Initially you'd think that's not as bad but at least ajc's old man's team hasn't won the league in his lifetime (or many people's lifetimes these days).

Spurs won the league in 60/61 which I'm sure is in ajc's old mans lifetime.

I quite clearly meant AJC, not his Dad.

Looking forward to the game, don't want to jinx it but the boys are getting better each game.

Poldi and Flamini haven't contributed as much as we might've hoped but that's down to others performing rather than them under-performing.

Flamini did an absolute job the first season he was back. The issue is that he should never have been relied upon for more than that season!

Your dad supports Spurs and you support Arsenal? How did that come about?

My Grandfather (Dad's Father) who I was very close to was a lifelong Arsenal fan who attended matches from the 30s (he was part of the record attendance against Sunderland in 1935 for instance) until the 90s. One of my most cherished memories is him taking me to Highbury for the first time to do the tour, and also one of my final memories of him as he passed away before I was next in the UK.

My Dad supported Spurs because he wanted to annoy his Dad. It was never like that for me, I didn't really understand the rivalries. My first memories of football are Euro 96 and crying when England lost on penalties. But I didn't really get interested in club football for another year, and in 97 sat down with my Dad for the first time to watch what Sky had scheduled as a Spurs game (back in the days when we got 1 game a weekend here and you had to phone them the day before to find out what game it was) but what turned up was an Arsenal game. Arsenal won 5-0 and I was mesmerised by Bergkamp and that was it. So guess I can thank a Sky TV error aswell as my connection with my Grandfather.

My brother's a United fan, for the same reason as most people who started watching football around the age of 8/9 in the late 90s. Football debates in our house growing up were often quite unpleasant!

It was, but he would have turned 8 near the end of that season so I'm not sure whether he was a fan yet, or has many memories of it. It wouldn't be worth the argument that would result from me asking!

I can imagine!

Arsenal + Spurs + ManU fans = chaos!

I probably would've lost my sh*t amongst that lot.

They tended to gang up on me most of the time as Spurs and United fans didn't have too many problems with each other. Made any miserable Arsenal moments all that much worse for going through them with a Spurs and United fan!

Very tough game and a very good result!

Now to watch Manchester drop points tomorrow. Maybe even Chelsea too...

Not the complete dominant display i was after but a clean sheet, and the momentum continues.

Any word on new injuries?

6 games left 12 points clear of the Cocks

So R34 could be 20 consecutive years of St Tott's day

Burnley have taken points from every other top six side, it was never going to be easy.

Gabriel was expected to start but then never even made the bench so I think something is up there, injury wise.

Yeah this. Just glad we got the three points really.

Three for me, and two for them.

Surely top 4 is the bare minimum. Should be aiming for 2nd now, or 3rd at worst. 4th would be a disappointment from here.

Three for me, and two for them.

1-0 borefest will do. Just hope it's less stressful than last year. 1-0 down against Wigan and looking like we weren't going to score was up there with as low as I've ever felt watching Arsenal. I'll never forget the look of pity my other gave me when she saw the utter despair on my face.

Win.

I don't care how, or who, or by how many... just give me win (please).

A nice round 3-0 win will do me nicely. Clean sheet and some players who haven't been at the top of their game lifting their shark. I'm looking at you welbeck

It was a rough time. Up there with 2-0 down in the final.

The feeling in the backbencher before Santi scored that freekick was pretty bad...

Yeah you could have heard a pin drop in there. Think I watched from the 2nd goal up to Santi's free kick with my head in my hands on the verge of tears. We'd bottled the start of another big game I couldn't see any way back into it.

Let's hope we all get to watch a final together again this season!

I'll definitely take the boring path this season if it's on offer. Although our SF and F wins last season will always live long in the memory just for how exicting/nerve wracking/nail biting they both were.

Three for me, and two for them.

Whats everyone's thoughts about Szczesny playing in the cup games which I imagine will also mean the final if we get there. I think its too important a position for Wenger to be mucking around with. Is it no coincidence that our current good form has been since Ospina has been in goal?

In Wenger we trust. Whoever is in Goal is not going to be busy, it'll be carnage at the other end.

I think its more to do with a consistent back four and the Coq doing an amazing job shielding them. Szczesny's form dip coincided with a very makeshift defence and no decent replacement for Arteta when he was out. That said, I think I prefer Ospina

Permalink Permalink

I prefer ospina right now but am happy for szczesny to get the cup games. It'd be nice to win this and give him a final after he didn't get that last year, despite being first choice.

I love both our keepers. Don't think we need to shop around like it's being rumoured that we are.
