Spurs Fans, what would you prefer...

1. ARSEnal win the league and we finish 4th
2. ARSEnal don't win the league and we finish 5th

Because in coming weeks we play Man Yoo and Chelski and beating them will help ARSEnal win the league (assuming they keep winning).

For reasons of poetic license there is purposely no option of...
3. ARSEnal don't win the league and we finish 4th

For the record i am firmly in the first option camp as i have never seen my team play Champions League (or rather qualifying rounds of the Champs League), although the thought of ARSEnal winning the title doesn't sit well with me either...

Will let you know after the Fulham replay.

Generally though we should be thinking about ourselves and winning as many as we can. Regardless of if it helps or hinders the scum.

Unfortunately our record against the big 3.5 hasn't been good this season so it's not a good final run that we have to retain 4th. If we get 5th or 6th that is OK but maybe a bit disappointing when you think about the dropped points against Wolves and Hull.

I going for the beating the scum in the Champions League, it would much more sweet then.

So ManU and Chelsea has to make do with us knocking them off in the games to come. Chelsea for being in the same city as us and nabbing a billionaire as an owner and ManU for being ManU. Beating the scum later in the champions league would be awesome. As a Champions league club, we will recruit well in the off season which would only make our EPL performance even better next year. It would be great to build and develop the club more in the coming years.

We need to be in the Champions league. End of story.

Not sure how bad Pavy is injured so 'Arry may need to call on Eidur a bit more in the next couple of matches.

We are teetering to the end of the season (on crutches).

Don't you love how down to earth 'Arry is, check this out from the Mail...

Re: the incident when when Benny and Charlie had a bit of push and shove.

Redknapp said: Charlie (Corluka) was upset that he didnt come back and do his job. Benoit is a strange boy. Hes a bit highly strung and hardly speaks English. If you say something to him hes hard work. He hasnt improved his English in the couple of years hes been here.

Asked why the player had walked off on his own, Redknapp replied: He didnt know the result! He probably thought wed drawn.

Hell turn up Wednesday and play great, but he wont know were playing Fulham until someone tells him. Thats how he is. Hes unreal. He walks off and hes thinking about the music hes going to play when he puts his headphones on

Let's have a look at the old scoreboard:

CLUB P W L D GD Pts Manchester United 31 22 6 3 47 69 Chelsea 31 21 5 5 47 68 Arsenal 31 21 6 4 40 67 Tottenham Hotspur 30 16 7 7 26 55 Manchester City 30 14 5 11 16 53 Perennial strugglers Perennial strugglers Liverpool 31 15 10 6 18 51 Aston Villa 30 13 5 12 17 51 Everton 31 13 9 9 8 48

Scorchio!
Brilliant!

Edit:  At the start of the season HH was not getting excited about the prospect of 4th.  Good call HH.  We should get 5 or 6 but depends on if our injury list grows and we self-destruct or eat more lasagne.

What would I prefer?

Option 2 - call me mean spirited but it would be funny for the @rse scum to not have any silverware yet again.

What do I think will happen?

They will win the title.  We are in with a good chance to take the cup, if we meet Chelski in the final we have the wood over them from the 2008 Carling Cup final (yeah I know, old news).

What do I rationally prefer?

Option 1 - We could mathematically nab 4th.  Also I think the scum have a good run in compared with the ManU and Chelski.

Clearly great results all round tonight(except Chelski of course).

Still refuse to get excited. The prospect of facing the top 3 on the trot (not to mention a semi-final sandwhiched between) fills me with dread. One win from those three would be beyond any expectations I currently have.

Still, I could be a Hull fan, so I should count my lucky stars.HarryHotspur2010-03-25 14:30:34

I was hoping you'd win this game.

This changes the date of the NLD I believe. Now, instead of us turning up at WHL two days after a trip to the Nou Camp, we get a week off and the spurs only get two/three days rest.

Not that we'll need it francsernal2010-03-25 16:22:40

Shouldn't feel sorry for Hull fans - they have big comforters at these times, see Frankie's fred:

No, this is a good resulty, keeps the ARSE further from the title, nothing gained by Pompey winning this one...

Pompey are out of the EPL but that means they will be focused entirely on the FA Cup semi.

Title is still open so all the games we play against the top three will be must wins for them.

Mackems are hard at Stadium of Sh!te, we struggle a bit against the Bolton style of play and City is gunning for 4th spot.

Pretty much all the games will be hard yakka.

COYS!

Hi guys

I have updated a spreadsheet I previously posted in another forum. Its a 4th place predictor. I just added in Everton, too.

Basically, it has the current points and all remaining prem fixtures for Spurs, Man City, Perennial strugglers Liverpool, Vill and Everton. You put in W, D or L beside each fixture, and it works out the eventual points total and 4th to 8th place.

So far looking good for spurs!

im actually warming to the idea of your lot making the champs league, would be interesting to see how you go - you guys have never been in it right?

Your footballing style may well suit the top european teams, and it would be awesome if there was a NLD in the knockout stages! that'd be so epic

plus it would mean man city dont make it despite all their cash, condemning them to another year of buying whatever big names will 'settle' for their club coz no one else wants them or would pay that much for them

I'm warming to it too paul. What's wrong with us!!!

Mind you, some of them are warming to us winning the league too so i guess it's only fair to pay back the support.

Three for me, and two for them.

this too

i noted with interest the discussion 2 pages or so ago asking the question "would you want us to get fourth if it meant arsenal winning the league" or something like that. Responses were positive...

another young(ish) one to join lennon et.al in mid field.

What's happened to giovanni dos santos? has he been performing out on loan? will harrry recall him into the first team when/if he returns?

Haven't heard anything (or kept tabs).

With Keane coming back and Eidur G wanting to stay, Pavy finding form, Crouch, Defoe in the England squad it's a pretty unappealing scene for a young forward.  Mind you none of those are spring chickens.

2-0 and another week up with the big boys.

This was the "easy" game of the run-in and also bodes well for the FA cup semi.

Villa off the pace now too.  Which is nice.

First trip to the Lane in 20 years today. Whole family enjoyed the match. Bale & Walker doing some good work on the flnaks. Modric appeared hamstrung by position unable to create much from the middle of the park & Tom not really finding his mark all that often a bit of a disappointment. The defence mopped up pretty much everything a limp Pompey attack threw at them, and when they didn't Gomez on hand. Crouch battled well did a lot of chasing down keeping Pompey defence busy. Spurs should have won this one by 4 or 5, looking good for Semi. ANY1 out there know where i can Tkts for semi???? we head back to NZ a couple of days later.

little chance mate. But if my work lets me back to London in time I'll be watching at a suitably partisan pub someplace (which might be my partament in Southwark). So keep in touch, if you're at a loss.

Lads. Can you tell me how Vedran Corluka got his nickname 'Charlie'?

Three for me, and two for them.

almost 16 years ago · edited over 13 years ago
He's had that nickname for a long time, since he was playing in the HNL. All Dinamo/Croatia fans used to (and still do) call him Charlie.

Guessing it's probably related to his last name - 'Chor-loo-kah' is prob close enough to Charlie.
