I sent this email to a couple of gooner mates yesterday morning:

Well that was predictable......

Quickly, what are your thoughts on Ozil? He gets slaughtered by the press and commentators over here, but I think he is a good player. Last night, for instance, I thought that Welbeck was average and Sanchez was poor, but at half time everyone was going on about how dangerous they were and how much Ozil is a passenger. Have I got it wrong, or does he get a hard time because he doesn't run around a lot?

The grief that Ozil gets is amazing - genuinely staggers me at times.

What were the responses from your gooner mates?

a fairly reasoned response about how he makes the game look so easy (which is incredible considering the pace and intensity of the league). There is the sticking point that he doesn't dominate games enough to make the team a genuine league winning side, and then some usual arsenal supporting stuff about signing Schneiderlein, if there is another top quality striker around, and what would have happened if the bid for Suarez had been upped to £50-60m.

Arteta, Wilshere and Debuchy back in training.

All three plus the Ox apparently aiming for the Liverpool match.

It would be nice to see a run of games for Debuchy. He has been fairly unlucky with injuries with Arsenal (typically). Have liked what I have seen previously though. International windows bite.

Nice work from welbeck to get MOM the other day. He was almost sanchez like in his running and chasing players

Friendly vs brentford behind closed doors last night. Arteta, Wilshere, Debuchy and Diaby all played. Wilshere 1 goal + 1 assist, Diaby 1 assist and apparently played really well in his 45 mins.

Diaby can smell that contract extension!

I really like him as a player

Obviously he has been severely unlucky fitness wise.

Yup same here and i think most gunners do as well but he's been rosicky like in the last few years.

go gunners

Big difference there though... is anyone actually aware of what happened to Rosicky? Talk about bad luck. The guy had this rare type of injury where a tendon is torn away completely, but just happens to come back down to rest in the exact same position it was in before it tore, meaning all scans etc show no problem whatsoever. So they kept running tests and telling him everything was fine, but he was still in pain and couldn't run. It basically took a year to work out what had happened, and then they were able to start fixing him.

Diaby however... all his injuries have been successfully diagnosed... there's just so many and theyhappen so often!

So, do you guys want Sterling?

Yes... but not for the money we're likely to have to pay (which also means we're unlikely to get him).

No. Hard to see where he would get game time.

So for him to be signed means an offloading of a current player. Not sure there is anyone one the roster I would switch out to bring him in.

Walcott will inevitably end up at Liverpool and Sterling will go and sit on Chelsea's bench or something

He's got two years left on his contract I think (maybe 18 months come the new season). He wouldn't be cheap by any means but not over the top price either. I'd say you could get him for $30m - $40m which would be a bargain for a 20 year old with his ability. He's first in passes, assists, goals and successful dribbles for LFC at the moment.

Sturridge seems to have miraculously overcome his injury which kept him out of both England matches though. As has Lallana. And Sterling is apparently back after his match off too.

7 wins in a row. Form team since January. In the FA Cup semis. Good times.

Hopefully we keep this going, finish 2nd and win the Cup, and then keep the momentum going heading into next season and avoid another slow start.

Three for me, and two for them.
