the next 10 years.

The UTD fans whinging online is hilarious. Fellaini is pretty massive. Shame about Coentrao or Baines at LB.

I think UTD needs a...

CB - A Mats Hummels type to replace Ferdinand - no legs

And to stop playing Giggs.

And give Lindegard a run jesus

I don't think he was suggesting playing him in goal.

I agree, I have always thought that he was a pretty decent player. I'm happy, but will be interesting to see where is ends up playing.

Hummels is a decent player but is not quick himself. Ideally would be paired with someone quicker.
I think that Giggs should not be relied upon as a starting player.

More worringly, is he suggesting that Moyes is the son of God?

I think Fellaini will be a lot better at United than he ever was at Everton and also think many United fans are panicking prematurely because of some really good signings at other clubs coupled with the thought that Moyes isn't as proven as Fergy. Calm the fuck down I say, still a champion team.

You are right of course, but have not seen any Utd fans panicking on here.

Not on here but a lot were on other social networks soon after the window closed. I know because one of my mates who is a man u fan had his knickers in a twist (he had dedicated his morning to following it all online). He was referencing all kinds of web sites but I think a lot of it was also other clubs fans trying to poke fun at united too. We shall see but I'm still confident we will be a serious contender.
