Imagine living at Highbury.

Love Podolski's post, if only he got a few more chances on the pitch than he's had for us.

Highbury...what memories. This future that the club have sold us compared to where we were at Highbury, take me back there every day of the week.

Sanchez one of the few positives this season. It's taken a lot but even a few on here are starting to realise what I've been banging on about for a while now - change is needed at the top.

Looks fecking depressing to be quite honest.

Also, Podolski should be our media manager; he's not good enough to get on the pitch, pretty simple.

In addition to the flares, look how they left the away section.

Galatasaray have been ordered to get in contact with Arsenal and pay us for the damages. And the charges against Arsenal for supposed relaxed security have been dropped.

Sanity prevails.

I was lucky enough to watch a few games on the old North bank terracing back in 1991 before the new stand was built. Good old fashion standing behind the goal.

Last year, when I was in London, I went for a walk into the new Highbury. So surreal seeing the old East and West Stands

With Ospina injured & Szy suspended looks like we'l see Martinez start in goal. With Chambers back from suspension surely he comes in for Monreal at CB and you start Bellerin on the bench. I can never pick midweek teams for away games, hard to know if we go all guns blazing or we rest some key players.

Oh we've seen him play kwlap.. his last start was the infamous 7-5 Reading match...

Ospina ruled out for 3 months so we might see Martinez a few more times yet... highly rated as a youngster but extremely unproven, should be interesting. Still, he's older than Szczesny was when he became no.1.

This Huddart fellow who will be on the bench sounds like an up & comer too. Recently signed pro terms, 6"4, English, future #1 for club & country apparently.

Fuck sake, so Ospina is yet another crock. Sounds like he was injured when we signed him, then we played him before he was fully fit and now surprise suprise he's injured long term.

Permalink Permalink

To be fair, I'm pretty sure he got crocked on international duty. Though, in saying that, I did question why he was going because he was reported as injured before that..

From Wenger:

on the injury to David Ospina...
It is exactly the same one [as from the World Cup]. He had his first injury at Nice - it was a knee problem and he was a bit rushed back and did not use his leg, so his muscle became weaker. Then he got injured in the World Cup. After that, he came to us injured after the World Cup and it took him two months to play again. I had to bring him on against Galatasaray without a warm up and being prepared, so he had a recurrence of that injury. It means he is out for two to three months, now we have to be really careful because it is a recurrence of a thigh injury, which is very difficult. It is a long-term injury.

Our 4th and 5th choice goalkeepers are also unavailable, you have to laugh really.

If this is true Szny's wry smile as he got sent off was more about how he'd likely got rid of his challengers!

So our 3rd choice is starting and our 6th choice is on the bench.

Wonderful.

Three for me, and two for them.

Ok so this may sound a bit room n gloom. But I wouldn't be too fussed if we didn't get out of the group this year. Just so we could focus on the league. To me the CL is great, but a higher finish in the league is what we need. And just looking at our squad and the injuries we have, I think we would benefit if we concentrated on one. Not both.

Well, I'd now say we're 90% of the way towards being drawn against Barca/Munich for the Last 16.

I was living in Laandin village across 04/05 and got me a prospectus sent out.  The two beds were going for about 230-250k back then.  Even took the missus up there for a look about but even she could see that the neighbours at the end of the road were absolutely feral...

A couple of cracking finishes, Poldi poaching like that must be justifying him getting some time centrally.

Chambers looked like an absolute bully in that first half, he's got to get his discipline under control, as well as do better marking, he was awful.

Also their young CB from the Congo was amazing, sign him up Wenger.

Flamini, positionally speaking, is probably the best in the side as a DMF. How many times is he the 5th man in our back line, blocking crosses, man marking key targets. He might not break up play, but he always gets back into the right positions which is something I don't think Arteta is as aware of.

Hopefully that lifts the confidence for this weekend, away to Sunderland is always tough. I can't tell whether or not the SOTON match will have ruined them or inspired them.

Nope. He's already proved he can't. A goal doesn't change that.

This is as good as he gets - impact off the bench (and this is the first time it's worked for a while..)

Also, Flamini was quite easily one of our worst players. Chambers had a shocker as well.

When did he get a run of games as our lone striker? Because if a goal doesn't prove his worth then neither does minimal opportunities prove he can't.

Podolski is the Brockie of Arsenal. He pops up with goals every now and then, but he doesn't give you anything else. He neither works hard pressuring players or is a good target to hit. We simply can't carry a striker that does nothing to bring others into play. That is not how the system is set up. Perhaps if we had a front 2 with cover behind him, it would work.

He's had a few games as striker and never really proved his worth; never really proved his worth at all, really.

We are becoming specialists in comebacks and late goals. Not sure if i like that because usually it means we've fallen behind to start with, but you start to think this team can pull a result out from anywhere.

Three for me, and two for them.
